Rams cut Troy Hill

I was never the firm believer that we was set on the corner back position like a lot of people were. I thought it was a big mistake letting Jenkins go. I feel like they could have signed Johnson long term because of his injury history and franchised Jenkins. Thats done though now. I never like Roberson and I wasnt sold on EJ even when he was healthy. So its no surprise to me that Corner should be a primary focuse outside of a good guard and center.

Ian Rapoport: Doesn't think Rams will fire Fisher anytime soon

Are you being serious with that question, Les? Surely you jest. Lol.

Fisher has a certain O "philosophy", shall we say?

And his OC damned well better design his plays and gameplan that stays within that philosophy. So, it's not necessary that Fisher personally call every play. He's still very much in control of the overall O.

That is probably why outside strong willed vet OC's don't want to work for Fisher. Hell, some of them (Gase) won't even interview for the job.

Vermeil and Fisher are polar opposites as far as giving authority to their OC's. Vermeil gave the reins to Martz completely. Fisher has kept 3 consecutive OC's on short leashes. And the results speak for themselves.

The worst part? It's never gonna change.

Lastly, we greatly disagree on our "needs list" to repair our O.Here's my hierarchy of change needs to result in an at least average O:

Hire new HC.
Let him select his own OC and all other asst coaches.

Once those two steps have been taken, all else will fall into place. There is already playoff worthy talent on this roster.

Kroenke, Demoff, and Snead are all doing a fine job, IMO. Fisher is the damned bottleneck in our success process.

This is still just opinion and supposition, because we really DON'T know what is happening behind closed doors.

I'm curious if anyone can actually nail down Fisher's philosophy on offense, because I've looked at his TENN teams and they are all over the board with pass/run ratio, scoring, total yards and everything else.

That's why I balk at tagging something with a label that doesn't fit well. And no label fits well. If I could say one thing about his philosophy it would be that it shifts base one one big factor. That being how good the QB is.

Memento's 2017 Mock Offseason...in 2016.

I am good with the David Shaw hiring.

We've had this discussion before. Lance Kendricks is not netting us a third round pick. He's an average starting TE.

I think cutting Will Hayes is a mistake. He's on a reasonable contract, he's a team leader, and he's still providing solid play.

I also think it's a mistake to let Trumaine Johnson get away.

I haven't jumped into the draft yet. But I think going after an OL early makes a lot of sense.

Did my browser take me to Rams Stalk?????

Hope the mods take this place back.
We've never left this place. And though there may be more negative members here than we have had in the past, we try to keep a close eye on what is being posted and act when necessary. I suppose in a way, someone complaining that we are not doing enough tells us that we may be walking that line fairly well.

Believe me - moderating a board like this is tricky. We all have our preferences on how to deal with the board, the members, and how they react to the product on the field and the outlook for the future. We discuss it all the time because, like the many different personalities on the board, the mods have varying ideas as well. While it would be easier for us to have a hair trigger and ax anyone who crosses us or else take the approach of too many other sites and allow for a free for all with little to no moderation, instead, we try to achieve a happy medium where we can allow members to voice their honest concerns as well as the fun posts we all like.

It can be fun being a moderator but rarely is that fun from doing the job of moderating. We'd all like to just shoot the shit with fellow Rams fans without having to come down on those who lean negative or just go full bitch mode. But the reality is that there are many posters/members that offer very good discussion but sometimes get overwhelmed by the poor product we keep being subjected to on the field and finally have to break from their normal MO and get it off their chest. It's hard to blame them.

In the end, we try to do as much as possible to keep this place the ROD many of us have been members of since the beginning or close to it. But realistically, we'd have to shrink this thing down pretty small to get back to the tight group we used to be.

There are several people on here that I butt heads with from time to time. But that doesn't mean they are bad people or bad fans or that they don't belong here. It means we sometimes have to check ourselves as much if not more than we do the other members. I like the diversity of this board. While I love being a homer and talking to other homers, it is very interesting talking to others who see things differently as long as they are not being dickheads about it.

Bottom line is that this may not be the same ROD that was started back in 2010. We keep it as close to that as we can. But it is still the best Rams board out there and we will do whatever we can to keep it that way. I won't shy away from calling it like I see it when someone is being overly negative or a jerk to our members or the organization but I am unlikely to jump in every time a few members get into an argument either. And that goes for old members as well as new. The long time members will always have a longer rope. But that doesn't mean we will always take their side.

So to me, it is not a matter of taking things back. It is just a few guys doing the best we can to keep this place fun for as many people as possible while sticking as close as possible to why we all migrated over here.

Mannion time!!!

What im saying is that draft slot doesnt make you a better qb than someone in the later rounds. The rams have an OBLIGATION to play Goff right now and thats fine. Not having a contingency plan in place is irresponsible though.
No being a better prospect gets you drafted in a higher round.
A quick review of the teams in the league has 25 teams starting QB drafted in 1st or 2nd round
19 first round QB

Fisher's four game leash

After the bye, it was reported that Jeff Fisher had four games to prove something. Since that time he is 1 - 2, with one more game to go. Do we see a change if he looses the next game? I think Stan lets him finish the year most likely. I was out at the game today, and I just finished reading as much of the vent thread that I could, and I could not agree more with the sentiment that Fisher is playing not to loose, and losing anyway.

Really a four game leash? Somebody will have to drag him out the door or he's going nowhere...

Positive Thread: Rams vs Dolphins

May as well discuss some positives too.

1. Goff managed the game good enough to win and didnt make any bad mistakes. I think the rain limited him throwing downfield but it was a solid game for a first start.

2. Defense was great but ran out of gas at end. Easley really stood out (what a steal in FA)

3. Gurley looked a little more like last years Gurley today.

Add your thoughts.
My positive is , I'm back on rod. whew.

There’s very good news out of Arizona on Monday night. Coach Bruce Arians has been released from the hospital within the last hospital and returned home.

Arians wasn’t feeling well last night. Initial tests were favorable, but he was held for further evaluation.

During the preseason, Arians was hospitalized briefly due to diverticulitis. The 64-year-old two-time coach of the year also has overcome prostate cancer.

The Cardinals, NFC finalists a year ago, are 4-5-1 through 10 games of 2016.
