25 under 25

Regarding the saints game, I can only add that it wasn't McVay's system making those 2 clutch sidearm throws underneath a defender's arms while being chased down...under pressure.

Say what you want about a player and the system in which they play, but, sooner or later, you have to make a play (or 2).

BTW, Goff was missing more than his #1 weapon (Gurley). Kupp is a major factor in the success of that offense.

Donovan McNabb 'absolutely' thinks he's a Hall of Famer

Barry Sanders yes, Marshall Faulk yes, Steven Jackson (as some have suggested) no freaking way.
Just my 2 cents

My two cents? S-Jax absolutely belongs in the Hall. It's not his fault he had no supporting cast at quarterback and O-line. He got at least 1,000 yards almost every year he was a Ram. There are running backs with less yards-from-scrimmage in the Hall. If they belong, S-Jax almost certainly does. He was one of the most dominant and well-rounded backs in his era.

Eric Weddle refuses to give away Ravens secrets

Maybe he is just doing this in public. I can not imagine that in week 12 he will not help the Rams out if he can. Especially if if is a big game for the Rams.
But, I think the Ravens offense is going to suck and their coach is going to get fired. The QB is dumb and you do not throw the whole organization on a guy with low I.Q. They will end up just running him like last year when they find out he can not read a defense to save his life.
The Chargers game proved it all.

Lakers get the 4th pick in the lottery - time for another rebuild?

Unfortunately, I agree with the Frontiere/Buss comparison. I don't think it has anything to do with spending though. Her daddy was a tightwad but knew how to get good basketball people in place. She's going to need to get a great mind or three in place before this team is going to be back.

I remember when everyone wanted Jim Buss out. Then she takes over and everyone thought things would change for the better. Now the media is all over her saying things like she's overwhelmed, listening to the wrong people, etc.

Yes, she does need to find a great mind. Letting Jerry West go years ago was a huge mistake. They should have done everything they can to keep him. Heck, Mitch Kupchak wasn't as bad as people thought. Now they have the look of a dysfunctional team. And it seems like it doesn't matter who's running it with Jerry Buss's kids.

Five QBs in NFL history with a TD% of over 5% and and INT% below 2.5% (min 1,000 attempts)

Florio has sources that have revealed to him that.....

McVay actually wears a virtual reality helmet that is connected to Goff to read the defenses and uses a video game controller to make all the throws for him.

McVay's
hardest throw was in the NFCC, in the over time, to Higbee because McVay didn't have time to move the throw-motion controller. Cam Jordan was all over Goff and Jodrdan almost hit the throw buttom by mistake--that would have ruined McVay's best throw

Lamar Jackson had no idea Ravens were installing a new offense this offseason

more pertinently, how did the coaches not tell him they were installing a new offense and give him some notes to study up on? if he's not told there will be a new offense why would he assume there will be one?

.
It should be pretty scary all around. Scary that the Ravens coaches weren't openly communicating with him, scary that he either didn't think to ask or care enough to, and scary that he would let something so embarrassing slip in a press conference.

Ndamukong Suh thinks he can put Bucs 'over the top'

Ndamukong Suh has been a busy man. The star defensive tackle recently got engaged and signed a new contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Suh didn't visit the Bucs before inking his deal, as he's currently in France celebrating his engagement, but the 32-year-old spoke with coach Bruce Arians and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, and likes what Tampa is trying to build. Suh spoke to the Tennis Channel during the French Open about his new job -- his first comments since signing his contract.

"I'm very excited," Suh said. "I actually had the opportunity to talk very deeply with (defensive coordinator) Todd Bowles as well as Bruce Arians, two elite coaches that I've had great interactions with in years past. I like being part of things you can build and be able to put them over the top. Hopefully my talent, as well as all the other guys -- former Nebraskans, Lavonte David -- we can play together and change the game there, and get us to a winning situation."

The Bucs' new defensive tackle made the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams before falling short of snagging the Lombardi Trophy. Before the 2018 season, Suh had played in just three career playoff games (two in Detroit, one in Miami) without a postseason victory.

Tampa has a big hill to climb in the NFC South to get Suh back to the playoffs, but the defensive tackle could help boost a Bucs defense with plenty of holes to fill.

"This week was a big week," Suh said. "I was very blessed to have the new contract and go to the Bucs and go down there, but I have a fiancée now. I proposed, and got down on a knee, and she's here with me and we're enjoying this great country. She's a great woman. She's been by my side for many, many years. We grew up together, to say the least, and I'm very, very blessed, to say the least as well."

Okay, here is an UDFA to get excited about

@Akrasian Would Mike Thomas be (again) in the running for a gunner spot, or do you think we have a good pair currently? Just wondering as Mike was a good gunner when he last played

That would be his best chance at keeping his roster spot. But keep in mind he costs hundreds of thousands of dollars more than a rookie, and cap space is tight. He needs to be enough better that the coaches think that others can't be coached up to close to his level.

Frankly, if you haven't established yourself as either a significant player for regular plays, or a key special teamer, by your 4th year, you are seriously on the bubble. If they cut a rookie who is nearly as good to keep Thomas, that likely means they will have to find another rookie to replace him next season. In any case, with a team with cap issues like the Rams, keeping Thomas unless there is a real advantage hurts them this season and possibly next season.

Former NFL players die at a faster rate than other professional athletes, study finds

Yeah, 300 lbs isn't natural for most people including elite lineman. We know that because so many have exited the game and lost the weight and look completely different (several have nearly halved their body weight and look like kickers now).

Also, as many are realizing, it's not just the calories, but how they are composed. What's funny is that body builders and strongmen focus SO MUCH on their diets and eating schedule as opposed to most football players.

Just like with CTE, I can see teams investing in significantly more nutritional support for their athletes.

I know if I were an owner, I'd have a full staff of nutritionists on hand to handle the caloric and nutritional needs of every player and coach and FO personnel.

Better nutrition leads to better mind and body and as such, an investment like that could make the difference between struggling and building a dynasty.

And honestly, paying the nutritionists, chefs and buying all the food for around 100 people for the year would maybe be $1M... The returns on such an investment would be stupid good.

To not do it, imho, is penny wise and pound foolish.
I agree and I would be amazed if most teams don't have this taken care.
Nutrition in relation to training and injury recovery is huge as well.
In the case of Lee I believe they had him listed at 310 or so but he was told they wanted him at least 330 by the start of the season.
I worked with Brett F. former Rams LB around the same time. This was at a recording studio. He put on a huge amount of weight in one off season after his first Rams camp and the next camp all while remaining shredded.
One can do the math on that.
The message I got in talking to both players is both teams couldn't give an F less about the players health or how they put weight/strength on. Just do it or see ya.

NFL Coaches Who Will Be on the Hot Seat Entering the 2019 Season

It's neither. The 2 biggest loudmouths are gone. And judging by how those 2 have been even AFTER they got their wish and no longer on the Steelers, are still acting like douchebags one way or another.

But those two loudmouths sure were good.....Steelers defense seems to be getting better, but I'm betting they struggle a tad scoring this year as I'm not as big on Conner as others, but 4th round pick Benny Snell is intriguing, overall, I believe the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens will supersede the Pittsburgh gang this year, which will be great for Steeler Nation.

Opinion: Players Aren't Cyborgs

If you think you can go a decade without spending a cent, they you're my hero. A lesser, normal person is going to need to pay rent or a mortgage, and buy groceries. This would force selling of stock during a market downturn. A more rational approach would be to have an asset allocation that included bonds and cash. Clearly the trade off of having to spend during a decade long flat to slightly down market is that this less stock position returns less than the stock market as a whole. You should also note that the current market has very high valuations. Further, a recent analysis shows that stock buybacks have driven stock prices 12% higher. Those conditions aren't going to last forever.

What is the mantra here? "Think before you post".

That is one of the blatant examples of cherry picked stats I've seen in a while.
