NFL week 7 Injury Report

NFL week 7 Injury Report

Week Seven of the 2019 NFL season kicked off on Thursday with a win by the Chiefs and it continues with 12 more games on Sunday, which means that the 24 teams in those games submitted their final injury reports of the week on Friday.

The teams playing on Monday night won’t release their final injury reports until Saturday and are not listed here.

With that housekeeping out of the way, here are all the injury reports for Sunday.

Saints at Bears

The Saints ruled out QB Drew Brees (right thumb), TE Jared Cook (ankle), DE Trey Hendrickson (neck), RB Alvin Kamara (ankle, knee), and WR Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) for Sunday’s game.

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (left shoulder) is questionable after a week of full practices. G Ted Larsen (knee) and DT Bilal Nichols (hand, knee) drew the same designation.

Rams at Falcons

The Rams are set to have RB Todd Gurley (quad) back in the lineup, but RB Malcolm Brown (ankle) is listed as doubtful. LB Clay Matthews (jaw) will miss another game.

CB Desmond Trufant (toe) will miss a second straight game for the Falcons, but they’re otherwise healthy for Sunday.

Dolphins at Bills

Dolphins S Reshad Jones (chest), C Daniel Kilgore (knee) and DE Avery Moss(ankle) are out this weekend. WR Jakeem Grant (hamstring) and CB Xavien Howard (knee) are listed as questionable.

CB Taron Johnson (hamstring), LB Matt Milano (hamstring) and LB Corey Thompson (ankle) got questionable tags for the Bills.

The Bengals ruled out WR A.J. Green (ankle), CB William Jackson (shoulder), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (knee), DE Carl Lawson (hamstring), G John Miller (groin), and T Andre Smith (ankle). T Cordy Glenn will also miss the game after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. DE Carlos Dunlap (knee) is listed as doubtful, so there will be a lot of missing pieces for the home team.

Vikings at Lions

Vikings LB Ben Gedeon (concussion) is out this weekend and LB Kentrell Brothers (hamstring) is listed as questionable.

The Lions will be without DT Mike Daniels (foot) and CB Amani Oruwariye(knee). RB Nick Bawden (back), S Quandre Diggs (hamstring), DE Da'shawn Hand (elbow), CB Darius Slay (hamstring), and T Rick Wagner (knee) are listed as questionable.

Raiders at Packers

DE Arden Key (knee) and WR Tyrell Williams (foot) were ruled out by the Raiders. T Trent Brown (calf) is expected to miss the game after being listed as doubtful while WR Dwayne Harris (ankle) and G Gabe Jackson (knee) are listed as questionable.

WR Davante Adams (toe) and S Darnell Savage (ankle) are out for the Packers with WR Geronimo Allison (concussion, chest) and TE Robert Tonyan (hip) likely to join them after drawing doubtful tags. CB Tony Brown (hamstring), DT Kenny Clark (calf, back) and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (ankle, knee) are listed as questionable.

Texans at Colts

Texans T Tytus Howard (knee) and C Greg Mancz (concussion) are out for Sunday. S Tashaun Gipson (hip, wrist), CB Johnathan Joseph (hamstring) and CB Bradley Roby (hamstring) are considered questionable for the game.

The Cardinals said that RB David Johnson (ankle, knee) and WR Christian Kirk(ankle) will be game-time decisions. They ruled out DE Zach Allen (neck), RB D.J. Foster (hamstring) and T Brett Toth (illness). LB Dennis Gardeck (ankle), DE Zach Kerr (ankle), P Andy Lee (right hip), T Joshua Miles (illness), LB Ezekiel Turner (hamstring), S Charles Washington (shoulder), and TE Maxx Williams(ankle) have been listed as questionable.

RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is off the Giants’ injury report, but CB Corey Ballentine and WR Sterling Shepard have been ruled out with concussions.

49ers DT D.J. Jones (hamstring), RB Kyle Juszczyk (knee), T Mike McGlinchey(knee), WR Deebo Samuel (groin), T Joe Staley (fibula), and CB Ahkello Witherspoon (foot) are all out this weekend. RB Raheem Mostert (knee) is the lone player listed as questionable.

Washington also has one questionable player. CB Josh Norman (thigh, hand) got that tag while TE Vernon Davis (concussion), S Deshazor Everett (ankle), LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), G Wes Martin (chest), and RB Chris Thompson (toe) have been ruled out.

The Cowboys have a long list of questionable players for Sunday’s game. DE Dorance Armstrong (neck), WR Randall Cobb (back), T La'el Collins (knee), WR Amari Cooper (ankle, quadricep), CB Byron Jones (hamstring), C Joe Looney(back), G Zack Martin (back, ankle), and T Tyron Smith (ankle) all drew that designation. CB Anthony Brown (hamstring) is the only player who has been ruled out.

Guys, relax!

Robert Saleh is one of the better DCs in the league and he's gonna be an HC next year. His defenses gave us problems even when he had absolute garbage players.

Our biggest issue in that game was 3/4 downs. Our D gave up too many first on 3rd down and our O couldn't convert a 3rd down.

It was a division game, they have a ton of confidence and swagger, the offense isn't relying on Jimmy G to slang it around and teams quickly are going to recognize that and force the 9ers to beat them in the air and other than Kittle and Godwin, they don't really have anyone.

I expect there schedule to tighten up and for teams to start playing that offense more aggressively to shut down the run and force Jimmy G to win... and I think they'll have limited success.

Heck, the 1995 Rams started out 5-1, got shellacked by the 9ers and then kept getting shellacked the rest of the year.

When teams figure out to sell out to stop the run and force Jimmy G to beat them with his arm, that 9er team is a 500 team at best and that's with Saleh's defense.

I'll give true props if they win some hard games and finish 13-3 or better. I don't see that happening.

I could be wrong, but I agree with you. The Kurt Warner 1999 Rams had the same tag, that we played a soft schedule.

But I'm hearing on NFL news that the whiners beat us up and blew us out. Really? If Brown gets the TD awarded to him and Jimmy G doesn't on the goal line (both were questionable and I think both didn't score). Jimmy G threw a pick in the end zone and he threw Littleton a pick six that was dropped. That could have turned the game in our favor.

And the Fumble to start the second half didn't help

Total Draft Picks Traded Today?

No disrespect but, these are mostly unproven players. JJ, Kupp and Everett are the only top-level players off the top of my head. I dare say most are JAGS. The roster wasn't deep when McVay took over and need a changeover.

Not really. The OL guys are unproven, but many others are core ST's guys or key reserves that have performed well in those roles. And those are mostly the guys beginning their 2nd season or rookies.

The 3rd year guys are all significant contributors.

Everett, Kupp, Johnson, Reynolds, and Ebukam all have made significant contributions.

Smart might fit the JAG definition, but better a young cheap back up then rely on an aging vet back up.

And this is not even taking into consideration the UDFA's and young street FAs like Littleton, Brown, Fox, Williams, Reeder, Blythe, Christian, Hill etc... That have made an impact to varying degrees.

Many others just haven't had a chance to play from scrimmage since this team was competing for the #1 seed the last yr and stayed pretty healthy. Might get a chance to see these guys now, which isn't a bad thing in a way. They can see where their roster stands.

SF Game Stills

So in closing what a frustrating game to review. I'm sure many didn't even open this up lol. Here's my takeaways fwiw...

1. OT struggles are probably at least a little related to Goff not being comfortable stepping up due to the interior struggles. But both Hav and Whit were beat plenty of times. Power rush seems to be a favored move with Whit and he'll see more of it unless he adjusts. Speed move continues to haunt Hav and probably will until the QB can step up and in to this pocket, he doesn't have the feet to play wide rushes snap after snap.

2. Demby lost his job in this game. I think that final turnstile when the game was in reach and Cooks was open was the nail in his coffin. I suspect that one really chapped McVay's hide.

3. DL played a great game vs the run. They were very stout. SJD and Gaines both are excellent rotation pieces on run downs and it bodes well for us if we can get the secondary fixed.

4. This secondary has zero feel for zone. Don't expect that to change on account of Ramsey for whom zone is his area he can improve the most.

5. Allen cost us a couple series. He needs to get better and if not they need to sit him.

6. I am looking forward to seeing more Hendy. But I'd feel better if we had a power back like CJ on this roster.

Question I would ask Snead...

Everett is grossly underutilized in part because we have an amazing WR trio.
I agree with what you say in part. But I don't think our WR trio have been amazing since that Bears game last year Mac. I think they're very good looking at them 3 deep, where you can burn your top CB on one of them, maybe even cover a second option depending on your CB room but the third is going to eat up your depth chart. Cooks generally for example isn't going to burn a top CB and neither is Woods, but it's a pick your poison type deal. Aikman's saying of you're as good as your third WR is applicable here IMO.

I don't want to bag on our wideouts here. But they're in need of stepping things up a bit IMO. They have not been converting opportunities better than the other groups or anything like that. The disappointing play has been across the board even if it does start with the OL. Dropped passes early on to include key downs in many of our games thus far, getting smothered in the pattern, not doing a great job of scramble drill when Goff does get outside the pocket, etc.

Just IMO but we are in a transition period, a post-Gurley era if you will where our current wideouts aren't going to be blowing teams off the field. And Everett and his recent improvement fit nicely in that. We might be able to get back to that old look IF they can get Hendy rolling but we'll have to wait and see.

Oh and btw it's why I think they just made a big investment in our defense. To help keep that score down and allow this team time to try to finish this OL-rebuild-on-the-go.

Rams plan to have Jalen Ramsey ready to play in Week 7

Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey‘s back is still bothering him. Unless it isn’t.

The Rams have conflicting injury reports regarding Thursday’s practice. In the emailed version, Ramsey fully participated despite a back injury. On the team’s official website, no back injury is disclosed.

Regardless, Ramsey seems to be on track to play after three weeks of not playing with the Jaguars, due to his back injury.

“I think — to my knowledge — he’s feeling good,” coach Sean McVay told reporters on Thursday regarding Ramsey. “I know he had the issue with the back soreness and stuff like that, and that’s something that we want to monitor and keep an eye on.”

Still, the Rams surely deemed Ramsey to be sufficiently healthy to pass a physical before the trade was finalized, and with only 26 games left on his rookie deal the Rams surely don’t want him to miss any games, especially with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley on tap this weekend when the Rams travel to Atlanta to play the Falcon.

Common sense suggests that the Rams won’t want to expose Ramsey as a malingerer for his failure to play in any of the three games preceding his trade. So they can talk about his “back soreness and stuff like that” now, and then they can put him on the field come Sunday, as the Rams try to reverse a three-game losing streak.

Offensive Lines

Same. From watching as a fan for so many years (maybe too many :)), I've grown to believe, more than most people seem to, that OL has more of an impact on things--that it has a bigger ripple effect all the way through to how your D performs, and secondly that quality OL is harder to come by than what most people seem to think, so those two ideas together make our current situation that much more disturbing and worrisome for me.

Then again I'm just another fan and could have it wrong--maybe at this point I hope I do lol...
O line lets you 'control' the game....which we did very well from mide season 2017 to the 2018 playoffs.....and then bam.

Whit was great, and Saffold was very special in 2017-18.....and with the huge dropoff at those 2 positions in 2019 (LT, LG) the rest of the line just can't hack it. We can not control the line of scrimmage, and Goff is hugely reduced to mediocre.

Bobby Evans and Edwards are good talents. Evans won't be "Good" til next year...so in 2020, it may be:Boom, Edwards,?? Evans, Havenstein.

I think we may be ok, as long as Boom comes back strong. But, getting an experienced center would be smart. I think we will draft a LT in the 2nd round, if there is one with good feet--and smart.

Zeurlein Extension???

Wow what a massive over reaction to one missed FG. Greg is better than most kickers.

How soon people forget. This team doesn't make it to the Super Bowl last year without Greg.
Wow did you miss the point of my question. I have said multiple times in this thread that I like GZ, and hope, and think they will keep him. I am asking if it is a possibility that they don't re-sign him do to the other demands of the salary cap.

Good lord, it is like people read only the title and don't read the posts. Please point out where I overreacted to his missed field goal... I'll wait. In fact, just point out where I am hoping we get rid of him, or think he is a bad kicker.

Home field advantage?

Look at the tweet I just posted. It's hard to watch.

It has nothing to do with the stadium the 49ers play in, and they are a 6 hour drive or so away which means they have to incur the cost of a hotel, plus the gas and additional food. So it's not cheaper.

The Cowboys training in the area doesn't mean much.

What about the other fans that pack that stadium when their team comes to town? Why are there THAT many tickets available?

Fans not showing up after a team went to the playoffs after an 11 win season and then a Super Bowl after a 13 win season can only mean one thing.

There are in fact not enough Rams fans to fill the stadium. After 3 full seasons and several games into the 4 season I think it's safe to say LA doesn't care very much about the Rams.

Well, I just disagree with that.

There certainly weren't more Chiefs fans during that epic game. Our fans CAN fill that bucket, but LA is a town that tends not to show up when a team is losing.

But LA has plenty of fans.

Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay downplays trade potential amid injury crisis, three-game losing streak

Funny enough, his answers have gotten longer and more upbeat again.

Ramsey doesn't help the OL directly, but when the organization makes trades that specifically say, "we're spending future capital because we believe in YOU guys...NOW", I think the entire locker room has to be feeling a bump.

It's not just a fresh start for Ramsey with the Rams, but the entire team...

TV Coverage Map for Rams @ Falcons (Red)

For a man there are only so many basic colors. Red, pink, green, blue, yellow, brown, purple, black and white. Its a purpley pink color. Also for the record, there is no such color as mauve.

Its kinda like cute and little do not belong in the same sentence for a man.

You forgot orange, green camo, desert camo and woodland camo.

And you're right. Mauve isn't a color...it's how you tell people to get out of your way when you're drunk...

Edit: I can't believe I forgot "dinge" That color of every man's under-shirt or white shirt that he's had for a few years... it's not tan or grey... it's dinge.

A question for the deeper thinkers on the board. (Just kidding)

Couple things here 43...

First, the defense is really the biggest problem we have going this season. The breakdowns in coverage and lack of discipline should be much less now, and I expect that will help us a great deal. The best way to buy yourself time to settle in a young OL is to have a shutdown defense on the other side. We're going to have to wait and see how this goes, since as we all know the translation of what looks good on paper doesn't always show on the field.

Second, what I like about Ramsey is he is a long term and short term investment. He should help us now but he also should help us in the future. Key is IF the Rams can get him inked. Sign him quickly and things should be pointing up for us. Worst case though is the Rams don't sign him, we don't make the playoffs, and he decides he wants to test FA after that next season.

But you know... Even the ancient world was aware of the importance of being aggressive and taking chances. Fortune favors the bold and all that. So even though this might blow up on us, I like the move and am behind it.
Can always tag and trade him

Rams Next Player Transaction?

- I tend to like Brockers more than most here.

- No way is Fowler going anywhere. He’s our only pass rush outside of AD

- Cooks is a great WR and not going anywhere either.

- Our issues were CB (even before Talib went on IR) and OLine. The CB situation is as fixed as it’s gonna get. The defense as a whole, with Ramsey/AD/Fowler/et. al., is good enough to get us W’s. Hopefully we can go 6-1 and then get Matthews and either JJ/Talib back to make a strong push in December. But I think our Defense is what it is.

- OLine is a huge issue. Goff has always been more Brady-esque than Rodgers-esque. He needs an OLine.
Havs has been THE biggest disappointment this year and it’s not even close. Our middle is suspect and teams are going to constantly blow up up the middle of our line until it’s fixed. Any success our team has this year depends on how this line gets fixed...or doesn’t.

- I don’t see any other moves coming mid-season.

Why not Talib at Safety?

I believe this will be Talib's last season & will retire when the Rams season is over. AT missed half of 2018 season. Now we know that AT will miss more this season. His playing performance has been trending downward since the beginning of this season. His once stout tackling has been as bad as Marqui Christian & Peters. Neither of those DB's will be here next season & neither will be Talib.

Rams will have four young talented safeties signed next season......Rapp, JJ III, Nick Scott & Jake Gervase. Plus team Captain & veteran defensive caller & team captain Eric Weddle. Rams have the option where he can return if the Rams think he has enough in the tank. Weddle is already signed so thats FIVE safeties.

Rams secondary @ safety appears very solid & could be a strength of this defense.

Exactly what is Wade's defensive philosophy?

I have followed and studied Wade Phillips for years. When he came to the Chargers he was playing a standard 3-4 scheme. But partnered with John Pagano, he transitioned to the 3-4 hybrid. A standard 3-4 is a two gap scheme for the front 7. The 3-4 hybrid uses the same personnel but aligns them to play a 1 gap scheme, just as it is in a 4-3. The second DE is the WIL (OlB) in this case Fowler. The object of this scheme is to penetrate and attack the offensive backfield be it run or pass. This is why SJD infuriates me because he simply doesn't attack that way. He plays too upright and gets stoned on the LOS.

Wade loves to play press man on the boundaries, X & Z receivers. He plays his safeties interchangeably, i.e. not in the traditional FS & SS roles. Both will switch off depending upon the defensive play call so OC's can't specifically target either. One safety, is generally in the box to jump that short to mid range throw.

In Wade's scheme the WIL (Fowler) is an OLB but plays as the second DE. The SAM (Ebukam) is responsible for maintaining contain by setting a hard edge on run plays or covering TE or RB in the flats. The Mike is responsible for controlling the A gaps and the MO (ILB) is either a coverage capable ILB or a 3rd safety. Because the Rams don't have a coverage safety they expect Littleton (MIKE) to perform that role. With the addition of Young they might have that coverage capable ILB. Young has 4.6 speed and is built like a SS.

This is Wade's base set. But since his days at SD with Pagano he now changes his defensive alignment with EVERY PLAY. This way OC's and QB's won't know what they are facing until the snap. This makes it very hard on a young QB to get his reads quickly and accurately. This is why Baker Mayfield who still can't read beyond his first read will bust as a QB until he learns to read defenses.

On passing downs Wade loves his double 3T & 5T look on his d-line. You will often see AD and Brockers lining up on both 3T's and Fowler and Ebukam at the 5T's. The MIKE (Littleton) covering the A gaps with the other ILB pulled for the nickel DB (Roby-Coleman). One safety in the middle about 10 yds off the LOS and the other safety in single high. So the secondary is playing press man outside, and aggressive zone short to mid range.

What confuses people is that the alignment and personnel packages changes with each play. But if he has the CB's Wade loves man coverage in his secondary. He feels this gives his pass rush more time to get to the QB. Wade only plays zone when he has to, due to injuries in his secondary.

What having Ramsey means is that they can trust him on an island and shade that single high towards the opposite boundary (Long/Hill). With the CB's Wade has had he couldn't play that way, but now he can.
