Now I know we are definitely more focused on winning and going as far as we can in the playoffs, but since we are talking about who to add here, I'm extremely interested in the Rams adding Chris Godwin if the price is right. I get he has his unlucky injury issues but man was he balling out before that. Wondered what the thoughts were on him here on this board?
Man do I wish we had been able to pry Mike Evans away from Tampa in the off season. He would fit this offense perfectly.

I see a big difference between going at someone face to face vs dirty plays during a game.

Greenlaw plays dirty. He's not an enforcer or a defender of team mates. He does things that endanger other players.
Those were all weak after the play things. And he did it in their face so that they could defend themselves.

Not like Greenlaw who hits players when they are down or not looking.

Godwin has been most productive in the slot. Would he be replacing Kupp?

Exactly. Not one of those plays was a cheap shot. Boy, do I miss Donald.

Don't know.

Tee Higgins might be a better option. He's younger and plays the X position.
Yes he is a no-brainer. The key this year for the Rams in free agency is adding a top quality piece to either the offense or defense. And for the Rams either Higgins or Reid fit the bill. Both will receive massive interest of course. But the Rams are an elite organization so both should have us very high on their lists.

Higgins would return the pass game to significance, and if they were to add a guy like Warren as well boy howdy. Rams would never punt. Not a fan of Godwin, who would help us but I don't get the feeling that he would work out as a big ticket FA. Diggs is up there in age plus the ACL. Hopkins is a whiny bitch and a non-fit. Brown hasn't done shit in KC. I think Slayton would probably be the backup option if they can't get Higgins done.

Reid would sort our collection of CB3s into usage that is much more appropriate and give our defense the ability to compete vs an opposing offense's top draw. Of the FA corners he's the only one I'd spend on because of his ability to win in single coverage. Projecting here and I could be very wrong but I think Shula would be more aggressive if he had a corner or two who could man up out there. And he would be particularly impacting due to the strength of our pass rush.

I would rather win a bidding war for one of those two than overpay for a more mediocre option just to fill a hole. We lack impact players. Rams hitting on an addition who provides that would be enormous. Then you move into the draft and add another, and fill up the rest of the holes in the roster best you can and we should be in business.

Not sure I'd say Godwin is a much worse option than Higgins as he was producing better than Higgins has this year. Higgins has had a kinda down year with Chase taking all the real attention. Godwin balled out under the same circumstances with Evans drawing all the attention. Godwin would be much cheaper than Higgins so there's that too. Only issue I see is where do we play Godwin if we signed him.

Where they play is a big part of this equation. Higgins gives the Rams a 6'4" perimeter weapon that Stafford can hit down the sideline in four minute. Dude is a stud.

Here's his big game vs the Carpetbaggers:

Reid? I'm confused. That happens a lot these days.

Do you mean Justin Reid (or, maybe DJ Reed?)? Justin Reid of the Chiefs is a Safety.

Not saying I don't think Higgins will do good, but like any FA, I do worry a bit. My biggest concern with him in all honesty is simply the cost. I'm pretty sure he's gonna get top dollar on the FA market. Not sure if we can swing that with Puka coming up for an extension sooner rather than later. If we find a way to do so I'll be cheering my ass off for him to do well.

Your last sentence is the critical issue.

Why spend $22 mil. on a square peg for a round hole when you can spend $27 mil. on a round peg for a round hole?

Both will be very expensive.

That last part depends on how the Rams envision to use him if they are interested. What we ultimately think doesn't matter even though we definitely always know what we are talking about hahahaha

Godwin will be coming off an injury they weren't allowed to show on TV. Not sure he will be participating in camp. And he's pretty much a slot only wr. Tee Higgins is talented but will play in about a third of his games. He deals with a soft tissue injury like every other week. Get a wr in the draft.

Higgins is gonna get 30+ mill per season. No way the Rams are paying that
Yep. It would be a horrible investment, IMO. Especially if the team doesn't have a starting QB on a cheap rookie deal to offset it. Puka is still going to be the top WR, so why overpay the #2 option?

Besides, only 2 of the top 10 paid WRs in the NFL are set to be in the playoffs so far this season.
Kupp should make it 3 when it's all said and done.

Just too many WRs coming out in each draft class. The position should begin to be devalued like the RB spot.
