Marcus Peters goes into stands to check a fan

Marcus Peters may prove to be more bust than success for the Rams

What some considered a risky trade during the free agency frenzy of the Los Angeles Rams may have come to fruition, as cornerback Marcus Peters looks to be more bust than success.

The Los Angeles Rams went on a free agency tear this past offseason, and while the jury may still be out on the 2018 NFL season as a whole, one acquisition made via trade that looks to be either a disappointment or a bust is that of cornerback Marcus Peters.

Peters, who the Rams traded a 2019 second round pick for, has been part of a defensive backfield that has failed as equally as they’ve succeeded. While some fans have gone out of their way to defend his sometime poor and lackadaisical play, a lot have said, begrudgingly, that he’s disappointed if not failed.

That’ll better be determined when the offseason eventually rolls around, but for now it’s completely fair to say he hasn’t provided the kind of pass coverage LA fans and certainly the organization has hoped for.

The bottom line is that his over-aggressiveness has too often led to big plays going the over way, especially against the New Orleans Saints when the Rams still had an opportunity late in the game to steal a big one on the road. For his efforts, Peters has allowed a 100.0 passer rating in six of eight games where he was the designated defender in coverage.

He’s clearly trending towards a bet the Rams had wagered and lost on.

Even with three interceptions, Peters and the Los Angeles defense has been burned with great regularity. With fellow cornerback Aqib Talib out for a chunk of the season, his limitations became an obvious and clear liability even with an offense clicking on all cylinders. Most troubling however may be some of those issues that led the Kansas City Chiefs to trade him without a second thought, as witnessed in their last home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

To his credit and that of head coach Sean McVay, it may be an issue dealt with, but if his spotty play is any indication, the Rams may be getting burned in other ways beyond how he performs on the field.
The nice thing is if we don’t resign him whenever that is more than likely we’ll get a 3rd rd compensation for him.

Its a long shot...

So we had a loss in the family a fee weeks ago, our bully Jax lost his battle to lymphoma and our other dog Tyson has been depressed ever since. He just lies in Jax's bed all day unless he goes for walks, which is the only time he seems to come to life. So we went this week to fond him a buddy to keep his mind off Jax. I spent 4 hours at the local animal shelter interacting with some ones we liked. Found one that looks identical to Tyson and was the best behaved dog. Adopted and took him home the next day.

So i met my fiance with my other dog at a neutral place to introduce them. Everything went good, he was good with my son, etc. I took tyson home and my fiance took the new dog home later. Came home from work a couple hours after to introduce them again, this time in the home. Well we found out the new dog does not do well with other dogs in the same household. I had to pull him off Tyson multiple times. Tried to walk them side by side to limit the aggression, but the new dog will not let Ty get ahead of him and constantly tries to attack him. Basically, we need a home for this new dog. I really do not want to return him to the shelter so im reaching out to all avenues to try and ring him a home.

Hes great with people and my 4 yr old son. Basic obedience training (knows simple commands and listens when being told "no"), neutered and house broken. Hes a great dog, we just had no idea he was extremely territorial. So if anyone near the central florida area or lower Georgia who wants a free dog, i have medical records, leash, water and food bowl, amd a small bag of food that he will come with. I just want him to have a good home.

Some dogs you just can't do anything about. When they are an alpha dog they want to dominate others. We have two chihuahuas. One is ten pounds the other is less than 5. The small one is the alpha male. He's in charge and the bigger one submits to him every time. The small one would attack any dog on the street if he wasn't on a leash. He goes nuts when he sees another dog. Its just the way they're wired. You're right to find a home for your new dog. He's better off in a single pet home.

Ain't none of you suckas got a wife like me

Lol bro you have no idea.

All I got was a shirt and hat for Christmas because we decided to only spend $50 (she spent $80). But I got a shirt and sign for the house for our anniversary, a Gurley jersey a few years ago, etc.

And - we have a 6 month old baby, yet she has watched football with me from 1pm-7pm every Sunday this year. Had no problem with me taking off for a day to go to Detroit for the Rams/Lions game. Has had no problem with me going out for several Thursday Night games this year. Has prompted me to watch the Sunday and Monday night games this year. And did better than me in our fantasy football league.

When we met she wasn't really much of a football fan.

My wife is a unicorn.

Rams reportedly could rest Todd Gurley again

My guess is that Gurley has either a minor meniscus tear, or a small area of cartilage that needs to get cleaned up. If that’s the case, he won’t be 100% until he’s had a scope procedure in the offseason.

Just speculation on my part (in part based on having had 3 knee procedures myself). Even under this scenario, I bet he’d soldier on and play through it.

My point is— rest may not be enough to make Gurley “fresh and 100%.” But certainly the rest should help.

Adam Gase fires back: McVay sits on bench!

Flip side, why aren't all of the Bengals fans calling for the head of Marvin Lewis..Wonder if he's got some pictures or something in a safe deposit box...I think I would jettisoned him a few years ago...I guess he's the Jeff Fisher of the AFC now...I don't know why I care and suppose I really don't, it's just a head scratcher for me...

They are apathetic at this point. They've called for his head for years.

Is Gregg Williams the right Browns coach for Baker Mayfield?

I’m sold on Mayfield but I’m not sold on GW. At least for the long haul development that will be necessary. Browns should pick their HC very carefully because they are on the cusp roster wise.

I’m no Haslam fan, either.

But I do wish the Browns luck. They and their fans have suffered long enough.

Haslem is terrible, just awful.

I don't know who convinced him to hire Dorsey, but that person, or group of people deserve a raise.

And they need to make sure they keep ZAMPESE as QB coach.

Warner spoke highly of him.

Not the biggest fan of Williams blitzing all the time but, with this team being solid on defense he may control the blitzing. Should be interesting to see what they do.

This is one of a few interesting off season things to watch.

A couple of others..........

Are the Titans, who are a really, really good team despite Mariota's poor QB play and injury issues stick with him or do they make a move in the draft to grab someone for the future. If they had decided to draft Goff they would be the SB favorites right now IMO.

What are the Patriots going to do to bolster that roster? Brady is still a fantastic QB so they should be making lots of moves.

My favorite thought............What if the Eagles win the WC round and lose the divisional round but Foles has big games on both? What if he wins the Divisional round and loses the NFCCG but has three good to excellent games? There will be some deep thinking to do in Philly hahaha. And will fans eat horseshit off the street if they get to the NFCCG???

Belichick has a second chance. Maybe Greg Williams will do better in his second time around.

I think he got that for a couple of reasons. He actually did a very good job in CLE under serious duress unlike anything a HC has to endure.

He also had his mentor, Parcells, who is connected with Kraft probably helped too.

He was actually a great DC for the Rams when he was here.

He was meh. But has done well in CLE. If a new HC gets brought in they would be smart to keep him.

Week 16 Predict The Score-Rams @ Cardinals

Coach needs to be mindful and take what the defense gives. Rams go up 13-6 at halftime averaging 5 yards a play, but dominating ball control by throwing body blows at the short part of the field.

Our running game will pick up in the second half and we stymie the AZ offense.

33-9 Rams

*cough, cough*

Nice Job @FaulkSF will transfer your prize soon

Rams release Pharoh Cooper

I really think Reynolds along with Natson sealed Cooper's fate after his injury as well Kupps injury. Both have shown they could do the job as well or better.

Natson is more nimble on returns (even though that fumble in the Eagles game was costly). I think teams fear Natson more than Cooper.

Reynolds is easily a better WR than Cooper with tremendous upside. I think Reynolds will show his worth in the playoffs as Goff is finding him more and more.

Rams unveiling 12 personnel

Do I think there is big room for improvement & upgrade to our well seasoned & battered savy vet. @ this time ....? Yes. Do I believe it will happen this season ? No.

The matchups we are going to see in the playoffs do make it possible though; Sully was showing his age vs the Bears and they're not the only team with the horses to shut down our run game and simplify our attack.

I'm very concerned about how well Sully will hold up in the playoffs. But that said it's a big benefit to us that we have a young center who might be ready to carry the load.

Johnny's Gonna Have to Up His Game!

Eventually special teams player will start targeting him, if he keeps making tackles like that. Joey Julius was a 259 lb kicker at Penn State. He used to truck kickoff returners. He wouldn't even hang back. He would run right in the pack and hit returners like a heat seeking missile and they'd go flying backwards. Once his reputation was established bigger players would go after him and try to hit him first. It sometimes resulted in a penalty, but it nobody wanted him hitting their smaller kick returners.

I remember him because I read a story about how opposing players started cheap shotting him on kickoffs.

One of the hits he laid on a returner was so hard the guy bounced back a few yards.

Julio Jones needs approximately 168 receiving yards to top 3.00 yards per route run for the fourth consecutive season.

Only once before has a running back with 120-plus attempts in a single season has a running back topped 4.00 YAC/Attempt. Chubb and Derrick Henry will likely both finish above 4.00 YAC/Attempt in 2018.

Has anyone seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet?

I haven't seen it yet, but I will. I listened to a lot of Queen growing up. It's just one of those bands that were on the brown transistor radio I had hanging from the handlebars of my bike. Was he in the top five of my favorite front men of all time? I don't know, man. I think my five go like this. In no particular, order by the way.

Rob Halford
Bono
Morrisey
Prince
Dizzy Gillespe

It's hard because you think the top five front men would make it with any band. That's why they are in the top five. Robert Plant was in one of the most talented bands of all time. It's difficult.
You forgot Ozzy!

Merry Christmas All

Is that a bag of weed on the floor behind him?
OMG...I read the original post way to fast. I thought someone mentioned that was actually Roman Gabriel's grandchild. Stupid is as stupid does. I wouldn't have wrote that, although I was obviously joking, if I realized it was an ROD grandchild. Sorry about that gabriel18!

No problem buddy . I will admit he is beyond spoiled and now it's time to start buying Ram gear for his 5 month old brother . Their Steeler relatives don't stand stand a chance .

Pete Carroll signs three year extension with Seahawks

Well, strictly based upon HC’s I would love to beat?

Asshole Face is now my #1. That smug expression after he’s done some chickenshit thing puts him at the top of my list.

Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick are in a tie for 2nd place with me.

But I do have to give them grudging admiration for their respective results.

Agree. Payton is an arrogant flog as are Carroll and Belicheat. The way McVay conducts himself is outstanding. Proud to have him as the leader of our team.

Anyone else think Everett....

Situations and circumstances.

If Everett were in San Fran he would have and would be putting up better numbers. And if Kittle were with the Rams with Kupp playing in the slot, he would have and would be putting up lesser numbers.

That said, I think we might have seen a touch more of Everett earlier this season if he didn't miss so much time in training camp with the shoulder injury.

Peter King: 12/24/18

The pats have won the division 10 straight times, very impressive. The afc east is the only division like this though. Look at the nfc west, the Rams won last 2 years, before that the Seahawks, before that 49ers, before that cards. All the teams have had a turn on top but not in the afc east, are the Pats that good or is everyone else that bad. I wonder what the rest of the afc east’s record is over the last 10 years, I suspect it’s not very good. It’s hard for one team to dominate without the others sucking ass. When was the last time the bills, Jets or fins even had a qb?

It's a bit of both. The Pats have had next to no competition. Four years ago the Jets were 10-5, and quickly went back to winning only 5 games two years later. That's the best competition they've had in ten years. Miami and Buffalo flash some promise in a few games each year but never make the wild card. That's a crappy division and Belicheat still feels the need to bend the rules. So, I have trouble giving him as much credit as King, but going to as many Super bowls as the Pats have, I guess he deserves some of Peter's ass smooching.

Last 2 games Rams look like a 1 & done playoff team

Yeah, I read all that stuff from one of those Rams Wire pretend sportswriters...they keep it real too

I’m enjoying a 12 win season

Judging from that post, you’re too busy
breaking down film.

Enjoy!
No. Not breaking down film Ramlock...just facing the facts. You don't need film to see missed tackles. I saw that in the game yesterday...and the defense once again taking a whole half before they got it together. You think that'll work in the playoffs???
