Top 100 picks of McVay era: S Taylor Rapp

As someone who follows UW Husky football I can tell you he's legit. What we saw last year was the same impact player he was at UW. His work ethic is outstanding, and his football instincts and acumen are excellent. Although not the most athletically gifted DB his ability to read and react quickly are what makes him special. If he continues to grow he's got multiple ProBowls in his future.

Paired with Johnson, who himself is another impact player, the Rams are well set with their starting safeties. I was elated when they landed him. Remember he was a late second round pick (61) and it shows the level of talent that can be found in the second round. With the Rams having two picks both earlier than last year they are well-positioned to get two very good players.

Landscaping: sounds like a great idea until it's time to do it

This thread is resonating with me. When I was a young lad, my alcoholic-workaholic father had a quasi nervous breakdown. His shrink suggested he take up gardening to relieve stress. Wasnt 5 acres, but he planted everything. Rose garden, tomato plants, azaleas, rhododendron, you name it he planted it. The yard was amazing, right out of Better Homes and Gardens.
Then he discovered golf, and found that drinking and gambling with his buddies was more stress relieving...
Ergo, the yard maintenance? Yeah, you guessed it. I'd have a list of chores every day. Weekends were brutal. I'd have a good 5-6 hours to do, and then work in the restaurant. Ugh... That phrase, take time to smell the flowers? Really hits home
Good luck with the scaping, try not to overdo it....

The Athletic mock draft

No RBs? We don't need a wr what is the value of trading Cooks when he had a down year and could easily bounce back and we are taking a massive cap hit the answer is we are fine at WR. The goal should be to free up one more pick who can start on the line or at ilb or edge not wr.

And this is why I seriously doubt we draft a WR in the 2nd round. And I personally don't even think we will draft one in the 3rd.

Whether we roll with Malcolm Brown or draft someone, it's very likely we use two RBs frequently - after that we have 3 WRs and 2 TEs - that's 7 skill guys who will all see a ton of playing time. Obviously injuries can happen, so I wouldn't be opposed to WR - but McSnead have generally focused on certain positions at certain parts of the draft - I see RB/LB/OL as the focus on day 2 and WR/S/CB for day 3, with some potential overlap for S and OL.

I don't really want a WR drafted that high. No matter who it is they're not jumping Reynolds and if we're basically going to redshirt a WR, i trust McVay to have success with a 3rd/4th rounder

Not Sure What Happened

I've had signal drop in my home since October. I have an Orbi and it was working perfectly. Then, suddenly my internet sucks. I called my isp and they insisted it was my Wi-Fi router. I have a desktop computer but I rarely use it. With home schooling now my daughter uses Zoom with her class. The signal kept dropping, and her video chat would freeze. So I called again. This time I was irritated so they finally agreed to give me a different cable modem. They gave me an older model. It fixed all of my problems. The cable guy said the newer routers aren't as stable. Why didn't they do this month's ago?!

My next fall is to see what kind of refund I can get. 7 months of scrappy internet service that costs $90 a month should be worth something. Thing is I'll probably waste my time since my only other option in this area is satellite internet.

My internet does that a lot. I have Exceed...or what used to be exceed. Satellite is my only option where I live, its terrible.

Moving on from Todd Gurley and Brandon Cooks, My 3 Draft gems

I would love to see them get a guy with a shot to play LT. But Wanogho's knee scares me after all the BS with Gurley.

Finding a LT would be quite a coup for Snead. Even though a starter type at another position would impact us more in 2020.

They could have a reasonable shot at one of Snead likes them enough.Th

Wilson is considered a late first rounder and one of a few players I'd advocate trading up to get.
Josh Jones, Wanogho, and Niang could all be within the area the Rams pick. I recall a lot of people here being high on Niang at one put.

I agree about not drafting players with serious injuries in their past. As good as Gurley was I didn't want the Rams to pick him because of the knee. I guess some could say it was worth it because he was instrumental in getting the Rams to a Super Bowl, but on the other hand that Oline blocked well for Anderson too. So who knows. But in the end the injury but them in the ass. So imo another high first round pick down the drain.

Social Distancing Mock 2020, Enter at your own Risk!

Well, I hear a lot of people talk about the depth in the third round so I can see one or more move backs to draft a lot of guys there. Could be a great move for long term.

I am not opposed to drafting 3 Oline man in this draft. I would probably start the center as a rookie and then let the other guys watch for half a season before I through them in the fire personally, if then.
My feelings to man! I’m getting more excited each day that passes compared to last drafts. We could really catch up to some of these teams in our division again with a great draft.

Draft Memories: David Long Jr. stayed focused all the way through the phone call, and was rewarded

When you are leaving high school, you've got all these decorated players and everybody's judging this and that, but the guys that are really focused on getting better and playing ball every day, those are the guys that meet expectations.
Some truth right there.

Hope this guy arrives in year two as a beast because that is the type of occurrence we're going to need this season to beat expectation.

Hypothetical Goff for Watson? Yay or nay?

I stand by what I said. running QBs suck the life out of your team. Its all about "Them". Kappertat, Vick, V Young and the rest. Most are a dumb as a box of hammers anyway.
Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Mahomes have all won SB, seems like your issue is with QB's that arent very good.
Desean Watson is a heck of a passer.
That said, I wouldnt trade Goff for any other QB
I'd consider trading him for Mahomes, but Kansas City would have to offer a couple first rounders too

Merlin mock part deux

Ya great work @Merlin ! I've seen mocks with LB going later, but if the strength of the draft really is at WR, then it stands to reason that we can get one a bit later & go after an absolute stud LB, something we haven't had in a while. You also address C, a serious need but not with a premium pick, which would be great. Taking a RB later is also a good move, I think we can land a nice complement to Hendo (who I think will bust out if he has a #1b paired with him) in that range.

I also like how you break down where we need starters & where we need depth. Kudos!

Kenny Young

I've watched Wade's defenses for years living in Colorado. I'm not very knowledgeable regarding Young. What I know about Wade is he's set in his ways. Since Young didn't start the season with the team outside of a major injury he wasn't going to crack time in the lineup.

I think those of you who brought up a training camp could change his value hut the nail on the head.

Does anyone know the severity of his late season ankle injury? Just wondering.

Next moves...

That’s where I am sliding my chips. I love this player as a receiver. :horns:

He's a beast. And if he does really break out in 2020, and with Higbee playing a huge role, they could trade Reynolds mid season if they drafted a replacement in April. Or let him walk in 2021. I do like Reynolds though. He's filled in admirably, whenever they needed him. And other teams would see that too.

Independent Contractor Advice

I am a IC. Here's my take, not that I have answers for you.

It really depends on a couple of factors.
1). The state employment laws where you reside: Is it an at will state? Do you plan to pay taxes quarterly( state, fed, FICA, unemployment). This could help if you're let go and have a bearing on your taxes.
2). If the offer ( compensation) is the same as you once received but as a contracted employee then it truly isn't due to benefits and unemployment for release.
3). Are you insuring family members? If so that will absolutely destroy your income potential IMO.
4). Do you need this job? Hiring you as an independent contractor relinquishes the employee for truly taking care of you and valuing your employment. It's very different if you are not solely reliant on this one employer. That is my case. I own a Irrigation company and my value is based off my client list, not just one. So it gives me latitude on who I chose to work with.
5). I'd suggest reading up on IC success with the company and your state. This would give you a true gage as to if it's even worth considering.

Good luck and I hope you're able to make the best decision for you and yours.

Great input my man! Thank you! There is a lot to consider thats for sure.

I wouldn't consider myself as an independent contractor in the sense of this conversation.

But, it seems like @Neil039 gets a perfect 10 on his post with the info he provided

Appreciate you anyway brother

Could NFC West send all four teams to the playoffs?

I mean, at some point, some year, it's bound to happen in a weird sort of way (keep in mind that, for it to happen, teams basically have to split their division head to heads across the board). But the NFCW won't be the first to do it if it's going to happen in the near term. On top of the losses in the original post (and the ones pointed out later), we've also lost Legatron, Natson, NRC, etc.) The Rams are either a 5-11 or 4-12 team right now, and the Cardinals are...well...the Cardinals.

If any division has a shot of that happening, it's likely the Norris.

If this team only wins 4 or 5 games this year than we have bigger issues because that would tell me that Goff isn’t “the guy” and we’ll we looking for a QB next year in the draft.

Considering how much Cooks and Gurley played last year and the fact that even when they did play they had minimal impact I’m not too concerned with losing them. I think with JJ coming back and recent signings we will be better defensively and with the emergence of Higbee and hopefully the emergence of Everett the offense plays better. I think we will draft a RB and Brown and Henderson are also talented so I think we are fine at the RB position. We are obviously set a WR. If Edwards and Evans continue to improve the OL should also be fine.

in my opinion, this season will tell us how good our young coach really is. Had a cakewalk first couple of years and now has his first taste of adversity. The shine is off and now everyone is on the Shanahan bandwagon and touting the Cardinals too. Let’s see if he steps up and proves the initial hype was warranted.
