Why the Rams are successful in finding talent

I would love to see the NFL allow a roster size of 70 or so. A lot of guys are going to get fucked out of showing what they have. That way the guys can have a secured job and spend basically a redshirt year learning the playbook and practicing with our guys.

No reason they can't do it. As long as the owners agree to pay them and maybe make them exempt from game time for the year.

NFL’s Brooks nails it naming Rams’ Rapp as breakout DB

Yep - Rapp & RAMsey got caught up inside on a 3-16 which cost The Rams a playoff chance.

His last game though against Arizona might have been his best all season.

He was lost at times. I find it interesting though with a guy like Oldbutnitdead saying about John Johnson not being a FS.

My view is what Staley has been talking about. Both players can be inner changeable??? Plus RAMsey can move around ? I’ll add D.Williams, & Burgees to nickel. Even David Long.

Just hearing RAMsey talk about Staley. INTENSE!!! Big difference than Wade. Raw Raw walk into your bedroom guy is gone. —Joe Barry loves going against Jared Goff in practice. They needle each other, which is cool to see.

Jordan Reed signs with 49’ers

I don't believe he played last year. He's certainly no downfield threat as he lacks long speed. He had a decent year in 2018 and a downright average year in 2017. He's 30 years old and I don't see him as the kind that will play an extended career. He's been injury prone much of his career now he's coming off one that kept him off the field all last year.

The worst part is it was a severe concussion his 7th of his career. There is no way this guy should be playing. The odds are he won't finish this year and if's a concussion IMO that will be a career-ender.

Way to go Niners sign a guy who is a prime candidate for CTE or TBI. Does Jr. Seau come to mind? There is no such thing as healed when it comes to concussions. I've said it in other posts, concussions are cumulative which is why the Rams dealt Cooks because he wouldn't retire. Even the Rams know the reality of concussions.

The NFL continues to be negligent when it comes to concussions. After a 5th one regardless of severity, the player should be retired and not allowed to return. Cook's last concussion was his 5th. The NFLPA is complicit in ignoring the danger. They should retire a player with full benefits regardless of how many years he's played after his 5th concussion.

Considering the severity of his last one this is an irresponsible signing.

3 ways to pave the Rams road back to Super Bowl

The guy talks too fast trying to get a lot of info in.

His knowledge was a bit off as if he hadn't watched a lot of Rams games or read the ROD posts. He was high on Henderson giving him the starting job at RB. Most here feel Akers will get the nod as the starter. A bit over-optimistic about the offensive line. He graded Reeder too high. Missed the kicker competition. He did get the players right and gave some nice predictions and covered the draft and some UDFAs.

Rams, Woods have discussed extension?

Get it done, please.
He's out performed his current contract. There is no reason that we shouldn't at least try to lock him up.

Woods is a work horse for us.

Agree - he could go down as even a better FA than Whitworth who will be in the Hall of Fame !! What great veteran leadership!!

Talk about Cooks & Gurley.

What Woods has meant to Copper Kupp. Vice versa it is pretty awesome.

Looking for J Smooth(Reynolds) & Everett who is J Strong in my book to have breakout seasons.

2017 draft was awesome, adding Jefferson in 2021 only makes the Depth great, but hard to keep all 4 WR’s past 2020.

All I see are Comp Picks & a Super Bowl Run.

Countdown to Camp: Rams OLBs coach Chris Shula excited to work with "eager" group

I hope so, he could be a steal if he can stay healthy.

I am going to say he is still Raw !!
Staley says he is a smart player. I agree, but going off the Senior Bowl with my concerns.

He needs time to develop & not think.Aaron Donald who is the best of the best, said it best when he said he doesn’t want to have to think when he is playing.
That is the goal & what The Rams are striving for. He should develop & be a steal in 2020.

Ebukham is going to be a STUD this year. Clay got cut because it is Sampson TIME !!!

Lewis just looks slow reacting to plays.

This Burgess Kid in the Senior Bowl showed his skill level. IMO he is not a FS but can play it. Oldbutnotdead thinks JJ is not a FS . I disagree because he can read & react good. He is not slower than Eric Weedle was last season.

Eric Weedle & Clay Matthews were solid Rams & I think 2020 will prove that by there Mentoring from 2019.

Countdown to Camp: For first time, safeties coach Ejiro Evero has hand-picked group

It's been shown on game vids that Johnson doesn't have the range to play a single high FS. He's almost always a step late so either he needs to "process the play" more like Rapp does to gain that step in his reaction times or the Rams need to change up the scheme if they intend to play Johnson. Burgess has the speed to play a single high safety, as he has true sideline to sideline speed. Johnson runs a 4.62 which is about average for a safety. But a FS in a single high scheme you want someone with more range which means you are looking for someone who runs a 4.5 or better or reads plays like Rapp. That's why Jordan Fuller is strictly a SS at this level.

Yes, the Rams have some good safeties but they need to be played and coached properly to realize their potential.

Countdown to Camp: Rams TEs coach Wes Phillips; Group gives team "a lot of options"

One might assume it's because of how valuable Everett is as a receiver, but Phillips reminded that Everett is also a capable blocker. When Higbee missed the Rams' Week 3 game against the Browns, Everett was tasked with blocking players like Pro Bowl defensive ends Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon and "did a great job," according to Phillips.

Everett is a much better blocker than given credit for.

"He's a smart player, he's instinctive but extremely explosive," Phillips said. "One of the best athletes, maybe as far as raw, athletic talent – maybe the best athlete that I've coached. From a tight end standpoint, he can run. He's great with the ball after the catch. The first guy never brings him down. He's strong. He's explosive, from that standpoint running, but what a lot of people don't always realize either is that in the run game, that same explosion, it applies, and he's a tough, tough, tough man."

He is great after the catch and can block. Higbee and Everett make a great pair of TEs.

Rams receiver Cooper Kupp ready to impress entering contract year

From the Podium: Cooper Kupp talks offseason work, impressions of rookie Van Jefferson

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp held a video conference with local media on Friday to discuss his creative solutions to getting on-field work done during the offseason and his impressions of rookie Van Jefferson, among other important topics. Here are some of the highlights and key takeaways from that virtual conversation:

"The regimen really consisted of getting kicked off of every field here in Thousand Oaks, which was fun."

With no on-field work at the team facility during the virtual offseason program, Kupp and other Rams players had to get creative to try to replicate the experience.

Though it required them to be flexible – Kupp said "we really had to stay on top of things, be able to move around and adjust our schedule" – his regimen was otherwise "pretty consistent."

"In terms of all the contract stuff, really letting that stuff be handled by my agent and staying out of it."

Kupp is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but like cornerback Jalen Ramsey, is focused on preparing for the upcoming season and letting his representation handle extension talks.

The former Eastern Washington standout also said he loves being a Ram and that "I don't want to go anywhere else."

"I think he's gonna be a really great football player."

Rookie wide receiver Van Jefferson made a strong first impression on Kupp this summer. Kupp said Jefferson's early arrival in the Westlake Village area allowed the two of them to "run routes a few times," and give Kupp the chance to "pick his brain" and answer any questions he might have.

Kupp said that he's looking forward to being out on the field with Jefferson during padded practices.
