Morris #4 Defensive play caller, and McVay #5 Offensive play caller, says PFF

I am really excited to watch Morris as DC this year.

I hated his work for the vast majority of last season, to the point that I was eventually in the group wanting him gone. I was more understanding at the start of the year, due to taking on new players, a new system, etc. But well into the season, and even in some key games down the stretch, it seemed to me like the Rams' defence was still severely under-performing.

But come the playoffs, Morris seemingly turned it around, and the D was rock solid. He clearly made some great adjustments at half-time in the Super Bowl as well, as the d-line feasted in the 2nd half, which realistically won the Rams' the game, as the offence became crippled by injury.

I am curious to see if the turnaround of the defence in the playoffs was just catching lightning in a bottle, or if the light bulb went off for Morris. Perhaps it was a bit of both.

I am a bit concerned that perhaps Morris was just the benefactor of a world-beating front 7 with Donald, Miller, Floyd, Gaines, an A-Shawn Robinson playing the best football of his career, and company, together with a total lock-down corner in Ramsey. Time will tell. It should be fun to watch play out.
The Rams secondary wasn't great for a lot of last season. A lot of people put that on Morris, I didn't.
If Donte Deayon is even on your active game day roster, you've got real problems.
Bummed about losing Williams... but I think the secondary, overall, could be significantly better this coming year, somewhat offsetting the loss of Von.. although I still expect them to bring a rusher in at some point.

The Rams need Long to keep playing like he did in the post season.. Rochell to take a big jump... Scott to build on his post season.. and Troy Hill to be what he was for the Rams in 20.
If that happens and they get just decent production from one or two of the rookies, they'll be cooking, imo.

Rams looking to buy 34-acre's in Woodland Hills

I remember hearing speculation that Stan Kroenke's real estate group was interested in buying the now defunct Woodland Hills Promenade Shopping Mall (34 acres). I think this was back in February?. It seemed a sure plan if Kroenke could swing the deal that it's use would be that. However a more recent article in May informs that it is not known whether Kronke would develop the property according to previous plans that would create a 10000 seat performing venue with shopping and restaurants and hotels, like mini-SoFi. Or, would he create the permanent home for the Rams training facilities which includes room for a training camp, having everything in one location?

We remember that Aaron Donald sold his previous home, fueling speculation that he was headed to Pittsburg. Instead of that, he purchased a home near Sean McVay in the Woodland Hills, just 15 minutes from this site. Matthew Stafford and Jalen Ramsey live close by as well. BYW, Kroenke did indeed purchase the site for $150 million dollars, but like when he first purchased the old race track in Inglewood, he likes to play his cards a little close to the vest.

Rams Les Snead on latest updates with the team (great interview)

I like his immediate burst and that he seems to have some strength. At 6'1" he may be able to put on a few pounds too. I'm sure Coen has some insight on him. I'm not really concerned that he was released by the Queens as they have a pretty good RB situation there. It would be nice if he becomes the power back we just don't have.
Yep I agree. I noticed he fumbled the ball in one of his runs. He will need to work on that. But overall a pretty good looking back.

Eric Dickerson on The Pivot Podcast

i always turn the channel when these ego maniacs bloviate their clearly biased stories. i'd like to think i wouldn't be as bad if i was a former great athlete, but who knows.
Sorta with you. I don’t mind when ED and Magic say pro Rams or Lakers stuff. That’s normal for most franchise legends in any sport. It’s when they say stupid shit that, because of their franchise status, can cause problems for their teams.

Dickerson has always been an arrogant and selfish dude. He just backed his BS up on the field, which is why I've always been a fan of his. Still have and wear his jersey for that reason.
Same here. I pretty much tune him out completely nowadays, but because of what he did on the field for us, I still wear my blue Dickerson jersey just about every game day.

Chris Simms' Top 40 QB rankings

One thing I'm going to enjoy is watching this year's QB class adjust to the league. I've said more than once that I think they don't get credit for the impact of COVID on the snaps and practice and rhythm the position requires and I think there was more talent at the position than people realize. Will some of these guys prove me right? Bueller? :laugh2:

Well this is probably moreso about the Falcons realizing how fucked they are if Mariota is the guy, but...

LA Rams PR/KR Brandon Powell will be more special in 2022

They really just had Kupp out there when the Rams were close to the goal line for his hands, Kupp fair caught everything. But I agree, don't have Kupp out there at all as teams might take a cheap shot regardless.

Powell was huge last season and I know I've debated the numbers game at WR, however, IMO, Powell is too valuable as a return specialist and could end up an All Pro in that capacity.
The only reason why he’d be an all-pro though is the young guys & system imo. He had some nice returns.

Here are the 5 things I’m most interested in observing this season…

@Rams43 many ILBs could be an upgrade over Reeder. I watched the whiner playoff game and there were at least 3 plays where he was dragged by a receiver or RB for a first down. Even the announcers were getting irritated calling it.

Reeder was nothing more than a back up. I wish him the best of luck with his new team.

So yes, Wagner will be a huge upgrade over Reeder.

7 things I love about being a fan of the champions

Great story. I have a friend who's a big whiner fan. He talked shit all season long and I had to eat it because we lost to them twice in the regular season. He was really laying it into me before the NFCCG. He even had a 49er (victory) party at his house which I politely declined to attend. He asked why I wasn't coming. I told him because you won't want to be in the same room with me when I rain on your parade after the Rams win and stamp their ticket to the Super Bowl. He talked a bit more smack but I have hardly heard a peep out of him since the NFCCG and then as a cherry on the sundae, the Rams are super bowl 56 champs.

UPDATE - Aaron Donald Contract Extension - SIGNED

He already has an ungodly amount of money. Ungodly times 2 doesn't move the needle much. For a family man who knows that no amount of money can buy back the time he losing with his kids, this is a totally rational decision.
Who knows what his thought process is.
Is he a family man like Kurt Warner or a family man like Evander Holyfield? Haha. Who the hell knows?
Money, for most people, always moves the needle. Just not for the money itself but what it represents.
