Trey Lance on the trading block

Other than they could have used the first of their number 1 picks that they traded for Lance for Micah Parsons and still had two more number 1 picks to restock their roster. I think the Lance trade cost them 2 Super Bowls. Now the Bosa bills come due. He’s going to reset the market for defensive players at between 35-40 million per year.

That's just it. It doesn't matter if the whiners find their qb of the future. Their trade for Lance hurt them for the last couple of years. Who knows if that impact player, or players, they didn't draft would have been enough to put them over the top and win the superbowl.

Space Exploration - James Webb Telescope / Mars Rovers, etc

I had not heard this full recording before. What a cool listen. Intense.

They were inside 30 seconds of running out of fuel when they landed on the moon.

Thank you for that, that was amazing. first time I've listened to a long length transmission of any mission of that sort. Very interesting. Wonder if they have a long one with video anywhere?

NFL needs to 'seriously' look into grass-turf debate

So you are saying there is zero cushioning effect with artificial grass/turf?

Not at all. The cushioning for the most part is an improvement over the literal carpet they used to play on.

The issue isn’t cushioning, it’s the right level of failure of the grass roots. Too easy to fail and the grass is slippery like in the Super Bowl. Too little failure and cleats get stuck and joint injuries happen.

The biggest problem with artificial turf is that between a knee getting blown out or the turf failing and throwing a chunk of sod, it’s always gonna be the knee because it literally can’t throw a chunk of sod. Because artificial turf cannot fail in the way that grass does, all that is xtra load or torsion or torque is applied to bones and joints and ligaments…

NY Yankees >>>>>> @ DieterBrock

Love that they are going with Volpe and am disappointed that Dominguez is down, but I am certain that he will be up at some point.
Kills me that Hicks and Donaldson are still in 'Stripes but it is what it is.
Their pitching is going to be great this year, 2nd best re-signing of the season (next to Judge of course) was the re-signing of Matt Blake
Nasty Nestor has proven to be the real deal. Last 46 GS.....255 IP, 189 H, 59 BB, 0.97 Whip, 260 K, 17-7 2.68 ERA> love watching that guy pitch.

Why do fans and the media argue with success?

Drafting for a starting QB is a real crap shoot. More fail than those that don't, hence the constant churning of the established vets and rookies. You draft for traits and coach them up well.

You draft a QB for his traits both physical and mental, that fit your offensive scheme. McVay needs a smart football savvy QB with a strong and accurate arm, but most of all a high football IQ to mentally dissect the defensive schemes pre-snap.
They fail no matter where they're drafted. In fact, 1st round QBs, given the expectation of 1st round value, cost a team more when they fail then a 4th round or lower QB. And they fail quite often.
I get that you like McKee, but, IMHO, he would be a terrible pick at 36. McKee might have had the least production in college of any of the projected drafted QB prospects in this draft including AR (who comes with elite traits). Sure, he may have a strong arm but he's a literal statue in the pocket with zero mobility. I've seen it said a few times, but he reminds me of Mike Glennon in many aspects.

One of my most trusted NFL scouts has him projected as a 5th rounder, behind the likes of Haener, O'Connell, and my dude Hall. I just cannot fathom taking him much earlier then that with, in my eyes, superior QB prospects projected far below 36.

Then again, we all see prospects differently and I could be (likely) completely wrong on this one.
I wouldn't be in favor of any QB at #36 except the kid from Florida. But chances are pretty good, none of the top 5 will make it out of the first round.

How big of a loss to LA Rams roster was PK Matt Gay?

Wow wheels are really falling off this team. Took 2 nail-biting seasons for them to find Gay.
Rams couldn't resign him? is the AD and/or MS contract really that big of an albatross?
It's not the stafford contract.
That one is in line with value.

AD's extension was borderline extortion. Maybe he can play up to its value (if anyone could it would be him).

Rams must accumulate more draft picks in 2023 even with 11 already in quiver

From another thread:
I’ll never be able to comprehend the advanced complex mindset of McSnead. But my take on their current strategy is:
1) The Rams are keeping a handful of cornerstone players they believe are key to success for the next 2+ years and not paying those that are not needed.
2) The Rams are going to flood their roster with cheap young talent. And see how many are worth retaining beyond 2023.
3) The Rams are setting themselves up to be very active participants in trades and FA next year to fill in the gaps.
4) Rams will not tank but realize items 1-3 will limit their success in 2023. But give them a great opportunity for success in 2024 and beyond.

Marquise Copeland: 'Great to be around the guys again, great to be around my coach again'

I like Copeland. Think he is a good, versatile back-up defensive lineman.

Nice guy to have on the roster. Provided he is not playing more than 25% of the snaps.

However, the fact that Copeland was one of the 3 or 4 players selected to speak to the media on the first day of off-season workouts is a clear reflection on the dearth of talent on the current Rams' roster.

Yes, they will fill-out the roster. In fact, I bet the Rams draft or sign somewhere between 25-30 players (at a minimum) in the next ten days. Unfortunately, only three or four will be top-100 players in next week's draft. The rest will be late round picks and undrafted free agents.

Maybe ... if the Rams are smart in their talent evaluations and decisions ... half-a-dozen will turn-out to be good players. That's just not enough to field a good roster in 2023, in my opinion. I am hoping for some second-phase free agents but I don't see much cap space right now to get that done.

GOD DAMN, I hope I am wrong. Good News ... Guys, I am wrong a lot! (No Sarcasm)

Av’s FINAL 2023 Rams Draft Board (Top 40)

Interesting List

Israel Abanikanda, Cody Mauch, Keele Ringo, Eli Ricks, Sean Tucker (medical), or Andre Carter wouldn't make my top 75 or even higher.

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia
O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
Will McDonald, EDGE, Iowa State

Group B (in no particular order)
Adetomiwa Adebawore, DL, Northwestern
John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota
Felix Anudike-Uzoma, EDGE, Kansas State
Steve Avila, OG/C, TCU
Joe Tippman, C/G, Wisconsin
Matthew Bergeron, T/G, Syracuse
Derrick Hall, EDGE, Auburn
Tucker Craft, TE, South Dakota
Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State

Group C (in no particular order)
Juliis Brent, CB, Kansas State

Brenton Strange, TE, Penn State
Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
Sam Lapota, TE, Iowa

Top 5 players, if Rams can have anyone:

3. Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
4. Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
5. Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

Should the Rams explore moving Van Jefferson?

I would 100% trade him if we got offered anything.
Same. He seems like a great person but I want more dogs out there at wideout. Guys who are gonna battle. It's not a size thing, more an attitude thing that we need for that room. That and some more speed.

If the Rams are thinking wideout that addition better be that type of player. Otherwise just trade down a bit, go get a TE (there are some feisty fuckers among them) and start plugging holes.

Ramsey traded to Miami for ‘23 3rd rd pick(#77 overall) and TE Hunter Long

Ramsey took too many chances in Morris' bend-and-break scheme.
Yeah I suspect he freelanced a bit too much for Morris' liking. We'll never know the truth of it because we don't know what the calls were when we watch the tape, but he has a tendency going way back to act like it's someone else's fault and sometimes it feels like he's overselling it.

Like when he hit Rapp in the huddle that time. Could be that he was at fault. But if so he's the superstar so he gets away with it and everyone assumes Rapp was wrong. We of course will never know.

All this stuff aside it's not a bad thing for him to go to a new team where he has to prove himself again. Sometimes that shakeup can help the player and the teams in question.
