Overall Draft Goals

Yes, that’s the right answer, but…

McVay predictably will want to try to juice the offense with a WR or RB or TE. And there could be some real prospects still there at #36.
There cold be and I've said countless times none of us know what they'll do in the draft. But the thread is Merlin talking about what he'd do not what the Rams will do. And there will be good players on both sides of the ball and McVay always says he wants play makers doesn't matter the side of the ball they want impact players.

For everyone looking to draft a RB high...

My comp for Gibbs is Jamal Charles. Not only are they more similar size wise, but they have a similar game IMO. I get the Kamara comps too, but Kamara was nearly 220 when he came out I believe.
Agree! There are so many metrics that show how difficult it is for RB's Gibbs & Achanes size to succeed as an RB1. Kamara is a much tougher back up the gut, McClellan started to get Gibbs carries in short yardage and goal-line at Bama and ended up with the same amount of TD's for this very reason. Go back and watch Kamara he was a guy who broke tackles all over the field not just on the outside at speed. McVay may have a plan for a Gibbs type and I think he may be there, if so I am all in but I do have some concerns.

What Draft Pick Did You Want To Work Out...

but for whatever reason, never did?

For me that would be Sam Bradford. Am I right, @-X- ? We sucked so bad to earn that number one draft pick and needed a young stud so badly. We had hope after he dinked and dunked his way to the OROY. But that was the best he'd ever be... :bigcry:

Who is your biggest draft hope, destroyed by reality?
Sam Bradford

Robinson signs with Giants

To me, it looks like they haven't shut the door on a return to the promise land when we have a ton of cap in 2024
I thought of that. I also wonder if maybe those guys are not as good as we think. Maybe the defensive losses won't be as bad? I kinda hope its because they want to return and the Rams are clearing space for that next year. Those guys all contributed to playing solid defense in the championship run.

Couch feels good

Not sure how many of you know the Reno area but my wife, oldest son, and I just hiked to the top of Peavine mountain from the base. It's only a 6.5 mile hike up but has a 3000' elevation gain. It's no mount Everest or McKinley (did that about 30 years ago) but for a day hike, it was pretty cool.

Keep in mind that my wife went through triple fusion surgery on her back less that a year ago. Hell... She did better than I did.
I used to travel around the country when I wasn’t busy with work. My two favorite memories involved climbing/hiking. In the Tetons my buddy and I hiked to Lake solitude. That was seven miles.

The other was when I backpacked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I camped for a day then hiked back up. I did both ascent and descent much faster than the average person. I pushed myself.

So, yes there is something about climbing that really sticks with you. But the tired legs the next day are just as memorable.

Rams pre-draft mailbag: Cam Akers expectations, draft plans and…Caleb Williams?

What's funny is I listen to expert takes on a lot of the players from early round 2 range on into round 3 and feel like it's hair splitting on ranking them because I don't see all that much difference rather just different types. Teams are gonna have them slotted based on fit since they're all similarly good players. Guy like Tuli or Adebawore if a team wants a strong edge and physical front addition with versatility he will be valued.

On the recent 11 podcast the guy was talking about Hall being more of a round 2 early guy. Well that all depends on whether you think he's that guy at the Senior Bowl. Because if you get that guy yeah you might have something. And I'm fine with the Rams going that route but I've been watching Tuli for example long enough to know that he's going to be a stud in the NFL I just don't know where he's gonna play. But it's pretty rare for me to like a tweener that much. Probably falling for the homer USC factor here but whatever I'm a fan I can do that.

Big question about Rams defensive needs

With what they've lost, are the Rams even looking at getting a comp pick? Other than Gay, has anyone signed a remotely large deal?
Yeah, they aren't due a lot of comp picks because of the really low contracts their guys signed. I assumed at least Baker would get a decent 1 year deal, but he signed a back up QB contract when, it appears, he is the starter in TB. Screws us, but oh well. I think it was more about not having any cap space this year to sign anyone, rather then waiting until comp period is over. Also, guys signed after draft tend to come cheaper and we will know where we need the help after the draft.

With the 36th selection the Rams choose?
