He's going to get 15-17 per yr closer to the 17 then the 15
I don't disagree, but he hasn't hit the open market yet. FA players can negotiate with their own players for several more days before they hit the open marketOf those players who do not get tagged, many are re-signed BEFORE they hit FA, even if it's last minute. It's not like every player hits the FA market.
All I'm saying is if a team loves a player, and if that player loves the team, a deal gets done before he hits FA typically. Going back to Pryor the spin is he loves Cleveland and is loyal to the coach. I'm not buying it. If all that is true, he'll sign before he becomes a FA. If, however, he hits FA, he will be wearing another uniform next season. I'm very confident I'll be correct on that.
If he came back to the Rams, would he play C, OG or maybe TE?
Your Right, Carl Ekern stepped in at the MLB spot for a year, then Jim Youngblood for a year, then Jim Collins for a Year. Then the Team changed to a 3-4 scheme. But I still say losing Reynolds to the 49ers was BIG! And it hurt us for several reasons!!Could be wrong Dave, but even after Hacksaw left, we were pretty solid on defense. Think Carl Ekern replaced him....
Then it has to be wrong. because that was the Number two days ago ... and the Cap went up more than it was projected to
Thanks for the input! Will post more after work.Nice mock and trades! I was thinking of moving Barron back to SS under Wade, but trading he and Hayes makes sense to find better fits for Wade's hybrid 3-4 and save $$$ too. Very interested to see what Wade can do with Dominique Easley and Matt Longacre.
Living in the DC area it was hard to watch Nsekhe knowing the Rams let him get away and then endured the GROB debacle. Hope Kromer can work miracles, but GROB is probably headed to LG. Garcon would certainly be an improvement but local radio has the Redskins prioritizing Garcon over DeSean and I doubt Gruden would let both get away in FA.
Also like the resources and changes made at Center. Rams need a veteran to come in and be the captain of the OLine.
Did you see that the Rams signed former Utah Utes QB Travis Wilson who converted to TE? I hope the Kendricks and Harkey eras are over and the Rams are going with Higbee, Hemmingway, and Wilson and adding a true FB for Gurley.
I've got Eddie Jackson going in the 5th round in a mock I'll post soon. I'm also drafting an OT in the 4th but it's not Roderick Johnson. Johnson has more talent today than Brad Seaton (Villanova) but I'm looking at upside since both of us are acknowledging a veteran LT is needed in the short-term.
Well, since this is a preview thread, I believe every "fact" or opinion is made up from somewhere.....He doesn't have to beat out Greg, because he won't be competing against him.
That is something you have made up.
Look again at Roger Saffold....I believe he's the highest paid lineman on the team...Could be G-Rob now....but LT's usually make the most money. They are typically more talented, block the best opposing teams rusher, and are responsible for protecting the QB's blindside. However, a lot of teams have pretty good D-LE's....so your RT (if the QB is also righthanded) needs to be better as well. It's the reason I wanted Barksdale replaced. Oh yeah, that 3 sack game vs. Houston...no, not the team, the player for KC. You can't have spots like that on the line blocking for young QB's....Guards are better. So are Centers....Look where they draft guards now...centers too. QB's hate pressure up the middle....Interior OL's are more valuable...and getting compensated for it.Who makes more money? Guards or LT's? Why do you think that is?
Might be one of the only things I like about Snead.
Hell yeah and now you have Johnson making more then him lmao, this is a disaster reallyWas Jenkins worth it?
dude, you beat me to itI think it's rigged , it's been 51/49 % since it first started , it hasn't changed 1% in either direction the entire time I bet it finishes today at 51/49%
I personally blame the Russians
I believe it's a combination of things....primarily that OLB's make considerably more than ILB.All I know is what I read at NFL.com they have Zach Cunningham Listed as a OLB
Name: Zach Cunningham
School: Vanderbilt
Position fit: Inside linebacker
Stats to know: Finished fourth in run stop percentage among all FBS inside linebackers in 2016
What he does best:
- Outstanding thumper that loves taking on and destroying blocks from linemen, tight ends and lead blockers.
- His size, physicality allow him to be effective in man coverage against tight ends/
- Has the athleticism to play the run from sideline to sideline as well as get effective depth in coverage; should not come off the field.
- Broke up seven passes on 86 targets over the last three years.
- Doesn’t vacate gap assignments by running around blocks; willing to take on, stack and shed to the ball.
The two obvious things about Cunningham that stand out are his size and athleticism. At 6-4 he would be one of the taller inside linebackers in the NFL. He has great length which is normally coveted in outside linebackers but works well in tandem with his outstanding athleticism with him patrolling the middle. Cunnigham is a sideline to sideline type of player but aside from his range what I came away most impressed with was his read and react ability and vision. He can consistently diagnose where the play is going and get himself into position to make a stop.
He's actually compared to Mark Barron...a role I could see him filling.Today’s linebackers may not be the burly guys who once roamed the second level because of the necessity to run, chase and cover. So much so that we are seeing safeties like Mark Barron (6-foot-2, 213 pounds) of the Rams and Deone Bucannon (6-foot-1, 211 pounds) of the Cardinals transition from safety to playing full-time on the second level to provide the range and skills required to match up against the spacing and personnel today’s game presents.
Vanderbilt linebacker Zach Cunningham is a unique player in this draft because he offers the athletic profile and length that can fulfill the demands required to play off-ball linebacker and be the chess piece to counter today’s wide-open attacks.
The only concern I have with Zach Cunningham is in his size. Cunningham is a bit underweight to play up the middle. His lack of size also resulted in some missed tackles as bigger backs were able to shake him. However, he possesses the frame to add plenty more weight. The question there though is how that will affect his athleticism.
Probably a rookie...Very deep draft class for RB's....with gobs of talent...and plenty of tread on the tires.Who will be the better 2017 free agent RB pickup - AP or Jamaal Charles?
We can only hope and pray!!There’s no indication that his departure from the Referees Association could signal an impending departure as a referee.
Donnie Avery? The Rams have needed a WR for almost 10 years and can never seem to get one. The steelers seem to be able to identify WR talent without using first round picks on them. Yes they've had their share of misses, but the Rams have had zero draft hits at WR for a decade.
While the Rams may or may not go for a WR with pick #37, I'm pretty sure they won't go for a CB their! like most of these guys^ think! Unless we take care of all our O-Line needs pre Draft! which I doubt!• Sports Illustrated: Chris Burke, SI.com (published 2/8)
Second Round, Pick No. 37 overall
- JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
"Ideally, you want a WR who can break open on every play. Smith-Schuster may not do that, but he uses his outstanding hands and body positioning to make catches in tight spaces."

• USA Today: Luke Easterling, USA Today (1/16)
Second Round, Pick No. 37 overall
- Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
—————
• SB Nation: Dan Kadar, SB Nation (2/6)
Second Round, Pick No. 37 overall
- Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
"The Rams could use an offensive lineman, but Conley can be the No. 1 cornerback the team has needed. He could very likely carry a first-round grade from many teams."
Second Round, Pick No. 37 overall
- Rasul Douglas - CB - West Virginia
“This riser is going to be getting plenty of looks on Day 1. He has the highest boom-or-bust potential of any highly rated corner in the draft. He could be the top corner the Rams need."

• San Diego Union-Tribune: Eddie Brown, San Diego Union-Tribune (2/8)
Second Round, Pick No. 37 overall
- Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma, Sr.
"The Rams could use someone to stretch the field, opposite of Kenny Britt— Tavon Austin
is more of an intermediate threat."
"Westbrook won the Biletnikoff Award — best receiver in the nation. Of his school-record 17 touchdowns, 12 were for 40 yards or more."
Third Round, Pick No. 101 overall (projected compensation for CB Janoris Jenkins*)
- Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA, rSr.

Paging Mr. Garcon....I love the idea of signing a splash player... but I think I'd rather our approach be to spread the available budget across the tier two free agents.
Great topic, Den.
- We can sign more players
- Lower risk... most FA are free for a reason
Edit: I do think Sean would like a Washington WR to help deploy things offensively, if the fit is mutual. But that's a guess.
Please tell me how we are the most undeserving fanbase, when we have stuck by our team through all the bad years. Whiniest? There's a thread on here crying about the schedule. Saying we're #1, but it's not football-related is just an ignorant comment. We have always sold out our home games. When I went to St. Louis, I was able to move up 12 rows to some empty seats on the 50-freaking-yard line only 6 rows up. Oh, and it's a FOOTBALL team, so everything is football related. This thread obviously Triggered you. Go find a safe place and deal with your emotions. The Cowboys are the Justin Biebers of the NFL. The most over-inflated fan base in pro sports (their #1 NFL popularity is obviously not based on football-related reasons, so there you go). So I'm shocked they're picked once again to sell all the merch, ads, and attract the hits.
The worst part about all that is now they actually are good and at *football,* so the world's largest, whiniest, lamest and most undeserving fanbase will actually be even more insufferable for the foreseeable future. The Cowboys' smartly developed a dominant OL, and their 2 rookies are spectacular. If the Rams hadn't come home this would probably make me lose interest in the NFL altogether.
