I think Goff is helping McVay, and maybe even as much as McVay is helping Goff

There are times Goff’s fakes are a good yard away from the back so I tend to disagree. McVay worked with Cousins for three years...and Cousins is very good at fakes.

They are executing a fake stretch handoff when they do that. IMO anyway.

A couple of you guys pointed out the Gruden potential influence and I hadn't thought of that........good catch

What Saints Fans Are Saying Before And After The Game

Asshole Face: Process of evaluating Coby Fleener concussion “took place in a good way”

During last Sunday’s loss to the Rams, Saints tight end Coby Fleener left the game with a concussion in the fourth quarter.

That development couldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone who saw the shot to the head Fleener took from Rams defensive back Blake Countess while trying to catch a Drew Brees pass. What did come as a surprise was that Fleener was allowed to return to the game to drop a pass before anyone with the Saints or otherwise charged with watching for possible concussions thought he should be evaluated.

On a Wednesday conference call, Saints coach Asshole Face said that “the process took place in a good way” because Fleener didn’t immediately have any symptoms.

“It wasn’t until a play or two later — I want to say early the next series — where he was having more of a vision issue and as soon as Dan (Campbell), his position coach, realized it, we held him back and went ahead and had testing,” Payton said, via Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Given the nature of the hit, the fact that Fleener clearly looked shaken up when he got back on his feet and the mechanisms in place for calling for an evaluation, it still seems like a miss that Fleener wasn’t taken to the blue sideline tent right away. This is the fifth concussion that Fleener has suffered while playing football across all levels and we’ll get a sense in the next couple of days where he stands in terms of getting cleared from the protocol.

Pharoh Cooper

Finally, and I was blasted earlier in the year for offering this...but since it’s now a popular sentiment in this particular thread...Cooper has the ability to do all the things Austin does for this offense...in some ways better (as a true receiver). As a runner, he may not make as many highlight plays, but he won’t take as many backwards running losses either.

I wouldn't blast you for that... I agree completely (that Cooper can do all the things Austin does. Having a spirited discussion on that very topic in the http://www.ramsondemand.com/threads/why-did-tavon-hardly-play-yesterday.52315/page-7#post-996393 thread).

Austin in another one of those Rams that polarizes fans... it's hard for some to accept that his role has diminished now to the point that he is easily replaced by Cooper in all the things he does.

Maybe Austin is able to take the snaps he gets for the remainder of the season and impress the hell out of McVay.

We'll see...

Several thoughts after reflecting on the Saint game win...

I don’t know how to post game film I don’t possess, but if you get NFL REWIND or follow the link for replay in another post here, you will see Austin lined up in the backfield behind Goff, Austin goes right and blocks while Jared looks to throw a screen to nobody on the left and gets hit for intentional grounding. Perhaps you have a different explanation?

yes, it was gurley in there. tavon wasn't even on the field.

.

Joyner is elite at safety

Check out the numbers... this defense is doing better than anything Williams trotted out there.
If it's because Williams never got the lift from an offense, well... I wonder who was responsible for that?
So I guess it’s cool to bash a coach cause things didn’t work out instead of just being happy that it has finally started to turn around, and actually be happy that our defense was good to begin with. And as far as stats right now they are about the same with one major difference-the amount of time the defense is on the field and the number of offensive plays that the opponent run.

If you think this team succeeds without fisher/GW defense that’s on you but I can guarantee that when Phillips saw this roster he was happy and eager to take the job and that’s more than any other coach can say about what Fisher has inherited. He had to gut the offense and defense.

You throwing out other boards like I’m a Newby here. I left those other boards for this one because when I was visiting I thought this board was better than that.

And if you read the post that my original post was about you would have saw that it was in response to bashing Fisher.

You bringing offense into a conversation and topic that was strictly about defense not about Fisher coaching ability but about his ability to locate/draft/sign/development defensive players.

Peter King: MMQB - 11/27/17

The problem is Tennessee is no longer a top program to attract that kind of coach.

Top offensive mind could be a guy toiling as an OC with another program. Doesn't have to be a big name, just someone who is sharp and will give you an edge in scheme and teaching of offensive football. Take a flyer on a guy like the Rams did with McVay, and grow a great young coach.

Going to Arizona

I think Gabbert > Stanton. I hope we put them away early so we can put our backups in. :p Dont want injuries piling up.

Who is backing up Gabbert? Is stanton healthy? Bc you know theyre going to need at least 2 QBs.

Stanton will remain the Cardinals' backup quarterback Sunday against the Rams after head coach Bruce Arians named Blaine Gabbert the Week 13 starter, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports. Facing the team that drafted him 10th overall in the 2011, Gabbert carved up the Jaguars for 241 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 38 attempts in a Week 12 win, including two big throws on the Cardinals' final drive that led to a game-winning field goal by Phil Dawson. Though Gabbert's ball protection has left something to be desired, his 6.9 yards per attempt over two starts exceeds the 5.9 mark Stanton put up over three games (two starts) in place of Carson Palmer (arm) before Stanton suffered a knee injury that paved the way for Gabbert to earn a look.

Sean McVay 11-27 presser

While talking a lot about Gurley and the amount of snaps he took, absence of Dunbar, I found that not mentioning Justin Davis, who only took one snap, interesting. JDavis seems to be in McVay's doghouse.
Yeah not sure doghouse is the word I'd use. I just think he doesn't feel Davis is ready for pass protection which we saw on his one snap he didn't really do well.

Barwin fractured his forearm Sunday. Expected to miss 1 or 2 weeks

Wow.. from a medical standpoint I can’t see how anyone is back in a contact sport in 1-2 weeks with a fracture even with a hard cast... hmmmmm
I may have to ask Elattrache ...

Time for Ebukam to step up again like he did vs saints. I think he will be up to the task. Heal up quick Barwin we will need you going forward.

The Early and Late Games (wk 12)

LOL are you kidding me? Rams are rated last in SOS. You got your wish

http://theramswire.usatoday.com/201...est-schedule-in-the-first-half-of-the-season/

Rams had statistically the easiest at the midway point and the Eagles had the second easiest. The Rams then had the 20th ranked and the Eagles had exactly one easier. At the halfway point.

But now the Eagles have had the easiest schedule. You've played two teams that are above .500 and have two more in your schedule above .500, the Rams and an injured Seahawks. Rams have Seahawks, Titans (divisional leader), and just played against Saints and Minnesota, both divisional leaders.

Don't be daft.

Our Defense after 10 games ... what do you think?

I see a CB being drafted early, a NT signed in FA, and OLBs from both. This D is close to being very good. Obviously, we have to shore up those gash rushing plays we like to give up early in games and get a little more pressure on the QB on a consistent basis. But do we have any complaints on how we did Brees? I'd hope not because he was under duress for most of the game this week. Like already stated, we don't have a lot of depth (or none) on the back end of the D.

I agree here big on the current & future issues in our secondary. With CB Trumaine Johnson, CB NR-C, CB/S Lamarcus Joyner, safety Cody Davis & CB Troy Hill all involved in Free Agency in March...then add in that the Rams have zero in talent in reserve to fill these mentioned DB's....would make the 2018 DB prospects to be scouted hard.

After 10 weeks we know what teams are.

I can certainly rearrange them. No issue there. Will discuss with mods!

actually i was just trying to be funny. :sneaky:

but if you are gonna make a change try to get all the good ones on the right. i'm sure you won't have people being upset about getting a like, haha, high five, cheers or thread winner. (y)

although if you do swap them around people may press the inappropriate button out of habit because their brain has been conditioned to know the like button is there. you might be opening up a can of worms.
