PK Sam Ficken Signed

I wonder if they take the training wheels off Ficken this time. His longest FG for the Rams was 35 yards when he was starting...

I think they will, Ficken looked much better in preseason seemed more confident and made every FG and extra point, although, not many were tried. Hopefully, he's over the yips he had early and he did not miss a FG in the playoffs, so there is that. I just hope he can kickoff deep and be able to kick from 55 yards and in, with the hope that Zuerlein comes back in 2-3 weeks.

What Cardinals Fans Are Saying

How the freak is that lame ass offense going to score two TD's and two FG's against the Rams defense when they could only put up 1 TD in garbage time and 221 total yards of offense against WASH?????

The QB is Bradford and the RB is limited with a back issue.

This could be a shutout or a 31-3 type of game.

20 points my freaking ass, no way!

Damn you were close.

Vontae Davis retires at half time. Can’t stand it anymore.

Bills coach Sean McDermott acknowledged the development during his postgame news conference.

"He pulled himself out of the game," McDermott said. "He told us he was done."

Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander also told reporters that Davis abruptly retired at halftime. Alexander called the move "completely disrespectful."

"Never had seen it ever," Alexander told reporters, per ESPN's Mike Rodak. "Pop Warner, high school, college, pros. Never heard of it. Never seen it. And it's just completely disrespectful to his teammates.

"He didn't say nothing to nobody. You know as much as I know. I found out going into the second half of the game. Coming out [they] said he's not coming out, he's retired."
appears it took veteran cornerback Vontae Davis six quarters to figure out he's not onboard with helping the Buffalo Bills turn things around this season.

In a highly unusual move, Davis retired during halftime of Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. As in effectively immediately. As in he didn't join the team on the field for the second half.

UPDATE: In a statement, Davis explained his decision to retire Sunday:

This isn't how I pictured retiring from the NFL.

But in my 10th NFL season, I have been doing what my body has been programmed to do: Get ready to play on game day. I've endured multiple surgeries and played through many different injuries throughout my career and, over the last few weeks, this was the latest physical challenge.

But today on the field, reality hit me fast and hard: I shouldn't be out there anymore.

I meant no disrespect to my teammates and coaches. But I hold myself to a standard. Mentally, I always expect myself to play at a high level. But physically, I know today that isn't possible, and I had an honest moment with myself. While I was on the field, I just didn't feel right, and I told the coaches, 'I'm not feeling like myself.'

I also wondered: Do I want to keep sacrificing?

And truthfully, I do not because the season is long, and it's more important for me and my family to walk away healthy than to willfully embrace the warrior mentality and limp away too late.

This was an overwhelming decision, but I'm at peace with myself and my family. I choose to be grateful to God for allowing me to play the game that I have loved as a boy until I turned 30 years old. I choose to be grateful to God for being a part of the NFL and making lifelong friends over the last decade. There were roadblocks and pitfalls along the way, but I am grateful to God for all of it because he doesn't promise any of us an easy journey.

Lastly, I am grateful to God for what he has in store for me ahead, in this next chapter of my life.

Hurricane Florence

About the typhoon...I have online friends in the Philippines. I hope to fate that they'll be okay.

I hope so too..........I've seen a few pics and it's not good. Hopefully they got to one of the shelters.

I heard an interview with a woman who stayed behind. She thought she and her family would be safe because..........ready for this? They live in a brick house. Just fucking stupid, like that protects you against massive floodwaters............ like @PhillyRam said it's terrible that rescue workers had to risk their lives to save this woman and her kids.

How the HELL do you put your kids in harm's way like that?

Rams restructured Barron’s and Longacre’s contracts before the season opener

Isn't Barron's deal for this year and next?

Would not be a lot of dead money if Rams had to cut him, right?
Dead money was not an issue. There was $1M that was going to count this year anyway. There's $1M for 2019 and $1M for 2020. If he was, or will be cut, between May 2018 and May 2019 then the $2M will count in 2019 rather than being split. It wouldn't have counted in 2018.

Why is this Ram O so difficult to defend?

I dont know if its the talent or McVays creative plays that gives them the biggest advantage, but the combination is lethal. Very few Ds if any have the talent to match up with the Rams WRs while stacking the line to stop Gurley. And if they show Goff that they want to stop the run he audibles to a pass and vice versa. McVays way of making runs look like passes and passes look like runs keeps Ds guessing and gives the WRs that split second to get by a DB or block a DB before the DB knows whats happening.

Celebration Thread: Rams@Raiders

Not sure the LOL! was necessary. The starters took their roughly 30 snaps together and were ready to start the season. They just didn't have to wait long between pre-season and the regular season.

I do have to wonder if McVay would have employed the same strategy if we were opening against a team like the Beagles or Viqueens.

From the interviews I've watched and read, it seems like the lack of tape on Gruden since he hasn't coached in 10 years was what caused the slow start. The first half was a feeling out period to see what type of strategy he would use.

We could all see he was going to have Carr get rid of the ball in a hurry(2.2 seconds) and hit Cook or someone else on short throws. Don't know why it took until the second half to make that adjustment.
