2019 NFL Draft Big Board: Matt Miller's Latest Rankings

Three players from Penn State that would be good mid round pickups:

Shareef Miller. Big long armed DE. Plays the run and rushes the passer well. Not sure of weight or if he could fit as a Connor Barwin type OLB.

Amani Oruwariye was their best corner. He is tall and long and good in man or zone. Early season draft boards had him in round 1.

Kevin Givens is a good DT who rushes the passer and stuffs the run. He was stout against the run and pushed the pocket.

All three of these guys played well for PSU this year. I’m sad to see them leave early.

Advanced Josh Reynolds and Jared Goff have connected the "DOTS"

He's learning! I'm not convinced that wide open "Miss" from Goff against the whiners was Goff's fault like the talking heads were screaming. Sometimes they seem to be off a bit on their connections. Wrong routes/catch zone? Or just learning each others tendancies?

They’re quick to put that on JG.

I’ve been over on another Ram board where they’ve “evaluated” that Goff “chilled” on his couch, slacking during the bye week when he should have been fully engaged with football. By their objective assessment, of course.

I had to go laugh at them.

It will be nice to finally enjoy the opening day of the draft even if it's going to be very late selection. I have not begun to study the 2019 draft class yet but I understand it is loaded with DL'ers & with so many good DL prospects along with the usual fact that NT's do fall a bit Rams might be in stricking distance to snag one. With all the mess surrounding Clemsom Tigers NT Dexter Lawrence suspension he might fall some too. Other NT prospects like Raekwon Davis or Derrick Brown would fit.

I am concerned about those allegly two possible 3rd rd awarded Comp selections for Johnson & Watkins. Both missed major parts of the regular season due to health issues. Neither had a good yr nor will they play in the post season. I believe both will be 4th rd awards thus resulting in the Rams having to give our only 3rd rd pick to Jax.
I like Brown.
Haven't looked much into it yet.
Yeah, big difference between 3rd and 4th round picks.
The first round pick HAS to be an impact guy.

The truth is...Rams DL Aaron Donald is the MVP of the NFL

Anybody think Donald still should be MVP? I think Mahomes wins it in a land slide. Though that shouldn't undermine the season Donald had this year.

Agreed! Although, I would be thrilled to see AD win the MVP but like you said I think Mahomes will win it and it will not be close! And, To be honest I think either AD, Mahomes or Drew Brees (I DON’T like the Saints but I do have total respect for Drew Brees!) would be good choices for the NFL MVP!

Breakdown of Goff vs Bears

All this showed me was that with a little discipline and playing like their capable of (ie not dropping balls, stepping on each other), having a healthy Gurley, and tossing in a dose of CJ....we'll be just fine.

On the offensive side of the ball, this team does not seem to repeat many mistakes game to game. Now if we could just get our ILBs to play their gaps....

Rams 15.4 PPG allowed with Talib

It does give me hope, but small sample size and quality of opponents make the Rams defense a true unknown.

But we have a chance. Here's hoping these guys ball the F out and get 'er done.

I see the season and sample size from my big screen and I don't sugar coat or look through rose colored fans glasses.

The Rams have had their asses kicked late in the season and for good logical reasons are considered an overrated 13-3 team with obvious flaws.

I know you don't play the homer card and you tell it like you see it etc...

I just don't see it the way many others have based based on the chinks in their armor shown from the New Orleans, Chicago and the brutal loss at home vs the Eagles.

Sure there have been other hints vs Green Bay along with other games earlier in the season.

This has been a flawed 13-3 Rams team for various reasons but in my eyes, they are and have been the best team in the NFL from opening day.

We are going to find out soon just how good this team really is in 9 days.

Which Uni's for Saturday (Playoffs)?

What's nice about the color rush jerseys is the dark navy blue horns/numbers match the dark blue of the helmets. All they need is the dark pants paired with them and you got yourself one badass lookin uniform.

Yup. I agree. I like the darker #s too.

The Rams brass is pretty tight lipped about the 2020 uni revamp, but they keep emphasizing that they respect the Ram fans overwhelming preference for royal/yellow.

That yellow with the darker blue may be the new scheme--same as the classic, but with a darker blue, sorta like Michigan's colors, maybe.

We'll see

Saturday Games Week 15

Greg Robinson has actually turned it around this year and has been playing pretty good left tackle for the Browns. I find myself rooting for him.

Cleveland Browns: LT Greg Robinson

In the first half of the season, defenders burst through the Cleveland Browns offensive line. Quarterback Baker Mayfield was under siege; he took 22 sacks in his first seven games. Once Freddie Kitchens took over play-calling duties for ex-offensive coordinator Todd Haley, Greg Robinson started at left tackle, and the front line improved its pass protection in the following weeks.

Andrew Gribble, of the team's official website, highlighted the transition between undrafted rookie Desmond Harrison and Robinson on Mayfield's blind side. "After a tough game for the entire offensive line Week 8 in Pittsburgh, Harrison fell ill," he wrote. "It was Robinson's time to shine, and he capitalized on the big opportunity. Since Robinson has taken over at left tackle, the Browns have surrendered just five sacks over seven games."

The Browns beat writer also credited Kitchens for his play design, which sped up Mayfield's decision-making process and focused on getting rid of the football.

The Browns should re-sign Robinson at a premium position. Harrison struggled before his illness. Despite Robinson's disappointing past with the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions, he's at his best in Cleveland. The No. 2 overall pick from the 2014 draft may be on the way to rejuvenating his career.

    Verdict: Deal

How About That O-line?

Wow. After years of poor OL play, we finally have a top 10 unit. Wow.
I'll skip the trip down bust lane, I'm sure someone else will pick that up.
But what an addition Whit & Sully have been, though we might want to figure out what's going on w/ Sully. Saffold no longer the best OL'er we have (by comparison), he now has equals on either side of him. Big Rob rounding into the top RT in the league (can't underestimate them top RT's). Blythe proving to be an amazing draft value. With Noteboom waiting in the wings, gosh. Finally.
