Hollywood films suck-Quality movies are on Netflix

As Bob Dylan once said

The times...........They are a changin

Welcome to the 21 Century boys

We're not a planet of nations anymore , we're a planet of corporations

if you don't believe that , then you truly don't understand how the internet , and Google work , or Twitter , or Facebook , or Youtube , or Netflix

and of course Hollywood is cashing in on it , I mean duh !!!

but China , yea , thats a large part , but it's only one part

take India , Avengers Endgame sold out every screen in the entire country for opening weekend , weeks in advance

try getting a ticket to the Brazil comic con in South America , you can get tickets to the Super Bowl easier then you can get tickets to San Diego comic con

Take our beloved Los Angeles Rams , Kroenke and Demoff are trying to do the exact same thing , they are trying to turn the Rams into a Global brand , games in London , Mexico City , Hawaii , and even next year in , yes , China !!!!

The Los Angeles Rams aren't just about Los Angeles anymore

and as far as Marvel movies , I love them ,

well , most of them anyways

I go to a comic book movie , for the same reason I go to a rock concert

I want to be entertained for two hours

It's like going to a 80's hair band concert , I want it loud , I want simple catchy lyrics , I want lasers , I want fireworks , I want explosions , I want to leave temporarily partially deaf

I like to think I'm capable of enjoying all kinds of media without having to drag one form down

I love the classics ,

But when I go to a Marvel Movie.................

Rams closing in on stadium naming deal

Still... Sofi??? We're talking the naming rights for one of the best venues in all of sports with TWO winning franchises and a guaranteed Super Bowl in the coming years... If they're gonna go with some company that has a gajillion "this company screwed me" stories, I'll just refer to it as Rams stadium and screw the sponsor.

I believe any company has that story, with maybe the exception of Little Sister's of the Poor, but even then the WASP's would get upset, so to steal and rephrase from the great Abraham Lincoln: You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.

How will McVay avoid “tells” when he inserts Henderson and/or Everett?

Those “tells” can work against you in the right hands, and unfortunately Belichick is the right hands.
I forget the exact details but I remember hearing that the Pats did something they hadn’t done in any game all year in the SB, it caused confusion and uncertainty and McVay has said they didn’t adjust well.
So is Belichick establishing tendencies just so he can break them at a crucial time? You can’t put it past him.
I think Henderson and Everett will be added into the offense as another layer, if you suspect you know what’s going to happen that’s what gets you in trouble.
Jeff Fisher’s offense was predictable because there weren’t many threats, there weren’t many plays that worked well so it wasn’t hard to figure out.
The Rams offense was already explosive and now they’re adding more to it, but teams like the Bears and NE have an effective plan against it, McVay has to evolve and adapt and I think he will.

Yeah, when they lose games in the middle/late in the season, it wouldn't surprise me if Belichick and the Pats go in with a game plan that's meant as a misdirection. And if they lose or perform poorly, teams will take that as "this is how you beat them".

I hate to say it, but NO ONE in the history of the game has been better at the meta strategy game than Belichick. Not even close. I'm sure Ernie Adams is a VERY big part of it. It wouldn't surprise me to find that they have "detailed files" on every team including tendencies and that they use their season as a way to set up teams they feel that the may face in the post-season.

doesn't always work, but their success rate is pretty good.

I know when the Broncos beat them badly in the AFCCC, Wade had THREE different defensive game plans... one for the first half, one for the third quarter and another for the fourth quarter and as soon as the Pats adjusted, there'd be a new game plan inserted... was genius and you could see how frustrated Belichick was at that. Wade had never done anything like that.

That's how you have to beat them... show them something they haven't seen before.

Training Camp UC Irvine

@Ramlock , thanks for finding the dates. Nothing on the Rams web site at this time.

Like @bubbaramfan said, parking is $10, if you buy it in advance like the day before. The day of parking it is $15. Plenty of food and drink (that's where you'll find Bubba and me) and activities for the kids.

Each of the past three years the Rams have improved upon this event. It really is geared towards the fans. You'll get to me some Rams legends and have pictures taken with them (if the line isn't too long), get autographs, souvenirs and sneak a peak at the team practicing. OH! Don't forget there is always a couple of cheerleaders wandering around willing to pose for some pics.

Good times ahead! I can't wait!

Five Takeaways from the third week of OTAs

I hate being negative but, this was one thing that bothered me all last year.

Same. And it's also something that McVay's offenses struggled with in Washington if memory serves. Either way, when you ask "why" I think the potency of the run game factors in. Yeah, the Rams run the ball well, but they aren't very good at mashing it when the other team knows it's coming. Improving that (which I think is a focus this year) plus Goff getting another year under his belt is going to help.

Another thing that will help is passing game improvement in two facets: Kupp playing a full 16 as well as the TEs stepping up. Hopefully both happen.

Chernobyl: Best Mini-series I have ever seen

@Dieter the Brock : I immediately responded to your post above with anger, and I deleted it. I thought about it and watched a few videos of USSR life, and I see your point. To you, the show shows a dreary USSR society with no color. But I put two reasons why it seemed to be that way on this show: The first being that the show began in the evening during the disaster. Lighting is/was fluorescent, which always has a yellow unhealthy glow. Then after the explosion of the core, radioactive dust settled on everything. We didn't see that many pre-disaster video of Chernobyl city before the event, only the in the aftermath when looking back. If you watch the last episode, you will see the control room and the room above the core as being very clean with green tile. In the later shots of the wife that was relocated (along with the whole town) to a dreary set of government built apartments. I imagine these were dwellings of last resort and were very bad. After all, you don't dump a whole town of people on another town and expect grade A lodgings being available. Plus, it was a cold winter with dirty snow. Dirty snow is common everywhere until the next snowfall in every snowbound city around the World.

You said: "The miner thing was gay. Literally. Bunch of naked miners in a dark black tunnel.... I guess some people like to see man donger - not me. I like great tits. Not some fat dudes dick. But hey, to each his own."

I guess if liking to see a group of independent men defying authoritarianism is gay, then count me in. I never knew these guys existed, and even Secretary General Gorbechev feared their independence. I thought their willing sacrifice as free men, expressing their contempt for authority by mining naked, but using the ineffective face masks as a "middle finger" to the system was spirit affirming. For more on their sacrifice:

I’d rather watch Zapped on and endless loop until I die than watch Chernobyl dick scene again

Dante Fowler article

The Bottom Line here with Dante Fowler & Micheal Brockers ...is the long term salary cap cost factor. In truth, it may be very lt difficult to resign both of them.

The "however factor" is IF one of these two decided to remain a Rams for the next 3 or 4 yrs & take a Ram Org. fair offer to play here in order to enjoy being on a Championship Winning Team then one of these two just might be here for the future.

I am thinking that Dante Fowler Jr. is the much better fit & might be leading to do just that. Brockers is a very good 43 D player who is still in the prime of his playing career. He is sure to get much bigger $$$$ offers than the Rams can come close to matching. It's my belief that DE John Franklin-Myers is a much better fit @ the 5 tech post in so many ways....i,e, much significantly lower cap cost, better pass rusher, younger & fully healthy & fits the 34 D Wade scheme better.

Blythe aiming to become 'more physical, dominant player'

I've been saying let the competition begin at RG. Glad to here that Blythe looks bigger and stronger coming back. Also, that he knows he needs to work harder during the season to be ready. For right now he is the starter. He can improve but, he will have young guns ready to take his spot. Just hope he learns from last season and makes adjustments. It will be interesting to see what happens because it is the last year of his contract.

After missing 2018 due to injury, DE Morgan Fox happy to be back

If Morgan makes this team it will have to be playing at 3 technique behind Donald. Because right now Franklin-Myers is backing up Brockers at DE. Otherwise they would have to move Franklin-Myers behind Donald. JFM flashed last year and IMO he is penciled in as Brocker's replacement next year. Physically it appears he could play behind Donald. When JFM was drafted I had to do a double take. But I liked his play in his limited snaps. I think he could be better than Brockers who didn't have much of an impact. I'm not saying JFM is the answer to a long term starter at DE but what I am saying is that he is probably better than Brockers at this point.

I can see a Dline of JFM at DE, Gaines at NT and Donald at DT next year.

Entering year three, Johnson joins Weddle, vets as a leader in the L.A. secondary

Joyner was frequently slow to read the play making him react late. With his short stature it limits his play radius so he many times looked to be a step late. If a safety has average speed (4.5+) he needs to be taller than Joyner's 5'8" or he needs to make quick reads. This is where Weddle's mentoring will pay huge dividends to Johnson and Rapp, because Weddle's ability to read plays quickly is outstanding. After watching Rapp at UW for years, I can say he's a similar type of safety as Eric. Rapp has always played much faster than his timed speed because of his ability to diagnose the play quickly. Rapp in many ways is a classic strong safety, with the length to match up with TE's, quick and a strong tackler.

Odds to win it in 2020!!!

Couple things. Not sure why Chiefs are 3rd their best receiver by a mile is gone and same with their running back. I don't care how good their QB is that is a ton of fire power gone.

Secondly the Rams deserve imo the #1 ranking it's Goff's 3rd year in the McVay Offense. McVay has grown as well. Our DBs/Safeties overall are much better by adding Weddle, Rapp and Long. Same key coaches, top STs in league, best overall Wr and RB Corp all back plus addition of Henderson.

Only 2 concerns excluding Gurley possible issue are the Run D with Gaines, Keiser missing Suh we will see how his play helped AD. The other issue is Allen and Noteboom can they be as effective as Sully and Saffold. Allen most likely yes Noteboom I doubt it so the run game may suffer but both got basically a full red shirt year to bulk up and learn Rams football.

The offense with Kupp back, Reynolds got alot of work in last year and the TEs are a year older. The turnover was minimal and they learned what it takes to make the Superbowl

This year another 13-3 layup imo with home field throughout the playoffs. All these factors best STs, best Offense in league, a majorly improved defense who showed up in the Superbowl and this year I feel will be better makes for us deserving the top spot.

10 Observations from OTA No. 9

10 Observations from Rams OTA No. 9
BY Myles Simmons

1) The Rams held a shorter, lighter practice on Wednesday, giving the session more of an above-the-neck approach. Instead of having a couple of stretching periods for different groups, Los Angeles held just one with the entire roster.

2) During individual drills, the defensive line went through the five-man sled — having to hit it, then rip through before moving on to the next space. In all, each lineman had to hit the sled three times, skipping one spot to keep the line moving.

3) Wide receiver Cooper Kupp was involved with the quarterbacks during individual drills, catching passes in the corner of the end zone for the signal-callers. The rest of the wide receivers were going through a different, more intense set of drills.

4) After the individual drills, both the first-team offense and defense held a jog-thru against a scout team. This is one spot where the above-the-neck approach came through, coaches were giving a good amount of instruction throughout the drills.

5) While the club wasn’t going full speed, tight end Gerald Everett made a nice one-handed catch in the front-right corner of the end zone to cap a red-zone play.

6) After a while, the starters on offense and defense came together on one field to get more work in. On the other field, backup quarterback Blake Bortles was leading the charge against the reserve defense.

7) Given the above-the-neck approach to the day, it’s no real surprise that head coach Sean McVay took a lot of time to provide instruction — taking moment before different plays to ensure all players were on the same page to run things properly.

8) The offense mixed in some different personnel groupings over the course of the period besides the team's standard 11 (one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers), rotating in different players and positions. McVay has previously said that he would like to use some more personnel groups throughout the course of the year.

9) Even at the slow speed, it’s easy to tell the versatility of the defense. The Rams had different players blitzing and were consistently changing things up in coverage. It’s likely going to be tough on offenses to figure out which players are going to rush — especially in known-passing situations.

10) At the end of the short session, rookie safety Taylor Rapp remained on the field for a while with safeties coach Ejiro Evero and cornerbacks coach Aubrey Pleasant to receive a little extra instruction. The Rams’ second-round pick does have a chance to contribute early on in his career.
