Fansided: 5 Moves to Free $80M

...........for me it's a matter of whether management believes we are in a position like 2018 where a top free agent (Suh) and a big trade (Cooks) can help take us deep into the play-offs once again, or whether they think 2020 is more of a developmental year and proceeds to rely on the draft, our younger players, and look to shoot our load in 2021 for another deep play-off run. jmo.

Your post here on the above Riverrunbbq would be a very good new thread post discussion IMO.

Snead has clearly stated he was of the belief that his built team was still SB contender material....I do not hold his beliefs on this current pending 2020 team. My judgement (@ this time) is this 2020 Ram team would tip to a larger % being involved on the Developmental area.

NON Playoff Ram units under development:
#1-Offensive Line
#2-Defensive Line
#3-Edge Rushers
#4-Interior LB'ers
#5-Special Teams

Set Playoff Ram Team units:
#1-Secondary(y):giggle:
#2-Wide Receiver(y):)
#3-Tight Ends (y)
#4-QB

Draft Talk / NFL Talk

With the season over, each year we shift any draft talk to Rams NFL Talk. It’s the dominant topic (the draft) for the next couple of months... so let’s talk about it on the main board.

We will keep mock drafts, in the draft forum.

We’ve found in recent years it’s easier this way. So many topics touch the draft, trades, etc... It feels like NFL talk for this stretch.

Cheers!

Hey Ram fans

1999.

had Dick Vermeil.

This... I hate to say, but with Vermeil, I think we win the 2001 SB. He had the fundamentals and valued a run game more than Martz and emphasized a greater overall toughness. The unheralded difference was the Old timer coaches would have still been there, instead of a bunch of them leaving when Martz took over. That was a lot of experience leaving the building,

I also truly believe the loss of John Bunting as Co DCoord after the 99 season took a lot of the fundamnetals and defensive toughness with him as well.

Offseason Outlook: Dante Fowler Jr. set to enter free agency for the second time in as many years

Couple of questions about keeping Fowler...

Just how much did his stats benefit from playing in that front 7 with AD? I’m thinking it was a lot.

And where does new DC Staley come down on keeping Fowler at the likely FA market price vs other options already on the roster, other FA’s, or the draft? Same questions apply to keeping Littleton, of course.

I’m prepared to see both Fowler and Littleton leave, frankly.
Agree.. they need the picks.

Tag & trade this yr for Fowler and get a 3rd round comp next yr for Littleton.

Because next yr they only have a 2,3,6, & 7. So they need picks. Hopefully a Fowler trade could be for a 2 this yr and maybe a 5 next yr.

Brockers should also net decent pick and possibly Blythe or Christian get a late pick next year as well.

McVay: Take some notes

That's why I said "possibly". But all things considered, for as much as I dislike Hill on a personal level, in terms of talent he's right there with Ike and Torry, if not better. For me personally, Mahomes is better than Warner. Adding TE to the weapons evens it out, although obviously Faulk is the ultimate x factor and probably puts the Rams over the top there - but with Mahomes and Kelce, I think it's close.

We're talking about Hall of Fame players. Hill doesn't approach that. Kelce is great, but the other wideouts of the Chiefs couldn't hold a candle to Bruce and Holt. Saying that Mahomes - while he's on a good pace - is better than Warner is not accurate. And the Chiefs don't have anyone who compares to Marshall.

And that's not even talking about the offensive lines of the teams.

Duck hunting brings back a funny memory for me too.

1st let me say... I'm not a hunter. I've been fishing since I could walk... but hunting has never been a thing for me. But there was one time that I agreed to go hunting with a friend.

My Grandfather had just picked up a new client. It was a guy who created this thing called a Gheenoe. It's a canoe with a flat back end that you can attach a boat motor to. No more need to row your canoe. The company is still in business today. Anyway... the guy gave my Grandfather one of his brand new Gheenoes as partial payment for some work. So this thing had never been used and it was sitting out in the workshop.

My friend believed that he was the world's greatest hunter. He had spent thousands on guns and camouflage hunting clothes. He had been begging me to use that Gheenoe so he could go duck hunting. This friend was kinda on the slow end in the brain dept... there was no way that my Grandfather was going to let him take that Gheenoe out on his own. So,,, I finally agreed to take him out duck hunting in it. I wasn't going to hunt... I was going to watch and fish.

My friend shows up dressed in so much camouflage and shit that he looked like he could actually hide from the predator. I could not believe the crazy amount of shit he had on. It was impressive really. He also had a very expensive gun that was basically brand new.

We get out on the water and it's unbelievably cold. I'm driving the boat and he is in the front telling me where he wanted to go. He directed me up to an area that he wanted to set up his hunting blind or whatever on. So after lots of loud direct orders from him about where I needed to put the bow of the Gheenoe up onto the bank... he was finally satisfied.

He collected all his shit so that he could take it all up on the bank at once. It was a tremendous amount of shit. I remember being amazed at the amount of stuff he was carrying as he stepped off the front of the boat. My friend was a big dude too.

When he stepped off... it seemed like time had gone into slow motion mode. He stepped off the boat onto what looked like a bank covered with plants. It turned out that the "bank" was actually just a super thick patch of water hyacinths floating on the surface. He stepped off and sank completely under the water and thick layer of hyacinths. He was completely gone. The only thing that remained was his super expensive hunting hat that had managed to come off his head as he sank down... it was on top of the hyacinths. But he was completely gone with his mountain of shit in one fluid motion. I simply could not believe my eyes.

It took way longer than it should have for him to come up from the the frigid water and hyacinths. He was in full panic mode and doing his best to tread water without dropping any of his gear.

What was I doing at this point you ask? I was laughing so hard that I was completely useless to my friend. I couldn't control it... it was completely involuntary laughter that was not stopping no matter how hard I tried.

Let me say this too. It is very difficult to climb into a Gheenoe from open water. In fact, it was impossible for my friend to do it. He managed to throw most of his gear in the boat... and then I had to drive the boat over to an actual bank while he held onto the side freezing his ass off with water coming up over his face.

We got to the bank... he climbed in... and the hunting expedition had ended. We went straight back to the boat ramp and loaded everything up and left. He was as miserable as a person could possibly be even when we were inside the vehicle with the heat blasting. I was still laughing like an insane person.

I think I was still laughing about this for days after. If I could have filmed that whole thing it would have been worth millions. Especially if I had captured the look on his face when he came up out of the water... I'm still laughing about it now just thinking about it.

That was my one and only hunting trip. I've always considered it to be unbeatable... so I've never needed to go again.

My Booger/Media Rant!

I can't tell you how much that irritates the fuck out of me. Where the local network thinks we want to listen to their hosts rather than the actual feed.

I'll give you a prime example here in Australia. It was the masters years ago when Greg Norman was in the thick of it. When it got down to the last 6 holes and Norman was up for his shot, instead of going with the commentary feed from the tournament the local network switched over to some Aussie reporter standing in the crowd. He began whispering his commentary while Norman lined up and took his shot. Beyond frustrating. It made me want to switch it off but the lure of Norman Fucking it up again somehow was too strong.
The BBC doesn't have 'official' adverts so I understand the need for their own commentators to fill in the ad gaps with analysis. In short doses i'm ok with Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell. I really hate the changing channels thing during live events and I really don't care for the 'we must cater for people who are watching for the 1st time' attitude. That attitude doesn't apply to any BBC program outside of sports.

Is the Super Bowl hangover real? How past losers have fared next season

I do believe you can't do the same things you did the previous year and the 49ers most likely won't be able to run all of the time, they will have to win some games via their Quarterback.

Overall I think there is somewhat of a hangover, how could there not be? The Patriots didn't because they had been through it before, but if you're a young team and lose, it's tough that following year to get over it...I know how I felt just losing at the collegiate level, I could not imagine an off season losing the Super Bowl, again JMHO.

For those who want to remake the O-line

Rams will work his deficiencies, which was mainly strength and hand technique and particularly in pass pro. He'll compete for the job. And we'll see from there. I am certainly not writing him off just like I'm not writing off other guys who struggled last season, but I do think competition is required. And I would like to see a leader added to this interior group because Sully's loss was noteworthy there.

Agreed. There were so many breakdowns, right across the line, it was difficult to work out who had blown their assignment. Then Demby joined the line and it got even worse. Allen needs to work on his leverage/technique but has physical tools to work with.

I don’t see many FAs who could come in and solidify our line. So a trade might be needed. Of course, that might mean we give up a pick and our chance to draft Ruiz in the process
