Ranking the supporting casts of recent first-round quarterbacks

Thats a dumb one. Sort of screws with the logic of the article...

But, anyway... The Jets need to add some beef at WR. I get they added Perriman and Doctson, but that’s not enough for Darnold.

Jets need WRs, CBs, pass rushers and OL.

Both starting Tackles are gone; and they signed Seattle’s George Fant for 3 years and $30M but there’s an easy-out after one year. Fant was usually the 6th OL when the Seahawks went with the power running game.

Interestingly, Seattle signed the Jets RT Brandon Shell in Free Agency.

The Jets GM was hired after last year’s draft, and is a former OL who believes in building the lines. Could see them using their top pick on a tackle, or making a trade for Trent Williams. With a fairly high #2 and two high #3s, they have the capital. However, they also have a ton of needs. As CGI mentioned WR is near the top.

Which of these prospects would you want the Rams to draft if available?

Please excuse my typo in my prior post. Kindle has crap autocorrect. It was supposed to say 'I picked whom I thought was the BPA from that list.' And I also said teams group players that are closely rated. So if they have four players from their board available when they pick, need factors in. I can see BPA being a bigger factor in round 1. When the Rams pick at 52 they will have more than one player from their board to consider, unless a player that they rated much higher drops in their laps. But need is always a factor when there is a group of similarly rated players on a teams board at the time of the pick.I

But you said there will be a good center of guard available in round 3. So you addressed the position and not the player. So you are basing your pick by position.

Of that list I like one player better than Cushenberry and that is Winfield. But I'm don't know how Staley uses his safeties and the Rams have JJ. So my next closest player is Cushenberry. BPA at a position of need.
I look at the quality of this draft and see a lot of value in the C and G positions in the mid rounds. I expect Snead to do what he usually does and trade up or down to match the value with the need. I could see him moving down at least once to get value for his pick.
If you think Cushenbery is the BPA, then that is who who should draft. I just rate other players higher than him. The Rams seem to be very interested in WR Mims, if he is still there, he might be their pick.

Report: NFL owners wanted NBA-like max contracts in new CBA

NFL agents must have a lot of influence if the majority of players in the league didn't want this. This is a no-brainer for anyone but QBs and HOF talent players at other positions.

Yeah, I don't get it, given that the salary cap is a zero-sum game, as every $ that goes to a QB is a $ that can't go to another player.

Either way, they need to do something. Teams have such a hard time finding a quality QB, and then when they do, they get punished for locking him up.

ROD Credit and SportsBook Reset

Pretty sure this is a few years in a row. Clearly I post too much in a couple threads that artificially boosts my moneys.
I think i've posted less in the last 12 months than I have in previous years. I don't bet on my own events because it's a lesson I learned from 2 very scary bookies. About 2 months ago I wasn't in the top 10. I guess I must be getting a lot of points from logging in and reading threads. :)

Rams resign Blythe

RBs will fall. But our #52 is too soon for a RB with out other needs. Same with WR & TE (maybe even S, DL too). If one of the stud OTs, LBs or Cushenberry is available then you take them. Otherwise, drop down since there are lots of good value that will be there for us at positions of need between 60-120. Get a RB in the 3-4th rounds.

NFL clubs approve 14-team playoff format

Interesting, I like the additional team thing then, in that case. But they should have a stipulation, that only a team with a winning record, can make the playoffs, in addition to the 6 teams in the conference minimum, unless they win their division. 8-8 teams weren't good enough to be above average.
No stipulation needed, they added another team. If the 3rd WC is 8-8 or worse, so be it.
And in reality, how would you exclude them anyway? 7 teams from the conference will make the playoffs, NFL isnt going to give up a playoff game

Rams re-sign Whitworth for three more years

Sorry bout you're so far off base here you'd be tagged out in the Dodger game from San Diego. This is a very good value and is only a 2 year deal. This was a great signing.

It’s the 7777 that he does was more of my point.Whitworth I knew was going to be resigned in December. The 3 years was a great signing, agree. I think Whitworth was playing at such a high level the last few games. He had a couple tough holding calls. His last one of the season he was pissed. He was still calling the Ref out.
So maybe I was tagged out, but that from being in a different league.I’m an Old LA Rams fan that stayed with them to Anaheim & St. Louis.
Like the article on him being more of a coach & a mentor. He has brought so much to The Rams organization. Like I keep saying about remembering Jackie Slater. Every season he kept coming back. The Rams draft a LT to take his place in Wayne Gandy.

Report: Coaches pushing for sky judge, league office is skeptical

Personally, I’m sick to death of blatantly missed calls adversely determining the outcome of games. If my team loses because they get outplayed, so be it. Technology has the ability to make things better even if the process isn’t perfect, at least it can be better.

I say the same thing with balls and strikes in baseball. Inconsistency drives me nuts. Use the tech and reduce the human error.

I get that slowing the game sucks. Watching games at the stadium is tedious already with breaks for the sake of commercials only. If they replace those with breaks to get calls right, the impact won’t be so bad.

And if Jared Goff’s hand goes forward and so does the football, and it’s reviewed and upheld as a fumble...that official in the “sky” is held accountable and loses his f’ing job.

All I care about is the truth. We wait months for football return. We can wait a few minutes to get it right.
If the ref Union would allow it's members to be held accountable, they already would be. The sky ref will be as immune to punishment as the rest of them. They grade their own tests. It's hard not to always pass in a system like that.

Tom Brady speculation thread (to Bucs)

Max Kellerman Believes This Quarterback Could Be Replacement For Tom Brady

Fans of the New England Patriots are awaiting the replacement of Tom Brady with the star quarterback reportedly on his way to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Names like Cincinnati Bengals’ Andy Dalton and Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton have been floated around to take over for the Patriots in 2020 possibly. ESPN’s Max Kellerman has a different preference, however, when it comes to a possible replacement for Brady. “I wonder if (Matthew) Stafford’s available still,” Kellerman said on “Get Up!” on Thursday. “Because Detroit won three games. People can say whatever they want about, ‘well Detroit really wants to win this year.’ They always seem to want to win. Stafford has elite talent but has underachieved compared to his elite talent, at least in terms of playoff success. And he is the most talented guy who could maybe be available.”

If Stafford does happen to be on the trading block for the Detroit Lions in hopes of going somewhere he could win, Bill Belichick more than likely has Lions coach and former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia on speed dial to make it happen.
The Patriots will find a QB in the draft who is careful with the ball, but who has enough arm for 3rd down conversion. They don't require a top prospect because Belichick will ensure he's got a good OL, a RB who can catch, and a balanced approach where it's not all on the QB while he grows into the job. They'll probably make the fucking playoffs with a rookie QB those bastards.

Saw this the other day and it's an interesting read, directive by Belichick in what they're looking for in the draft way back when. Note the QB summary on page 2...

So, which Ram position groups look better/worse than those that finished ‘19?

remember this is 2020 starters vs 2019 finishers. also should be some holes filled in the draft but as of right now this is imo on where we are now.
coaching staff = no way to know now.
qb = no bortals slight down grade
ol = whitworth year older. havenstien a? offset youngens experience gain. about same
wr = no change at least till draft
rb = no gurley down grade.
dl = with brockers back a definite upgrade.
lb = definite down grade at least till draft.
db = jj back should offset coleman being gone. about the same
so that makes I no way to know.
3 about same at least till draft
2 down grade
1 definite up grade.
until we got brockers back i just didn't think we had enough draft picks to fill all the holes now i feel way better. just hope getting the big guy back didn't screw up some future plan like signing kupp.

Goff’s Backup(s)?

Seems that the "development" QB role in today's NFL is the one on the PS.
The #2 (on teams with a true #1) is cheap vet. I agree there is little reason to spend big $$ on back up QB unless you either have doubt in your QB (Rams dont) or have injury concerns (again Rams dont)
And while I agree the season is pretty much lost if the #1 goes down, you still need a QB that is capable of running an NFL offense. A late round draft pick cant automatically take that #2 spot. Either you carry 3 QB (No thanks) or you get the kid on PS
Yep that's how it is now. My point was I think that's going to change. Particularly when you have an astute offensive staff, which I think we do.

Basically I think we could draft a QB McVay likes mid to late rounds, make him the backup on the cheap, and trust in development that way you have a cheap depth option with upside. If you need to use him and he does well, flip him for a pick and do it again. Not all teams have the staff to do that of course but we do.

And btw if we were to draft a development QB other teams like, a guy who has upside to play at this level... Then cutting him is risky since teams can claim him and leaving a player of the most valuable position on your practice squad comes with a ton of risk too.

We'll see maybe I'm off on this but I feel like teams like us (i.e. with good offensive staffs) are missing out on opportunity when they go with vet backups.
