ESPN, NFL to kick off weekly re-airings of classic Monday Night Football games

ESPN, NFL to kick off weekly re-airings of classic Monday Night Football games with Rams-Chiefs from 2018

ESPN today announced it is partnering with the NFL to re-air classic Monday Night Football games over the next five weeks, beginning with 2018's Rams-Chiefs game next Monday at 5 p.m. pacific time.

"These games reflect efforts by ESPN and the NFL to deliver fans some of their favorite sports moments as a small but welcomed distraction in the middle of a difficult and unprecedented time," the network said in a press release.

The 54-51 Los Angeles win marked the highest-scoring game in Monday Night Football history. It also earned a spot on multiple NFL records' lists, including:
  • First game in league history in which both teams scored more than 50 points.
  • Third-most combined points scored in a game.
  • Second-most combined touchdowns scored (14).
Jared Goff became the first quarterback in Rams history to have multiple 400-yard and four-touchdown passing games with his performance. Additionally, linebacker Samson Ebukam scored two defensive touchdowns – one fumble recovery and one interception – en route to earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Rams current depth chart

CB has 2 upcoming free agents in Ramsey and Hill, wont sign both, better draft a replacement for 1 this year.
S has starters, day 3 pick or UDFA makes sense.
ILB needs some more help, OLB, well cant have enough pass rushers, can see 1 of each.
DL has starters and backups for a couple of years, certainly wont pass on one, but can see not drafting one either.
OL Blythe is replaceable at C, seems the Rams have set starters and depth at the other spots. Drafting a C that can start for the next 10 years is entirely possible this year.
RB, dont see drafting one, unless Gurley is moved.
WR, yes take one late to develop, have a roster spot, best WR class in a while, take advantage.
TE, looks like a poor year to draft one, day 3 at best.
QB, well of course Goff is the starter for the next few years, finding a cheap backup is becoming more of a challenge, not a bad idea to draft one day 3.

NFL running backs not only expendable, but they’ve also become dime a dozen.
QBs, Left tackles, edge pass rushers, and cornerbacks carry enormous contracts. Running backs are dispensable parts rolling off an assembly line.

7 Trades/Draft picks to increase 2020 cap space

Three year starter played who started 41 games in those 3 years. That doesn't tell me he missed a lot of games to injuries but ok. And I said he was very injury prone early in his career he just wasn't that way in college. None of his draft profiles mention injury problems either.
Injured in last two years at Indiana that was the knock on him.

Rams on Demand Mock Draft

LOCKED: NEW THREAD STARTED AND STICKY HERE:

Memento's "I Miss Gurley" Mock Draft.

I don't know. It's a little too out there for me. One problem is us trading back with the Jets and then trading up using that pick for Shenault. The Jets aren't going to trade up with us before they know their guy is going to be available, so we wouldn't have the pick to make the trade up. I also am not in love with the idea of trading our veterans to start over with rookies. Yes, I'm okay with trading Woods or Reynolds (although, it makes less sense to trade Woods now), but trading both of them isn't something I love. FWIW, I love Tyler Johnson. Edwards-Helaire, Muti, Foku, Gay, and Shenault are all intriguing picks. Each has flaws I could pick at, but they're high upside players.

One other criticism is we're bringing a lot of guys with troubling character into the locker room. I'm not so keen on that. Thomas and O'Grady both have attitude problems. Gay Jr. is a knucklehead. Personally, I wouldn't pursue O'Grady.

Is this a restructure

How do we invest enough in the o-line to make Goff successful when you're giving him $94M guaranteed? If we DO invest that much in the OL, how do we field a good enough team on defense and at other positions? Seems to me the plan is to supplement the line talent with mid to late round draft picks and hope they develop, versus drafting/paying for top tier OL talent. How is this a viable strategy for the OL to ensure Goff is worth the contract?

Investing doesn't necessarily equate to splurging a prince's ransom to the unit. Just be very mindful of the unit with drafting, FA acquisition and coaching. We gambled on the idea that Kromer can turn ground beef into fillet mignon last offseason; just learn and improve from that.

NBA Suspends Season, Will NFL Suspend Draft?

NFL aiming to virtually involve prospects in 2020 draft

The NFL, like the rest of the world, is in uncharted territory as the current COVID-19 pandemic affects the people around the world.

The 2020 NFL Draft, though, will still go on -- it's just going to take place in a much different format. With social distancing among the most important measures everyone can take in mitigating the spread of COVID-19, the league can't hold the draft as a traditional public gathering. For the fans watching from home, the league is working on ways to deliver the best experience for those who support the game, and for the prospects who will be part of the draft for their first and only time.

The NFL will be reaching out to top prospects this week to participate in the draft set for April 23-25, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. In a letter to agents obtained by NFL Media, the league said it is working on a virtual solution that will incorporate prospects in the broadcast from their locations. Additionally, current players and NFL legends are also expected to be part of the three-day event, Rapoport added.

Players won't be able to cross the same stage in front of cheering fans and flashbulbs and hug NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, but the league is still attempting to make this a special, once-in-a-lifetime experience for them. What that might entail remains to be seen.
