Game Day Menu

You west coast Sallies crack me up with the morning game reference. Sorry, I never thought 11:00am was morning, even thought, technically, it is, however, I guess it is all dependent on when you start your day. Also I felt game day menu was, what you were having that day, not necessarily during the game, but regardless this is the menu at our venue.

Playing a Texas Team, Beef, it's what for dinner. So a grilled Tomahawk Ribeye with asparagus to give it a little color and some buttered mushrooms.

Yeah, lol. I get it. 10 isn’t early at all.

I don’t eat breakfast until after the yards are mowed and the pool is cleaned.
Which usually puts me around 9am when my chores are done.

Just got done cleaning up after breakfast.
Now it’s time for some Cowboy ass kickin’!

Utah 34, Southern Cal. 32

The longer he stays in school, the more time "flaws" can be discovered.
He's under a microscope like no other
His "issues" this year likely cost him a 2nd Heisman, but it surely doesnt cost him the #1 overall pick, nor should it
But I will say - USC's defense sure does expose his issues. 50 points and that almost wasn't enough.

He also needs to admit to his short comings and know he still has worked to do. Stating that he had one bad game does not show maturity to me. He should have stated that he wasn't ready for the defense that was being thrown at him and needs to make sure that he reviews more film to make sure that type of defense doesn't mess with him in the next game.

Get Henry and Run the ball.

Fair enough. But Williams is quite small, so to say I want someone a bit bigger than him leaves it open to some of those midround backs who are available in most drafts. We're obviously not gonna get a Bettis or Gurley in midrounds but I figured we all know that so no need to caveat everything.

Also guys who can bust a big gainer here and there aren't always 40 time all stars. Sometimes they just have good initial quickness and get dinged by their lack of long speed, and one of those is fine too if he checks enough of the other boxes. But they need to do better with their RB selections. Need to go back and look at what they're prioritizing and make adjustments and I'll bet they've done that or are doing that.

Beauty of RBs are that in any given round they probably have equal or better quality than most of the clumps of players on the board because of that devaluation. So it's a good position to draft and should be drafted every year. Some backs have special traits like an ability to get skinny through traffic that most cannot, or slippery in avoiding tackles, or that squirrely nature to get extra yards, shit like that, so there's no one ruleset we can use here but the key is identifying guys McVay will actually put on the field and use.

I agree with you. Despite my snarky tone, I would have no problem with the Rams spending their first 1st rounder in the McVay era on a legit stud at RB. And I like Williams.

Rams = badass running backs and young QBs need badass RBs... and I expect us to be building around one of those in the next few years, so I really wouldn't be upset.

Thailand Cave Rescue

I hate to bring this thread up from the dead, I really do...but one of the boys (the captain of the football team, known primarily as Dom) who was saved just committed suicide. He wasn't known to mental health services, so whatever happened, he was carrying it with him for a very long time, and never talked to anyone about it.

It just breaks my heart to hear it. Guys, don't be afraid to talk to people when you need help. I know it's especially hard for a man to do - it's been hard for me to talk to therapists myself because of past experiences, and I'm a girl - but please, there are people who love you, people who care about your wellbeing, people who want to help you as much as they can.

So don't hesitate to talk to a therapist, a counselor, someone who can help you if you need help.

20 Random Terrible Awful Week Thoughts

So far they are exceeding my expectations. I still feel like their ceiling is 7 or 8 wins. But I also feared their floor would be 4 or 5 wins. I think they are closer to their ceiling than their floor. 5 games against middling or less teams. Chances are we won't win all 5. 5 games against better teams. Chances are we wont' lose all 5. I expect us to be 4-6 or 5-5 the rest of the way.

Raheem Morris discussion thread

All I can say is, Raheem Morris deserves some credit. The defense just does not have a lot of talent. Potential, yes. Right now though they have not reached that potential. Its a credit to Raheem that this defense is not giving up 30 or more points every game. I know its frustrating when they give up final possession TD's before the half. Or when they can't stop a mediocre offense in the 4th quarter. But what can you expect with the inexperience and lack of talent?
