I understand all of that. And what you suggest is probably what the Rams will wind up doing.

But what I'm saying is the salary cap hit isn't that much different if he's on the team or dealt in 2024. And, IMO, the selection of Bowers gives them a weapon that could offset Kupp and move a huge contract of a soon to be 31-year-old player who has missed games the past couple seasons. The compensation received could be used for younger cheaper talent and the freed-up cap space in 2025 and beyond could still provide room for free agent signing(s) even in 2024. ie. a 2024 deal with a large roster bonus in 2025.

Just something to consider when your QB has about a $50 million cap number next year and beyond. Sure, the Rams could just kick the can down the road some more. But finding Puka has given the team some options.

I think they only signed him for just the remainder of the year is to gauge his lockerroom presence and coachability. Also, I think Carson only wanted it that way. I'd be surprised if he didn't sign a one year deal next year. A lot will depend upon whether he plays or not and how well he does. One thing is for certain he has the arm to make every throw in McVay's offense. Sean won't have to change a thing.

If he has to play, he gives the Rams a legit chance to win in any of the remaining games. Hell, he may try to sell himself to the Niners next year. He's got to be better than Purdy who has hit a wall. The DCs now have a book on him. Pressure him and deny him easy throws in that 5 to 15 yard area. Beyond that, his accuracy and velocity fall off after 20 yards. He is what he is. A decent backup.

There is no question the Niners will be in the market next year for a QB. If Wentz has to play and plays well they will look long and hard at him to solve their problem and weaken the Rams. That's why I would rather he didn't play this year. If he doesn't play this year I think he would be inclined to sign a one year deal as a backup.

Seeing the Rams kick the shit outta of the Seahawks. Losing sucks. WIN!

I think they know where the Rams need to improve: OL, Edge, CB, these are the positions the Rams should look at with their 1st pick and take the best one available at one of those. Of course, some of this will depend on what happens during free agency.

We can only hope that this little taste of a good McSnead draft has them salivating at the thought of actual 1st and 2nd round picks.
No trades for quick fixes, keep them and jealously hoard them.
I prefer year in and year out success vs roller coaster, short term all or nothing bullshit.

Regardless of how Wentz plays if he plays. This season is the result of McVays lack off attention and being just flat complacent at PK and QB2. The week that they lost Stetson they should have signed Wentz. McVay should have drafted a PK. Why didn't he? Because he got complacent a very clear sign of burnout. He signed a PK who was cut because he was a choker. Those two instances of a lack of attention by McVay is the difference in this season. They would be 5-4 everything else being equal, with a realistic chance of finishing 10-7 and in the playoffs as the division champ or top wildcard.

Those losses point directly back at McVay and his career burnout. The very first thing to suffer is attention to detail, something Sean never lacked for. Say what you will about players this season is on Sean and his inability to focus.

My personal opinion is Sean is done. Kroenke should kick him upstairs and hire DeBoer. Better a season early than a season late.

The low number is a little miss-leading.
Stafford, Havenstein and Jones were all injured and did not play on Sunday.
Similarly, Higbee and Fuller were injured and did not play in the Super Bowl.
Henderson did not start in the Super Bowl; and Reeder did not start on Sunday.

Again, as I posted right above, just trying to point-out that the 2021 Rams' Team has Left-the-Building.

I'm talking from the Rams point of view. We invested in Stafford so double down on him by adding a top lineman but also hedge that bet by trying to hit on a QB.

My favorite was the refs REVERSING Tutu’s TD when the camera angles actually proved he stayed in.

We still made stupid mistakes and with Burrows basically being an injured QB statue (taking away a key plus for him in scramble ability), we should have won that by 21 points.

I agree with those that feel if Stafford is healthy after the bye this team can make a run to get a wildcard. Seattle got pummeled in their game. The Niners lost as well.

If it wasn't for a horrendous PK and a cheating ref this team would be tied for first place in the NFCW. This team can make a run with Stafford and McVay knows that. I expect them to try to get Tomlinson coached up to start opposite Witherspoon coming out of the bye.
