UCLA 38, Southern Cal. 20

No one believed me when I said a long time ago that Williams can't read beyond 2 so take away his first two reads and he's lost. I said it before and I say it again, the USC offense is very simplistic which is another reason they get beat. It raises legit questions is it because of Caleb (i.e. Kyler Murrayish) or Riley and his OC. Yeah it's going to hurt Williams and Maye and Nix will probably go before Williams.

The bottom line is that Riley didn't do Williams any favors.
I was saying the same thing about Caleb not being able to read defenses after the first game that I saw Caleb as the USC QB.

However, I also say he has similar athletic abilities to Mahomes and Murray (but taller than Murray). He has a great arm and is extremely accurate.

I think he will be a very good QB in the pros if (and i do stress this if) he takes the time to read films of defenses.

Murray's entire problem is that he plays games instead of film study. I haven't read anything about Caleb and games but I do think he probably parties too much because I swear he doesn't watch enought game film. I could be entirely wrong about that but for him to take forever to read a defense seems to me to be not watching enough film of games or not being able to see what he should see in the film.

At this time he could be one of the greatest QBs in the pros or he could be a huge bust.

His floor and ceiling are that far apart.

Still 7 games to be played, but here are my thoughts to fix things…

I would prefer not drafting a quarterback just yet. I think Stafford will finish out his contract and play through 2026. He'll be at the age where quarterbacks start thinking retirement. But I would also prefer a legit vet backup. Not these guys that almost guarantee a loss if they have to play. We knew Mayfield would be wanting a starting job somewhere. But perhaps Wentz would be open to sticking around and trying to resurrect his career. He'd be better than anyone McVay has ever had for backup.

I'd prefer a left tackle if there is a chance the guy could be one of those cornerstone tackles you can plug in there for the next ten years. But boy, a guy like Brock Bowers would sure be tempting. He might be that playmaking favorite target like Kelce is in KC. Marvin Harrison Jr. will be gone by the time we pick.

If they think an edge rusher is the instant impact type guy, then maybe go that route. Whatever the case I think they need to upgrade the offensive line and edge rusher position. And some vet guys in the secondary with the cap money they have available.

Upgrade the offensive line and edge rushers. Get more experience and better quality in the secondary. Add a legit playmaker. That would make them legit playoff contenders. And maybe a little more upgrades the following season they could be legit Superbowl contenders in 2025.
On other threads I've talked about going pretty extreme in extending the top guys to open up salary cap room.
The flip side to that is that I would want to bring in another heavy draft class. I'm thinking a trade back in the first to start things off, with a couple other trade-downs, I'm sure.
Unless there's a guy who's a difference maker at a position they need, I'm going with the trade back.
I'm then probably drafting the top LT prospect or Corner with my first pick.. the second pick would be whichever position I didn't take.
Then I'd go RB.
After that.. many different directions to go and so much will depend on FA and who's available at that point in the draft.

Definitely want a vet backup QB.. but will leave open possibility Bennett returns and can handle the job. That would save big $$.

NFL Thanksgiving Games: History, traditions and best moments

Well, as much as I was anti-Cowboy in the 70's Thanksgiving Day November 28th Washington vs Dallas and the Redskins (yes I posted Redskins) wanted to knock out Roger Staubach because all Dallas had behind him was Clint Longley.

I told everyone at age 8 then, when they indeed knocked Staubach out of the game, "Watch out for Clint Longley." Not sure why I said it, just liked his name and again uttered: "Longley can throw the Long ball." Again, I had no idea who he was, never saw him play, it was just something to say, in front of about 35 Italian relatives.

Longley goes out and throws for 203 yards and two td's in less then a half and boom I was now the chosen one.

GAME DAY SNF - Vikings at Broncos

It's simply unbelievable the refs didn't throw a flag for that hit.

I once saw a ravens Lineman brush the golden boys helmet with his pinky finger and the ref the threw flag. On 3rd down after an incompletion. No wonder he's the most hated qb in nfl history.

Game Day Menu: Share your vittles!

I am hooked on these in-husk tamales from my local grocery store. I have been eating the beef ones, but bought pork to try this time. I will top them with a red enchilada sauce.

Pico and chips as appetizer.
Maggie made beef (birria de res) and chicken (marinated pollo) tamales with homemade masa. Took all day on Saturday while I watched college FB. She served it with Spanish rice and pico de gallo on the side.

Saturday she made birria de res tacos with homemade guac and Mexican rice with lime and cilantro on the side.

Monday I'm making pasta with chicken and cheese sauce with homemade crusty rolls and a green salad with homemade apple cider vinaigrette,

We only eat Mexican maybe 3 times a week at most. But when we eat at home we make the meals from scratch.

GAME DAY The Early Games - Week 11

.

these guys are depressed.

no, it's not burlenson, it's former bears coaches and players contemplating about what they just saw in the last 3 minutes of the game.

this was me after the stealers game. and would have been me after today's game if mcvay's gaffe had allowed the seafucks to win the game by giving them more time than they deserved to drive the field and get the winning fg.

Bills fire O.C Dorsey after loss to Broncos

Goff's development in Detroit has been far greater than he had under McVay. Goff has taken his game to the next level, i.e. he's considered a top 5 QB by many.

You call sabotaging Goff's ability to read defenses by holding him in the huddle until it was too late for him to do anything but run the play. Then have your HC calling you out for needing to play better great development? Even I said when Goff was here if McVay would build his offense around Goff's skillset he could be a perennial top QB. But McVay did exactly the opposite.

Now Stafford is clearly in decline and Goff's career is ascending. Stafford's career is in decline because he's become injury prone. People denigrate Noteboom for being injury prone but turn a blind eye to Stafford? Raise your hand if you believe that Matt Stafford won't get hurt or have an existing problem like tendonitis in his throwing arm flare up during the final games this year and all of next year. I for one wouldn't take that bet.

How much you want to bet if McVay stays he will lobby for Wentz to take Stafford's spot starting in 2025. Hell even Carson suspects it. Wentz made it very clear this year he wants to sign with a team that offers starting potential for him. So now here he is in LA. I for one don't want him as a starter, because he's proven his problem in reality is between his ears.

I only hope that Stafford can finish this season and Carson never sees the field. This will allow Snead to go on with his plan and draft the next QB1. Will that make Sean realize he doesn't want to have to coach up a young QB? It might. But I still think 2025 is his retirement date.
Blah, blah, blah
McVay developed Goff. Ignoring that is just ludicrous.
He took a 1st round bust to the Superbowl 2 years later.
