I really dig 80s music and films and pop culture in general.
For me, the best thing about the 80s was Appetite For Destruction.

I went to get (2) tix for the Police reunion tour in '07 and nearly fainted. It was something like $300. Just a few years ago i took a date to see REO Speedwagon because she was a big fan. REO, a band i liked in the early 80's when they were huge. REO...now an old, casino dwelling decades old rock band filling small venues. $80/tix. GTFO. Of course i submitted because...it was important to my date.

I get why these shows are pricey. I'm ramblin but it's another case of technology and the download culture all but eliminating what was once an affordable concert going culture for young people and adults.

I almost shit when I saw the prices on that Police reunion tour too. Then... I quickly pulled out my credit card and bought two very good seats. It was worth every penny to me... and I also had to drive to Tampon/St Pete to attend.

It takes a lot for me to want to go to a concert now that I'm older. I'm just not into it like I used to be back in the day. I had a friend of mine offer me 2 free tickets to The Stones fairly recently... and those fuckers were way more money than the Police tickets. I passed on the tickets... I did regret that one a little after the fact.

Seeing the Police reunited was something I got very excited about though. It was an amazing concert. Sting's son was one of the opening bands.


Cool that you saved the ticket stubs. I used to always buy the concert shirts when I went back in those days... usually the 3/4 sleeved ones. I've got a picture that my Grandfather took of me fishing when I was still a teen that I really like... I am wearing my "Foreiner 4" 3/4 sleeve concert shirt in it. Wish I would have saved some of those shirts now.

Metal - I'm not overly fond of that type of music and RAP - don't get me started on that - ugh. Yes I am a cranky old man who hates the music kids listen to these days. I still listen to 70s and 80s music.

A few of my close friends and I love to sing Coppacabana when we get together and have had enough to drink. Not in public settings mind you... lol. Good stuff.

I saw ZZ Top during their Eliminator tour at Mountain Air concert in Angels Camp. Missing Persons and Knight Rider opened for them. That was one crazy concert. Hot as hell. They sold these spray bottles with their logo so we can cool ourselves off. I was walking down a grassy hill with a beer in each and and the spray bottle hanging on my belt.

This guys comes up behind me, snatches the bottle and runs through the crowd. Being on a slope I couldn't set my beers down. I had two 4 dollar beers in my hands and he was running off with my 4 dollar bottle. It was an easy choice not to chase him. All I could do is yell "ASSHOLE!"

I posted earlier about the 1984 Mountain Aire concert in Calaveras county. Yes, everyone sprayed each other as you passed them. We just trusted each other that it wasn't urine...

Lol, some of the gals had a brilliant idea to stay cool. They walked around with a T-shirt and no bra. Guys would always keep them wet. This one guy walked up to this hot girl and dumped two cups of water on her boobs. All she did was smile.

By the way, you didn't happen to see some short asshole with a beard running through the crowd with a spray bottle did you? That little guy was fast.

Naw man, that was 36 years ago for me. If the little dude was there, I didn't see him....or, we avoided each other somehow or my memory is for shyte!

I do remember how freakin' hot it was!
