Something’s gotta give this year as Rams make those final 5 cuts.

Keeping Perkins as 3rd QB will result in the sacrifice of a WR, CB, S, DL, Edge, or maybe a RB. It’s inevitable.

Rams simply have too many quality depth players that are well known around the league, especially by some former Ram coaches.

I recommend that they bite the bullet and trade/release both Perkins and Harris and thereby keep 2 more promising youngsters. Youngsters that just might be major contributors if not starters in the near future.

Champagne problems to have such a loaded roster, huh? Doesn’t make those last few final cuts any easier, though.

I never cared about expanding the roster.....I am sure in favor of it now!!
Nice to have a team that has to make tough cuts.

Stingley is a talent. Yes he's a rook and learning but it's not like McClutch is winning there vs some shit CB5.

Yea I hope people realize that was versus the #3 pick in the draft. I’ve been trying to temper expectations but that one got me excited. The kid makes plays and is just a rookie so he should keep improving. His route running should get better being around Kupp and ARob.

Yeah, I would like to keep him but it just isn't going to happen. I hope we can store him on the practice squad for a year because he's shown some nice stuff in limited work but not sure that'll happen either.

Trammell has looked very good and any other year I think he makes it on the 53 but we just have way too many WRs ahead of him right now. I think we try and stash him on the practice squad but he gets claimed by someone else.

From what I've seen though, I do think he has a future in the NFL. I could see him taking on an Amendola type role somewhere. If he has return ability that would help jump start his career as well.

It's about who can help you win on gameday. A 7th or 8th, or even a WR 6th on the depth chart is unlikely to even be active on gameday. Rather use that 7th or 8th WR spot on keeping another D lineman like a Jonah Williams for a deeper line rotation

Van Jefferson battled through shoulder and knee injuries and still had a breakout fantasy season last year. We discuss if the third-year wide receiver is worth drafting in 2022 at his ADP after undergoing a second knee surgery this summer.

Van Jefferson had a breakout campaign last season, posting 50 receptions (89 targets) for 802 yards and six touchdowns. The former fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft stepped up for a Los Angeles' offense that lost veteran wide receiver Robert Woods to a season-ending knee injury. Jefferson battled through his own set of injuries (knee, shoulder) last season, but he still managed to play in all 17 regular season games and four postseason games. However, he's undergone two knee procedures this offseason, which undoubtedly has some fantasy owners wondering if Jefferson is a potential breakout sleeper or merely an injury-prone bust.

Van Jefferson Injury Update: How long will Rams' WR be out?​

The 26-year-old wide receiver's knee surgery during the first week of August went "great," according to beat writer Jourdan Rodrigue. She also added "it's realistic to believe" that Jefferson can return by the regular season opener on Sept. 8. As we know, the Rams will not rush Jefferson back to the field until he's fully ready to go. Los Angeles has two good wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson, who can hold down the fort until Jefferson returns. We also have to factor in TE Tyler Higbee, who quietly had a nice 2021 season with 61 receptions (85 targets) for 560 yards and five touchdowns.

However, when Jefferson is ready to go, he'll be the Rams' vertical deep threat this season. Last season, we saw the young wide receiver thrive in that role with a 16.0 yards per catch. Jefferson had 12 big plays of 20-plus yards, six big plays of 30-plus yards, and four big plays of 50-plus yards. The only three other receivers ahead of Jefferson in big plays of 50-plus yards were Deebo Samuel, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tyler Lockett. If he can regain his form from last season, Jefferson will be a solid, though inconsistent, WR3/flex option.

Lance McCutcheon is enjoying a breakout summer with the Los Angeles Rams. The undrafted rookie out of Montana State has been the team’s leading receiver in each of the first two preseason games, making a strong case for a spot on the 53-man roster spot.

In Week 1 of the preseason, he caught five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, following that up with five catches for 96 yards in the second preseason game. In total, he has 10 catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s tied for eighth in the NFL this preseason with 10 receptions, but he leads the league with 183 yards and is tied for first in touchdown catches. His 183 yards are 32 more than any other player, with Khalil Shakir ranking second (151 yards). He’s one of 22 players with at least 100 yards receiving this preseason.

Peter Schrager of “Good Morning Football” ranked rookie wide receivers who are on the rise this preseason, and at the top of his list was McCutcheon. Schrager notes that he thinks McCutcheon “has a legitimate shot” to make the Rams’ 53-man roster after his impressive performance in the preseason so far.

McCutcheon still has work to do and he isn’t yet assured of a roster spot, but if he continues to play well in the finale against the Bengals, the Rams will have a really hard time not keeping him on the team.

McCutcheon's contested catch ability, or at least the ability he's shown in preseason, could be something that pushes him into more snaps.
He may not be able to stretch the field as well as Van, but Van has not shown much ability to make contested catches and, in fact, was kind of watching when Stafford threw some up for grabs and let the Das get the int. I wonder if McCutcheon doesn't make a catch or at least fight for the ball.
That catch radius is also a big deal in 3rd down situations.. even if covered, he can fight for the ball.

I guess we'll see.

As much press as he is getting, there is no way he makes it to the PS. He’s got to be a lock and I wouldn’t expect to see him play in the game this week.
