Ok….but why 2026?

Did one of us not have picks in the round we wanted to swap, over the next 2 drafts?
Cause that's how little they valued him.

A pick is less valuable the further away it is in years. Generally speaking, it's worth one round less every year out. So if it's a swap of their 6th for our 7th it's really a sway of their 8th for our 9th... well.... you get the drift!

Vikings knew he would be released likely by Friday and took advantage. They need Akers but we’re willing to wait for the release of him.

This blows. If Akers works out for Minnesota he’s well worth more than a 6-7 round pick. Technically it sounds like the Rams are swapping Akers and a 7th to get a sixth.

So, if Akers plays well and hits free agency, then he could get the Vikings a 2024 6th round comp. Which is more value than what they traded to get him.

I guess it gets some money off the books?

Pretty much Couldn’t have been a better time to be trading a starting RB than it is/was now
And this is the best deal they could get for Akers.
Not sure if it’s necessarily a reflection on Akers or the RB position in general.
Or both

I'm really really hoping this makes him a RB1 up there. Alexander Mattison has been doodoo and I need them fantasy points.
That's some hopeful wishing. I argued with some earlier that Mattison was a JAG, but I'll state the same about Cam. I will add he's just a slightly better JAG than Mattison, but I get where you're coming from fantasy wise lol

Akers won't do anything in Minnesota. He's nothing special.

Not much of a return. I was hoping we would trade him for a cup of coffee, but instead all we got was the DIFFERENCE between a small coffee and medium coffee, three years down the road. Much ado about next-to-nothing. Still, we got SOMETHING, so a win for the Rams.

If it's conditional the 6th rounder may turn into a 5th rounder.

Mcvay said Akers played his last down for the Rams. I'm surprised anyone traded for him at all. I'm not sure why Mcvay is always hell bent on destroying trade value on players he wants off the team.

We moved up a round for a previously injured, presently underperforming and likely often unhappy player.
Not sure what anyone could get for a player of this nature.

Moving On.
