With each day closer to the draft, the Rams are crushing my hopes of ever getting a RB1 but instead are stuck with average RBs like Kyren, an unknown in Corum and the new Troy Reeder of the team, Ronnie Rivers.

Sigh.

RBs are very injury prone simply due to the physical beating they take every week. You need 3 good RBs in today's NFL. Because at some point, your starter and/or backup will get hurt. And if you have nobody at RB3, what happens then? You're one injury away from disaster. We kind of saw that this year when Corum went down. We were left with an injury prone Kyren as the only horse. I don't mind Rivers in the role of RB3. But I'd prefer an upgrade. With this signing the Rams might well be thinking differently.

EDIT - Not sure what Darryl Henderson is up to these days or if he is washed , but I'd prefer him to Rivers if he is still playing at the same level he was the last time he suited up in horns.

I don't think this signing negates them taking a RB in the draft. Prob not a RB1 as you say though.

The most likely scenario before this resigning and even now is they take one day 3. We need four and it's pretty apparent that a day 3 this year will most likely be superior to the depth guys we have beyond Rivers.

A RB day 1 is probably less than 1 in 20 chance, day 2 prob 1 in 10 but after that it definitely seems like a very real possibility.

Not sure why re-signing a young RB, experienced with the Rams' offense to a (likely) veteran minimum is a negative to some when the Rams only have three backs on their roster; and one of them (Schrader) has even less experience than Rivers.

He's not assured the #3 RB role; and is not even a certainty to make the 53-man roster.

Exactly I love our RB's 1-4, I know we don't have a lot of speed at the position but Kyren & Corum both know how to find the end zone

Is the reason why you need three mediocre RB' is because they are subpar? I think Rams fans have an aversion to the bell cow back because of Todd Gurley, who we took a risk on as an injury plagued starter out of Georgia

Remember the abuse SJAX took for all of those years and refused to come out of games? Come on Snead, go against the trend of throwaway backs

Just because Rams signed the Little River Band, does not mean they are not going to draft the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

I like Rivers. Solid depth guy.
As an overall RB room I’m still not excited about Kyren Blake and Rivers.

I feel like defenses respect the Rams’ run game but none of our backs as individuals scare anybody.

Kyren is mediocre? oooophf.

I still think Cody Schrader takes running back #3, but Rivers is a solid signing for the vet minimum.

Just a reminder... our running game is a HUGE upgrade from our Lombardi-winning team in 2021.

Here's our shitty RB stat line from the Super Bowl, where Matthew Stafford (3 carries for 6 yards) had a better average per carry than all 3 of our running backs(!!):
Rams

Los Angeles Rushing

CARYDSAVGTDLONG
13211.608
177.007
471.805
362.007
221.003
23431.908

And the NFC Champ game stats were way below average also. The leading rusher was Cam with a pedestrian 13 rush for 48 yards, and Sony went nowhere with 10 rush for only 16 yards.

NFL is still primarily a passing league, and McVay is a genius in the pass game. Our run game with Kyren is a legitimate threat that defenses are forced to respect.

Yeah we'd all wish Kyren had another gear, but he still provides more than enough juice to make this a dangerous well-balanced attack.

We already won a SB with a shitty run game, so we can definitely win it with a productive one.

Eh. I feel he could be upgraded but we're stuck with safe. Not a bad signing I guess but not great either
