I can't speak to the other 2, but to my eye Lampkin is a "boom or bust" type guy. He's only 5'11" (at most) and 280 pounds. That lack of size is unheard of. There isn't a single OL in the entire NFL who is that short. Not even close.

(Lampkin might be saved by his freakishly long spider-monkey arms, however).

So to me, his preseason tape will tell the tale. If he is even mediocre, then his size limitations mean he's a bust. But if his play resembles the stud we saw in college and at the Senior Bowl, then other teams will want him, too.

But yeah-- I agree in general with your observation that all other 31 teams passed on him multiple times. He's an outlier for sure.

You called it! Those "spider monkey" make him play like he`s much bigger than he is.

I'm curious on why people think Lampkin, Dolac, Wedig would be stolen off the PS when the entire league just had multiple chances to draft those guys but passed on them?
Three reasons I can think of;
The Rams have had a lot of success with UDFAs because of superior scouting and superior balls signing these guys.
Now other teams are seeing the same type of tape on these guys in the preseason.
The Rams are deeper and are an upper echelon team. Even our cuts can make some other teams 53 or PS.

Lampkin needs to make this roster as a primary backup with pro bowl starter potential. He's that good.
He keeps making the leap I'll give him that.
From a smaller school at Coastal Carolina to UNC.
Would it be cool if we could get another freak of nature like we did with Aaron Donald.
Undersized, but a small package of dynamite. :)

They're not allowed to look at the preseason tape against second and third string pros? :)
At this point, Teams are more concerned with reviewing their own pre-season tape and player evaluations. We go thru this every year, folks are always enamored with our own guys. Every team has 90 guys cutting down to 53, and they all have those tough cuts. The idea that a team is going to give a spot on the 53 man to a guy they havent even had in camp is silly

Chosen an undrafted rookie from another team in place of someone on their 53 at the cutdown? I'd be surprised if they have
I don't remember it right after camp. They have in season of course but yeah not sure they have during cuts.

This is only the 3rd year of the straight to 53 from 90, it doesnt appear any such move was made in '23 or '24.

Well in order for a team to claim him will be on the 53 ??? At least that’s my understanding.

The crazy thing I saw last season was,it’s not only The Rams who have tough cuts to make.

I get there are certain players and positions all teams need. The Rams when making CUTS put predictably into who might get claimed of waivers.

I’m one whom enjoys the Preseason.Every season a player comes out of nowhere.I like to sometimes think I am know it All.
Truth is players improve & players surprise. When the lights go on is when you can get a better feel for them.

I’ll go to training camp & see a player & then the next week go again & see something totally different.

If you ask me my feelings now, even seeing how good Lampkins played I’d say he doesn’t make the 53.

Now could he make the team & play FB in short yardage?? I wouldn’t bet against it.I do think Mcvay like to use motion to gain an advantage though. SO - I’m a NO across the board on Lampkins & maybe make the practice squad.

Remember Limmer & Dedich are ahead of him & have solid NFL experience after 2024.They did switch off against Dallas for
some FANASTY FANS & pure PFF’rs

If there is an example it would probably be back when we had really shitty rosters. Like under Fish or in the medieval 90s period. Maybe early McVay years but I can't recall it.

How about we just make our own version of the tushpush, he could be the center OR QB? Low center of gravity and powerful as all hell. Not being totally serious by the way.

Why not. 3 yards a play...12 yards every 4 downs... 15 minute TD drives.

Who needs Stafford!

I didn't say anything about the "cutdown" bro.

We have a practice squad all season where a player can't be nabbed off of to put on someone's 53.
Which the Rams have in fact done.
