Flash the Beagle was diagnosed with Lyme disease a few months ago. Got him through the 28 days of daily meds. So far so good.

Not good news, feel awful for you. Take him to his favorite places, spoil him with his favorite treats, and play his favorite game with him.Welp... not good news for my boy..has a massive tumor on his lung and it isnt operable at his age.
My boy is getting the old dog tumors. He's going to be 12 and Kobe's a great dog. Always excited when I come home and loves to play ball. My folks never liked dogs and now I can't live without one.

Good boy! Dogs know what you're saying, study suggests

BERLIN (AP) — Scientists have found evidence to support what many dog owners have long believed: man's best friend really does understand some of what we're saying.
Researchers in Hungary scanned the brains of dogs as they were listening to their trainer speaking to determine which parts of the brain they were using.
They found that dogs processed words with the left hemisphere, while intonation was processed with the right hemisphere — just like humans.
What's more, the dogs only registered that they were being praised if the words and intonation were positive; meaningless words spoken in an encouraging voice, or meaningful words in a neutral tone, didn't have the same effect.
"Dog brains care about both what we say and how we say it," said lead researcher Attila Andics, a neuroscientist at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest. "Praise can work as a reward only if both word meaning and intonation match."
Andics said the findings suggest that the mental ability to process language evolved earlier than previously believed and that what sets humans apart from other species is the invention of words.
"The neural capacities to process words that were thought by many to be uniquely human are actually shared with other species," he said. "This suggests that the big change that made humans able to start using words was not a big change in neural capacity."
While other species probably also have the mental ability to understand language like dogs do, their lack of interest in human speech makes it difficult to test, said Andics.
Dogs, on the other hand, have socialized with humans for thousands of years, meaning they are more attentive to what people say to them and how.
The study was published in the journal Science.
Andics also noted that all of the dogs were awake, unrestrained and happy during the tests. "They participated voluntarily," he said.

That is really cool to hear. Give us some details of what surprises your boy has in store. I'm excited for him.
I remember when my boy was getting way up there in age and having a tough time on most days. I went out of my way to try and spoil him with things he didn't expect... things that I knew he loved. I loved seeing his eyes light up with excitement. Enjoy all the time you can. Those little moments always made me happy... made him and I feel like he was a young pup for a few minutes again.
Wish I could cook a bone-in ribeye for him. Even if he's not supposed to have that lol. Thoughts your way Brudda.

ehh wasnt going to be much. Family and friends with dogs, some burgers etc
But as sad as it is to say, I dont think he is going to make it until his birthday in 2 weeks.
Bawled my eyes out already today. My only hope is he goes naturally and we dont have to make that decision.

The past few days have been rough. He took a turn for the worse and hasnt been eating since Monday, not getting up at all and we were hand feeding him chicken and ground beef and giving him water.
He passed last night in his sleep some time between midnight when my wife checked on him and 2 a.m. when I checked on him.
It is a sad sad day in the Kelsey household. He will be missed !!

I do have dog news, but seems a little less important now. I got a puppy last week to help look after the property in case folks try to hunt my land. The kids think he is for them, and I'll let them think it. Lol

I had won a $50 certificate to a tattoo place at a charity 5k race and just happened to be working about 10 minutes from the place this week. Finished up my siding job and stopped in to get some lettering done to complete Mickeys portrait

Coop last Monday home after getting his nuts cut off.
No whining, growling or whimpering after... just hangin' out with that fucking collar on - a little freaked getting used to it - but caught on pretty quickly.
Took it off Saturday ands he's back to his 9 month old obnoxious 80 lb. puppy self.
With a vengeance. Stored up a lot of energy.
We (as y'all know) can learn a lot from dogs. I have anyway.
