Yeah I'm actually surprised at the responses. I get he's overpaid but by reading this thread you'd think that he was no longer good and that we had good CBs.

Neither are remotely true.
I know pff isn't the end all be all but he was ranked the #8 CB overall grade wise but somehow he sucks....lmao...... nothing wrong with taking a shot there with him. I doubt he'd be on the team longer than a year or 2 which lines up with trying to get another SB with Stafford

Right! Fans being fans. The overall tenor of the sentiments one would think that he's ranked closer to 100th out of 120 instead of 8th. At 8th someone should want him.

The question I'm wrestling with is what would he be worth on the open market? Ward just signed for $18m per year and hasn't played well the last couple of years but he is younger.

Yeah that's definitely the million dollars question......if he gets top dollar, we'll most likely be out of the running although I'm not even sure what we have left cap wise lol

Los Angeles Rams Get: CB Jalen Ramsey
Miami Dolphins Get: 2025 3rd-round pick (No. 101 overall)
Jalen Ramsey could return to the Los Angeles Rams, who need an upgrade at cornerback. The Rams could make a few cuts or restructure deals for cap-space flexibility.
Last year, the Rams brought back Darious Williams, who played with Ramsey between 2019 and 2022. However, he had a lackluster 2024 campaign, recording seven pass breakups and an interception while allowing a 101.7 passer rating.
The Rams signed Ahkello Witherspoon, who's more of a rotational depth defender than a full-time starter. He turned 30 in March and has only played a full season once in eight years because of injuries. A budding talent like Cobie Durant would benefit from having Ramsey around again.
In 2024, Los Angeles' young defense made strides as the season progressed, particularly in the defensive front. However, the unit finished 20th in passing yards allowed and gave up the seventh-most touchdowns through the air.
The Rams' Super Bowl window remains open, with Matthew Stafford locked into a new contract. Ramsey could be back in Los Angeles, helping the club make another successful title run.

You need to stop listening to Jake Ellenbonehead. :p

IMO, Ramsey is going to be 31 this year. That's pretty old for the highest paid CB in the NFL, and he's not the player he once was. I'd pass as he's expensive and who knows that the fins are asking for him.

I loved Ramsey when he played for the Rams because he was physical, but by the time he left the Rams, he wasn't that good at the time. He got toasted in SB 56. The Rams made the right move to move on. IMO

I would be ok picking him up for next to nothing, including a veteran's minimum wage or something close to it.

I think his addition would bring some nastiness and attitude to the secondary. He’s a big corner with great instincts. He lacks the ability to play catch up when he presses in man coverage like he once did but he’d be a great off ball or zone defender and is still the best tackling corner in the league when healthy

I think he will have high level skill at Safety but is long in the tooth for CB.

I can't see trading him for anything more than a 4th unless there is salary relief.

Ramsey still has something in the tank. He'd immediately be better than anything we currently have. But not at that salary. I'd say if he cost the Rams 10 mil then yeah. Whether it be a trade and the Dolphins pay part of the tab. Or he's cut and takes a reasonable deal to come back. But I don't see either scenario happening. So I'd say no. He's no longer worth that 20 plus mil a year.

Here's the thing, he would only cost the Rams $10m in 2025 because Miami would eat all of the pro-rated bonus which is approx. $25m.

And from what I can tell, 2026 would be $18m but a substantial savings if cut.

Rams got out at the right time with Ramsey. Dolphins paid his sorry ass and already regret it. And now there's people who want him back? :dizzy:
Who is out there that is better or even comparable to Ramsey? Do you think anyone in our current secondary is better? Isn't the goal to try to win the Superbowl while we have Stafford? If so, this tells me getting players that are short term, instant impact players is a good route to take.

I think he could extend his career with a move to safety.
He could play either safety position , but with his size and tackling ability
he would excel closer to line of scrimmage.

to my eye he guesses too often trying to make an INT. metrics posted here say he is still a good cover corner. i curious where he ranks on giving up large plays.

Don’t understand any Ram Fan that watch A’ K Witherspoon the last 2 years can see that far less drama.Actually a better 1 on 1 CB va. Bigger WR’s
