They're replaying season 7 leading up to it right now if you want background noise.

Watching it now.. watched parts of season 6 yesterday

HBO always has a free weekend whenever a big series season begins

After weeks of frame-by-frame analysis, here it is: every on-screen death from the first seven seasons of “Game of Thrones,” including who, how, why and where. But be warned, these numbers will undoubtedly rise. After all, “Valar Morghulis” (all men must die)

Excellent start for season 8. Jon, after learning to ride a dragon, then learning his true heritage; Cercei hooking up with the equally evil leader of the Iron Islands, Theo rescuing his sister, and Bran meeting the Kingslayer for the first time since he was pushed out that 3'rd story window. Nice beginning of the end.

So much had to be revealed before the thick of the fight. That weapon Arya is asking of the Baratheon(?) Blacksmith is meant to kill the Night Kings dragon, imo.

It was established tonight that the "Needle" is Valyrian steel, which make Arya the ultimate bad ass assassin vs the whyte walkers, carving a path towards the Night King in the battle. The Night King realizes that the battle is not going the way it always has (IE, he's losing). He jumps on his dragon, and Arya pulls the new weapon and slays the dragon as the Nigh King is riding it. Arya closes in for the kill, and Night King kills her and makes her a Whyte. He send her back with her new blue eyes and kills Danni, Jon, and Sansa....only to be killed by Tyrian with some dragon glass. Tyrian becomes the new leader and conquers his sister, Cersei for the Iron Throne.

There, I've saved you several hours of waiting/watching the last season!

Sort of reminds me of a rifle launched grenade -- I have no idea what they would use to propel the dragonglass warhead. Maybe a cup of wildfire of something. . . . A slinky compressed in the back of the barrel probably wouldn't cut it.

Well I've not watched this series, just seen bits and pieces in rabbit hole journeys on YouTube but I'm going to take a leap here and say there will be at least one unsuccessful attempt to kill this guy that looks like it will lead to disaster.

Then..........he gets killed by an unlikely character.

Isn't that how that sitcom Cheers ended?

I will rewatch the episode but I’m pretty sure it was the dagger Arya carries that is Valerian Steel.

What what the weapon Arya requested from the Baratheon blacksmith?

Put together, it reminds me a bit of the short spear that Shaka Zulu developed and used in the old movie of that name. Separate, it looks like a potentially spring loaded device which might shoot a small arrow a foot or two, perhaps with the twist of the handle. I'm looking forward to seeing her use it.
