Oof.

$9 million guaranteed is a lot for a mediocre player.
$6M a year for Shelton versus $9M a year for Ryan Kelley. Not sure wtf we're thinking with this, obviously a chance for a huge upgrade and I think we shit the bed on this one. The Vikings sure didn't hesitate to add him and I think he would have perfect for this line. Former Pro Bowler, excellent line caller, scratching my head on this one.

Consider this.

Ryan Kelly is about to be 32 and hasn't played a full season in two years.

Coleman Shelton is about to be 30 and hasn't missed a game in two years.
There is also familiarity with Stafford and the team and his experience / ability to fill in at both guards spots in a pinch.

Quite possibly the worst signing ever by Snead. I can’t even imagine a scenario where this makes sense. Better centers signed for less than him (much less). Way better centers signed for only a small amount more. This is a horrible signing. I can’t even imagine spinning this any other way.
Ehh - I think Tavon' signing was much worse.

But this definitely is not a good one.

And I consider the worst signing to be Reeder in 2023 and 2024. Just having Reeder on the team made it horrible.

Is it possible that the Rams think Shelton will play better between Avila and Dotson than he did between the Bears awful guards?
The Rams aren't looking at his stint with the Bears since he's already played with us in our system. He's a known commodity.

I mean, that offensive line in 2023 was insane by the end of the year. Not much they couldn't do.

And there was a world where the Rams wanted to resign Shelton but he was gonna be too expensive.

I hope Limmer can ascend and keep the spot, barring that, I hope that Shelton can give us what he gave us in 2023 (I suspect his line communication and savvy were the X factor then).

What centers signed for way less?

statistically he was a better center than Limmer last season. I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that he's a depth signing right now.
Statistically he played better than Limmer and Limmer was surrounded by two good guards, while Coleman had two guys that the Bears already replaced.

And you don't think it's possible he also was part of the problem? Afterall they were all three replaced.

That’s completely irrelevant to my point.

Shelton played better than Limmer despite being surrounded by lesser talent.
Lol guess you'll say and think anything to back your guy. Disregard the above post.
