It would be much more believable for Stafford to have asked for a more vet presence at center but I just can't see him being specific about which player Stafford specifically wants. Snead may have figured we only have a finite amount of time with Staff as our QB and wanted someone where that process is fast tracked hence the Shelton signing. If Stafford or m gay or Wendell and Lunch am think this is the right move then I'm all for it. I know the coaches aren't always right but making the line calls correctly and having cohesiveness is important. Apparently, Shelton is better at the things that aren't always apparent as a fan.

I thought the line was much better in the screen game in 2023 than in 2024. So, maybe that's an indication of better leadership from Shelton?

The things we cannot see matter to the coaches and Stafford.

I thought the line played better in 2023. Apparently Shelton has a lot to do with that.

Maybe he can mentor Limmer. I’ll admit that I was happy to see the Rams move on from Shelton and try to move a physically gifted player to that position.

If he makes the offense work more smoothly then I’m all for it. If he doesn’t they always have Limmer to fall back on.

If they go that route, they definitely aren't feeling any of the players falling to that #26 spot. I more so lean towards Revel because our secondary needs more depth plus he's got elite size with elite speed and length which we have none of in the secondary. Banks I don't see falling but if he did, I would imagine the Rams being enticed big time. If many of them fall, OTs that is, would you want to go after a Simmons or Banks or would you be more inclined to trade back? Fuck I wish we had our 2nd rounder lol

That Fuck-up on-3rd-and-3 was not a minor thing that happens sometimes.
The Rams center and right guard allowed the Best Player on the Eagles' Defense a free run for a sack on the play that could have allowed the Rams to host an NFC Championship Game.

It was a HUGE fucking deal. I mean, Off-the-Charts. THAT mistake, at that time, can NOT happen.

Kevin Dotson was the Rams' best O-Lineman last season. Dotson has the 2nd highest cap hit in 2025.
The Rams were Not going to replace Kevin Dotson in 2025.

Limmer is a 6th Round pick, entering his 2nd season. Center is a challenging position for a young player.
If he improves, Limmer will eventually start again ... and could end-up being the long-term starting center.

However, the Rams' Brain Trust determined that they MUST HAVE a viable veteran option at center.
It's OK to challenge the decision to bring back Shelton instead of another veteran, but perhaps (my guess) they (including Stafford) have a level of comfort and confidence with Shelton who was with them for years.

I like Revel quite a lot. He’s my favorite CB at 26. Simmons is my top OT. Trade back is cool too though.
Whomever they pick though - I’m pretty excited to get into camp and in the team. It’s nice fully trusting the FO.

Agree. Dotson fucked-up too ... But, as I said above, Kevin Dotson was the Rams' best OL in 2024; and carries the 2nd-highest salary-cap-hit (active players) in 2025. Dotson's starting RG role to open 2025 is safe.

we've had this discussion many times.

Yeah, I know ... and I really was not directing my post towards you because we have each shared our opinions; and, while we don't entirely agree, I respect your thought process. Furthermore, and more importantly, you do some excellent work on the Boobie and Booty threads.

Seriously though, my comment was directed more at posters who think that miss-communication on that play was just 'the kind of stuff that sometimes happens'. It was not.

There were a ton of big plays in that Game (like most games) ... some went for the Rams, and some against ... some were good luck or bounce-of-the-ball ... some bad luck. However, every time McVay and Snead talk about that Game ... THAT"S the Play they talk about. Every time a knowledgeable former NFL coach/player have commented about that Game ... they comment about THAT Play.

Let me say this one other way.
If Limmer or Dotson just ATTEMPT to block Carter on THAT Play ... Coleman Shelton is not signed.
That's my opinion ... and my opinions are correct 17% of the time.

Being confirmed starter in April means jack shit. He will need to hold onto that job through camp, and Limmer is going to be a real challenge for him. So whoever ends up starting will win what should be a competitive process, and hopefully from there we are ready to roll week one instead of seeing the OL play like fucking garbage as per usual early in the season.

Maybe this will be the year the Rams come out of the gate hot.
