McVay would utilize the TE all the time if he had Bowers.

Agreed. If he's the best player on the board, you take him.
IDK @jrry32 not sure I see someone that special & TE scares me, but if he is truly a difference maker then you take him.

Just really upset The Rams resigned Tyler Higbee so soon. He didn’t deserve this pay day.

From what I understood they tried to move up to get Dalton Kincaid this past draft so he must have a plan.

He just couldn't have had so much success with Jordan Reed and forgotten what to do.
That was never verified. Might be true. They wanted to move up which was reported by multiple sources. But only that kid Jake mentioned it was for Kincaid and I just don't think he's earned enough cred to take his word for it.

If you're talking about the Rams having an interest in moving-up for Pitts, he was drafted in 2021.

Thanks for the post/response.
No. I was mentioning them separately. As in, it sounds like he liked Pitts, and last April the rumor was that when they tried to trade up, it was for a skill position. So, maybe McVay is still looking for that game changing piece at tight end.

I dont put weight in to rumors, and it killed me to see Mayer go one pick before the Rams.
What I do see is that Rams havent run 12 since they let Everett and Mundt go. Neither guy has been replaced and I dont think its because they had such elite skills.
I would love to be wrong about this, because Bowers is special and I love an offense which utilizes TE, just dont see this version of McVay changing. Reed was already a stud before McVay

Not sure who Jake is, but I thought I heard about it in a podcast.

He's a baller.

But I'm on the fence a bit with him. This is such a DEEP WR draft class. It sorta reminds me of the 1996 class.

I may be wrong, but if I'm right then Marvin Harrison Jr would be the Keyshawn Johnson and he would be the Terry Glenn of the class.

Meanwhile that class still had Marvin Harrison Sr., Eric Moulds, Amani Toomer, Muhsin Muhammad, Bobby Engram, Terrell Owens, Joe Horn, and well.......Eddie Kennison.

Do you take Nabers with that 1st rounder if you think you can get a pretty good talent later? I don't know.

I gotta disagree, Den. He's a terror. Fast, strong hands, physical blocker, and a nightmare to tackle. Think prime George Kittle.
Guess I just haven't seen enough of him. Nice weapon and maybe would improve the offense instantaneously.

Tight End in the 1st Round feels like a Luxury Pick that the Rams do NOT have the Luxury of taking.

With Higbee almost unmovable; and Davis Allen, plus Hunter Long (if he ever actually plays in a game); plus McVay's reluctance to use two-TE-sets, I just don't see it. And, I don't mean to brag but I am right about this stuff a solid 14%-to-16% of the time.

Just my opinion but I think they HAVE to Draft the Best Player Available; and, the good news is that they may be in the position to select one of the top-three offensive tackles, top-two Edge or top-two cornerbacks.

All impact positions, and all positions of great need in my opinion

Early pick has to be best player available that fits a team need. I just don't see TE being and early pick, maybe one in the later rounds.

The irony of the bolded is that his son, Moose Muhammad (Texas A&M) is in this class.

You’re right that this is an incredibly deep class at wide receiver.

I wonder if the former Rams coach and current head coach Bengals might want Higbee if they decided to move him. Might wind up being like the Allen Robinson trade at the worst.

Either way, I can't help but to think that his reluctance might be lower with a TE who could be just as good or maybe even better of an option than a 3rd WR. And he's just got to see that his 90 plus % 11 personnel packages simply aren't producing the points it used to in the past. An offensive minded head coach noticing that Aaron Donald and "the nobodies" on defense looking just as good or better than his offense? This might just be the wake-up call needed if pride enters the picture like it probably did when they changed QBs.

He's a matchup nightmare. I think he's gonna measure small for a tight end. That'll be his only negative. I would only take him if the good to elite players at more important positions are gone though. Like I'd take Malik Nabers over him.

Well then I have a question for you. If Staff can't figure out how to get the ball to Atwell and his 4.3 speed what is he going to do with this Nabers kid?

To me it looks like Staff has his favorites and throws it to them almost exclusively. Mebbe this explains his lousy completion percentage.....

~ArkyRamsFan~

I had the same thought, initially, but Atwell does get bumped off his routes and occasionally does not win early, which could be part of the reason. Stafford does not lack arm strength. While I want a dominant offensive line and running game, Nambers would definitely be one Stafford would look to.

I don't see the Rams taking a TE for at least 2 years. They just extended Higbee so he feels he can just go thru the motions now. They haven't used Allen or Long.

Their biggest need is QB and with Stafford, Donald and Kupp liiely to retire after 2024 this is the draft to take one. The draft is deep and guys like JJ McCarthy are expected to drop. He would be foolish to come out this year but if he does, Quinn Ewers is an interesting prospect. As a sophomore he lacks the starting experience of some of the others. He also needs work on his mechanics and technique, as he tends to stare down his receivers, as well as work on his full field reads. That said in most drafts Ewers would be a top 10 prospect with elite potential. IMO he's got the arm talent to play in McVay's offense. Players like McCarthy and Ewers (if he comes out like expected) should be fairly easy to trade up to grab if they don't outright drop to them, depending upon where the Rams draft position is. In fact I like Ewers more than McCarthy because IMO he has a higher ceiling.

Don't forget Lamar Jackson was overlooked by everyone except Baltimore. The grabbed him with pick number 32. There is likely to be overlooked talent like that at QB in this draft. As much as I would like Nix or Penix, the Rams will have options to take a pretty good QB in this draft.

BTW Ewers is my #3 choice for QB simply because he is a fit for McVay's offense or even another HC like DeBoer who runs a similar offense. He also has elite potential if developed properly.

It's also why I think the Niners will grab one of these QBs in the first round. They have 12 draft picks next year so they have the ammo to move up if they want.
