Glad to see him making progress, addiction is a lifelong battle. Telling your story is a personal choice, some people never get to a place they are comfortable with sharing and there is nothing wrong with that.

I hope he gets plenty of time and reps and becomes a great asset to the team.

:thumbsup1::thumbsup1:Thumbs up kid. This has been the story of your life. You were never supposed to make the UGA team but you did. You weren’t supposed to be worth a shit if you did. But then you won back to back Nattys. You were not good enough to be drafted in the NFL but then you went in the 4th round. Then you fell down and just about everybody sent out the “told you so”. Now, you have gotten up it seems. And you probably are still not good enough. Keep working. You’re probably going to show everybody another little surprise

It’s pretty crazy that he’ll be turning 27 at the beginning of the season. Not quite a “kid” anymore. But for a backup or 3rd string QB - I guess that doesn’t matter.

Definitely not wasting a late pick on a QB now, so thank goodness for that

The Rams are supposed to have gifted running backs. We are the Rams after all.
Rams quarterbacks are supposed to have big arms, frozen rope deal.
I don't see it with this kid. Strange pick to me.
Hope he gets his life worked out for the best.
Maybe he will surprise me.
[Scene: The Ram's Draft House, cluttered with scouting reports and highlight reels. The team is discussing quarterback prospects.]

Ram's Area Scout Gogoat1: "Back in my day, I could throw a pigskin a quarter mile. It’s all about the arm, folks. If he can’t throw it over them mountains, he’s no quarterback of mine."

Les Snead: (Trying to stay focused) "Right, Gogoat1. But let’s talk about this QB's completion rate and decision-making under pressure."

Gogoat1: (Ignoring the question) "Pressure? You think pressure’s what makes a quarterback? Let me tell you, it’s all in the arm. Watch this."

[Gogoat1, with a look of nostalgic determination, attempts to demonstrate by throwing the football across the room, accidentally crashing into an elaborate trophy case situated at the far end of the room.]

Coach McVay:
(Sighing) "Well, there goes the 1999 Super Bowl trophy... Gogoat1, we appreciate your... passion. But maybe let’s focus on the full picture. Arm strength, yes, but also leadership, accuracy..."

Gogoat1: (Undeterred) "Leadership? Accuracy? You can’t lead or be accurate if you can’t launch it from one end zone to the other on your knees. I’ve seen it. I’ve done it."

Analytics Expert Lee: "According to my analysis, this QB prospect has the highest potential for success based on our metrics."

Gogoat1: "Metrics? You ever see metrics throw a football through a tire swing at 60 yards? I thought not."

Les Snead: (Trying to mediate) "Okay, let’s table the 'tire swing' metric for now. Gogoat1, we value your perspective, but let’s balance it with the data and overall skill set."

[As the team continues its discussion, Gogoat1 imagines a quarterback launching the ball from one end of the field, soaring over the mountains, and landing perfectly in a receiver's hands two counties away.
Gogoat1 stares wistfully at the mountains through the window, football in hand, dreaming of the perfect throw - a frozen rope from a rocket arm.]

Les Snead:
(Glancing at the clock) "Okay, team, focus up. We’re on the clock now. Time to make our decision. Remember, we’re not just drafting for talent; we’re drafting for the future of the Rams."

Well, if he was out for the year from an injury, would us fans deserve to know what the injury is? I think so. Doesn't that help us evaluate the player? Therefore, why not learn what kept Stetson out? What if it was drugs? Would you want to know if a player on your team was on crank?

I agree.
More importantly though, the Rams know.
I'm sure they are doing their due diligence and still wouldnt be surprised if they drafted another QB this year.

Go for him. It's wait-and-see time. He could become a solid backup. He has the drive to succeed but, the arm strength is a big question mark.

But it wasn't and injury. The only people evaluating Bennett is the team staff. They have been informed of his progress the whole time, and they signed Jimmy. That tells me as a fan all I need to know about it. I do not know where you are getting that we deserve private information about someone else's life. Because they are on the team you like, you deserve their personal information. No.

Think you're confusing YOUR right vs the Rams right to know. The Rams have the right to know. You do not. You aren't evaluating anything. You're going to accept the Rams evaluation on every player and like it or not.

It's his personal life and IMO up to him if he wants to share. We don't deserve shit from them but the best they have to offer when they play.

We fans don't deserve to know anything when it comes to players personal lives (outside of arrests and crimes committed) . The kid has a problem of some sort. We deserve to know? If he's gay? If he's got substance abuse issues? If he's kinky? If he's into older women (or younger)? If he's Republican, Democrat or Independent? If he's a bigot? No, we don't need to know any of that stuff. That's all his business. All we need to know is can he play and can he be an asset to the team.
Or a closet 49er fan?
