I don’t know why but I feel like we’re going to run the ball a lot against Seattle. I’m not saying McVay has purposely been throwing more, but it wouldn’t totally shock me if part of the plan is to throw teams off by making them think all the sudden we’re a pass-happy team. Mind you of course that’s what McVay does but he’s one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the game. I think we’ll have an excellent gameplan for the Hawks!

GO RAMS!

With 31 other teams laughing at our 70 drop backs last week, I’m pretty sure we won’t run any less, that’s for sure.

As far as McVay setting up future opponents. The answer is no for me. He’s a humble dude but until he’s humbled he still thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He game planned a passing attack last week and all it did was induce more passing. Quite sure he was trying to defeat the Bucs with that game plan and not the rest of the league. Jmo.

The end goal is to run the ball in McVay's offensive philosophy. But you have to get there first. And as teams have adjusted to stop our running game (to also take away play action....to some extent...) it's easier to attack a defense designed to take away the run w/ the pass. But ultimately he (McVay) wants to get to the 20 -25 carry range as that is when Gurley has always been at his best. How many times have we gone in at halftime and Gurley has only 20-25 yards.....and then he ends up w/ 80 or more for the game. Todd Gurley is a big guy that runs hard. It's much easier to stop him early than later. But unfortunately....we haven't got to that level yet. I don't know if it will be tomorrow, but I have a feeling we just might have one of those "ass-kicking" games......like 2 years ago. When we went into Seattle and everyone was questioning whether we were truly for real...…..that kind of ass-kicking. Came off a loss to the Eagles. Had lost 2 of the 3 games we had played before then. People were asking questions on whether we were really that good. Seattle had already beat us once that year....
Anyone know the score of that week 15 game? Yeah...that kind of ass kicking.

Definitely. There's a LOT of parallels between what's going on now and what was going on last season during our "rut" of games before they brought in CJ and went hard on the ground game. Hope Brown's ready for a lot of action tomorrow night and Gurley might get 20 carries.

It's a huge game so yeah if you gotta use TG more than his 15 touch-count use him.

God I hope your right. Its gonna be a long week and a half if we get embarrassed again. If ever a game needed to be a statement game this is it. The hawks and 9ers can smell blood in the water and are thinking they might actually have a shot at this division this year. We need to smack the fuck out of them and put that shit to rest.

In fact, I think that during the NO game, when hawks were down by double digits, it was said that the only other home loss in so many years, was the 42-7 job, by LA...
Now... Do it again!!

My expectations are very low for this game, I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised but we'll see. A couple things we have going for us, old Petey always gets in his own head against the Rams and tries to get too cute, that almost always works to our advantage. Second is when Russel Wilson has nightmares they're about AD and for good reason, I expect to see him take Russ to the ground a few times tomorrow

The Seadderall defense, the down and distance, the time on the clock, and the score of the game will determine how our running game is utilized.
Definitely. But I wouldn't be upset if we ran the ball three times in a row on our first drive, even if it's a three and out. We need to establish the run and at the very least put defenses on their toes to truly make this offense shine.

You mean like the feeling I had 5 minutes into the SB when I knew we were going to lose? Yeah - I'm getting that feeling again. Our O-Line isn't that good. McVay can try to the run but when the guys up front can't push the defenders off the line and when the D stacks 7 guys on the line it makes it real hard to run - at least the way McVay wants to run (outside the tackles)...

IMO we need to run it in-between the tackles more. Get pass the D's front 7 and we should be able to pick up some huge gains on the ground. Do that and perhaps the D will go back to a more traditional front 7 (4 DL and 3 LB's). Keeping trying to do what we're doing and we'll get beat by the better teams in the league more than not. NE, in the SB, exposed the Rams O once again. It's up to McVay to not only adjust but to have multiple formations\personnel so teams don't know what we're doing before the ball is snapped. These guys aren't dumb - they adjusted. Will we?

Here's what I don't get, why aren't we running off tackle more often? We're talking about a linebacker v an OT. Should be an easy win for the OT.

I feel the same way sometimes. I get what you're saying. Just pound the rock!!!

But I also know that there are things that our coaching staff know that I am not privy to... or just not seeing as quickly. The number of possessions/drives are way too important. I think of it like trying to force a square peg in a round hole.... or..... let's run Tavon straight up the middle on a "power run" 7 times a game just waiting for it to work out.

Maybe forcing our running game would make a difference. It's possible I guess. I just think that defenses and offenses are so smart about knowing what they can and can't do nowadays that the smartest coaches adjust accordingly. It's way more scientific almost... maybe to a fault (that's possible for sure)... but I still see coaches who try and force things that result in their teams sucking it up in the win-loss column. Lots of those kind of coaches are now being fazed out of jobs.

I sure hope we can just run over some of our upcoming opponents like a steamroller... but I don't think that doing that as a general rule is the same as it used to be years ago.

Here's to Gurley racking up 199 yards on the ground in the 1st half tomorrow night though!

I agree...I mean, I was thinking just run the ball EVERY play until they get a 1st down. But that was just my frustration coming into my thought process.

The feeling I get, is we played our last game with 1 hand tied behind our back. I think our game plan included not giving away some of our game plan for the hawks. I also think some of the plan for early in the season is to get our QB more used to dealing with pressure, instead of scheming to protect him.
Last year we came out fast and gave the league time to come up with plans that slowed us down. I think this year the plan is to sprinkle in our adjustments as the season progresses. Test them as we go. Hit our stride later in the season. I also think sometimes a coach can use a game like last sunday to get a team refocused.

I think we do whatever it takes to get ahead. This team was built to play with a lead. Then you can give those extra carries top Todd and let the media wombats explain that come Monday...….
