Glad that Littleton got his money. Even better that we could have a third round compensatory pick for him.

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You never know. True story - on the day the Rams signed Ricky Proehl (prior to the 1998 season) a friend of mine and I were joking that Super Bowl glory was imminent. We revisited that a year and a half later when the Rams won the Super Bowl and Proehl's catch was what got them over the hump in the NFCC.

Cutting Gurley results in a dead cap figure of over $20 million. We lose about $3 million doing that. Let's just say I think Silver is full of shit.

He was a heck of a signing for us a few years ago. Love his attitude. But it makes sense. We can spare a CB.

I could have sworn i saw the dead cap hit for Gurley this season was $12m.

.

If they trade him and the team pays his guaranteed salary.
If they cut him, its the dead cap + 2020 salary. Makes no sense to cut him

Have a look for yourself, the dead cap hit is $12.6m for this year.

Gurley was 5 years removed from his injury and passed all physicals. It was a big contract but Zeke and others got paid/ will get paid the same way.

Same for Cooks. 5 straight 1000 yard seasons. I think he led our team in receiving that year. Look at some other receiver contracts. Watkins at 16 million a year. Landry the same. Tyrell Williams at 11 million. Again if cooks had not have gotten injured he would've yet again had 1000 plus yards.

It's good that you've remained consistent apparently, but to say those deals were bad at the time is biased. They're only bad because both guys ended up having significant injuries.

I will always think they were bad. Gurley’s contract was unprecedented. He was the first runningback to get those numbers and it set up Zeke for his big payday. Zeke doesn’t get that much if Gurley didn’t. That contract was so far out of whack with RB contracts at the time.

Cooks is a one trick pony. Take away his speed and he’s not a great receiver. If it was Hopkins, or maybe Greene in his prime, okay but Cooks is not that type of receiver. He’s more in a support role as a deep threat.

That doesn't count his roster bonus that became guaranteed last year. It simply hasn't been paid yet.

I agree, particularly the Gurley contract. I think Cooks got market value but there is good market value and bad value. Guys like Evans and Adams were getting the same type of deals. Ideally you get a complete WR for the money Cooks got in his deal.

I think it does. Click on the dead cap hit and it will break down all the options.

Gurley was the NFL's best offensive player for two years in a row. He was money. He deserved that contract. He is also a great guy. It's just a shame that he injured his knee in the very first game after signing it. Just horrible luck for him, and us!
