Should we have gone for it right before the half?

No absolutely not. Should have taken three. Monday Morning Quarterbacking? No. Here's why.

You go for the td if you're on the goal line because even if you fail - which you must acknowledge is a potential outcome, you put their offense in a terrible situation with a good chance of getting points anyway with a safety. Even more likely you force a punt and then get excellent field position with a chance to score again AND you've taken time off the clock. So most of the time 4th and goal you go for it.

However, when it's the end of a half and you don't have that back up option of a backed up opposition offense/chance for a safety/chance for great field position it's not worth the risk of it backfiring. Especially when you're getting the ball again to start the second half so you can reinforce those 3 points and the momentum you'd have had going in having scored and being in the lead.

It seemed to me to be more balls than brains as though they were trying to prove to everyone how tough they are and that they are not going 7-9 anymore damn it, when in fact it's lack of smart decision making like this that puts them in bad positions to end up 7-9 consistently with decent talent.
Hell of a post and tells everything how it is with out the fan blinders on. Fisher is arrogant, self serving, and so self absorbed that it's a me me me contest to prove all the pundits wrong. Hence, all his quarky remarks after a game a few years later...

Enough with the GRob holding calls refs.

The hold vs Detriot looked bogus to me.
One vs Arizona was questionable, could have gone either way, and one was a hold.
He is getting called when the runner comes his way and the defended goes to peel away and pursue and he doesn't let go.
Those are the holds I have seen. I have also seen several where he "hooked" a defender and spun them as they were pursuing and was not called.
What concerns me about Grob is his terrible balance and his lunging pass blocking. For a LT he does a lot of turning and chasing DEs who are rushing the passer.

Rams at Lions

Well your book isn't very wise. It's been 2 'months since you've seen Mannion play. The coaches are raving about Goff growing.
Mannion isn't a factor.
Goff hasn't played in 2 months either...so the fact is they both are backing up Keenum who played his best game thus far today.

I read pretty well myself. From what I read, the coaches aren't "raving" as you say. They are pleased with his progress...just as I am...but I still think it not fair to have Mannion consistently inactive.

Is this legit? Raiders to Las Vegas

teams have to protect players with NMC, NTC. teams are manipulating their lineups (leaving players in ahl, juniors) to take advantage of ELC's as well. teams like the penguins can only protect one goalie. murray or fleury ? one reason why teams are trading goalies recently.
they are being setup to be successful from day 1. there will be no "tough years" like atlanta, minnesota, columbus, nashville. the guaranteed lottery spot is fine IF they didnt make the playoffs. the next question is how will they treat the next franchise after that ?

There are some tools where you can go through team by team and protect players and then do a simulated draft. There's not going to be tons of star power, most teams are going to dangle bad contracts in hopes that the player gets picked.

LA Rams receiver Brian Quick has come a long way to get back on track

There is truth to that, of course. But isn't there a shelf life for everything? Is it worth waiting until year five for a guy to just be decent? Did we have value in getting virtually nothing until this year, for the 33rd pick overall, in 2012?

Ashlon Jeffery and TY Hilton were taken after Quick, could you imagine getting 4 yrs of even mediocre production from them, due to the QB situation? They of course would flash every once in a while when our QB's had a decent day, so...

I would say no, waiting this long for production was not worth it...but we might as well enjoy it now...
That would depend on the coaching staff. I happen to think you can't just compare Quick to those drafted with him without looking at everything...but there's no need to rehearse all that.

I think we have to wait before we say Quick has been vindicated...but as the post says "he's come a long way".
