So let's talk SNAPS

Good post. Personally, I'd like to see a complete overhaul of the receiving corps. Get rid of every starter and get what you can in draft picks (where applicable), and then immediately promote Cooper, Thomas, Spruce, Higbee, Hemingway, and grab the best FA WR you can find.

Anyone catch your eye?

Article: Rams Coaching Search

I still want Martz. His problem was with the front office and, as it turned out, the front office was the problem. I like Demoff and Snead. Bring in Martz and let's see what he can do when the front office isn't working against the coach. I know he let Warner go, but at the time Warner was in a slump and Bulger was better. It's the time of year for wishes, isn't it?

Rams job most desired one by coaches.

The Rams have:

- The best player in the NFL (Donald)
- A very talented young RB (Gurley)
- An unknown with upside at QB (Goff)
- A stud MLB (Ogletree)
- A damned fine NT (Brockers)
- An enigma at RDE (Quinn)
- A "weapon" (Austin)
- IF RESIGNED a fantastic SS (McDonald)
- A Big Nickel OLB (Barron) (Alternatively, a good starting SS)
- IF RESIGNED a talented but injury-prone starting CB (Johnson)
- A good starting FS (Joyner) (IMO)

The OL is a mess... although a new coach may think they can still mold young talent like Robinson, Brown and Havenstein into good starters. The secondary needs a lot of work, they need at least one young starting DE, they need two OLBs, they need multiple WRs and TEs, and they need RB depth.

But there is enough talent and intrigue on the roster to sway a potential coach. Certainly more than there was going into 2012.

They're probably a few years away, but they're a few years away with the roster to make those few years tolerable under the right leadership.

Jrry32 Second Mock - David Shaw Edition

I just saw this today and I like it a lot......I mean a lot!!!! I agree that we do not "have to blow up the roster", just get a lot better coaching. This year's roster is not a 4 - 9 roster; too much underdeveloped talent. Quick has had some pretty good catches this year and Robinson has had his moments.....really believe it is a lack of total focus, concentration, the mental stuff holds them back; hopefully the new staff will demand that and get them to perform. I think I counted four FA signings, which seem doable, agree with TJ/Mo, Joyner at FS, just looked at the LSU C yesterday and think he'll go 2nd round as well.
I'm intrigued by David Shaw and your regarding his connections excites me as well, I really like info like this.
Thanks a lot.....

Middle school offense

I once watched my brother playing goalie for our local H.S. varsity soccer team. Our team was playing another team from a big city, and from the start it was obvious we were going to get smoked. They way they knifed through our "defense" was laughable, they all knew their roles & played them to a 'T'. The passing was timely, and within 10-15 seconds they were taking shots on goal. On a penalty kick, we were used to lining a few guys up in front to screen the shot from the goal; the other team put some of their guys between our guys, and when their player kicked the ball they all dropped down to create gaps in our line! ball sailed right through us. They were playing chess & we were playing checkers. The frustration and helplessness was palpable, and I knew if we had the same level of coaching we might be competitive.
When Gurley has to sit after a 3-and-out and watch a real offense cut through our lauded defense, I can feel his frustration and aggravation. I don't blame him one bit. In fact if he's the only one feeling the frustration, the only one knowing this level of play & coaching is not acceptable, then the Rams have serious problems indeed.

ST coach John Fassel named Interim HC

Looked pretty nervous. It will get better as the days go on. His head is probably still spinning from what's happened today.

I dunno that anyone can prepare you for the cameras.

When I architected the first Mac-based render farm in 1999, there was some buzz getting generated behind the scenes. Companies were getting excited. Steve Jobs knew about it and was actually gonna talk about it once we went public. So, prior to our company going public (which never happened because... our dot.com was run by morons who squandered a multi-billion dollar slam dunk idea, but I'm not bitter...), one of the companies whose tech I used wanted to shoot a promo video and interview me and some of the others on the tech team.

I sit down, feeling fine...slightly nervous...camera's on... guy asks me a question... and....

I vomit the most inane word salad while my face extrudes a comical amount of flop sweat.

Camera turns off and you'd think I just came out of hypnosis. I feel fine again. I remember all the smart, coherent, pertinent, perspicacious things I had wanted to say. I can't hardly remember the Yabba-dabba-dipwad nonsense I uttered. I just know it was so bad, I was NOT offered a second take. And I built the thing...

Was one of the truly strangest experiences of my life. I USED to be harsh on people who behave strangely in front of the camera. Not anymore.

God Bless Bones. He's in a super tough spot and he's got players who's heads are stuck in the past having to play on a short week. They got ONE day to get it turned around or they're gonna get ROCKED by SEATTLE no less...

61 years ago today

Actually it was 61 years ago yesterday. Oops.

Rams knock off Green Bay 31-17 to head to their fourth NFL title game in seven years. My Packer fan sister, born of the Rodgers era, has been razzing me pretty good lately. I stumbled upon this video in an effort to show her how things once were....and will be again.

Just a fun little video with some old time football.

When the change will be made at head coach POLL

Snack, I love your avatar. I have 2 dachshunds and one looks like "Let Me Show You".

I laugh every time I see it.

That picture looks exactly like my weenie dog Herman. I lost him a couple years ago. He was an escape artist. Used stealth to sneak out the door when someone had it open. One day he ran in the street and got hit. He was loads of fun and a personality to boot. Those dogs have attitude. They're small but they act like they're large and in charge.

We'll Find the Leak

I was listening to the Fast Lane show last week and they were guessing who leaked the info about the extensions being done. Karaker's guess was Kara Snead. I think he might be right. It kind of makes sense.

Guess it doesn't matter now, if it ever did...At least now, we will be graced by the presence of Eric the Narcissist...
Yeah, I know he's revered, I'm just tired of him right now...

Postgame Interview with William Hayes

"I'm not freaking going 7-9, or 8-8, or 9-7. Okay? Or 10-6 for that matter. This team is too talented." - Jeff Fisher.

Hmm... Jeff told us we should have finished with 11+ wins this year and said we are plenty talented. After all, who has a better level of insight than the head coach?

I may not share the same opinion as you, but what am I to believe if coach Fisher says we're going to be winning only to be sitting at 4-9 after week 14?

Talk is cheap, that is all.

Can you imagine the outrage here if he would have sat down and said "Well, we have Keenum or a rookie QB expect to be disappointed this year folks!"?

Falcons@Rams Vent Thread

Three and outs add up when you are trying to catch your defensive breath. Defenses play harder in close games. A blowout is just what it sounds like a blowout and we have had three of them in a row.

You're not even coming up with logical arguments at this point. The offense constantly went 3-and-out under Keenum. We were the worst team in the NFL when it came to 3rd down conversions. We were the worst team in the NFL at scoring. The difference between then and now was the defense playing at a high level.

Stop with these bad arguments. You can't even justify continuing to start Keenum. At best, the Rams win 1 of the last 4 games (Miami). And that's not even remotely guaranteed considering Keenum's penchant for making boneheaded mistakes in the 4th quarter.

Constructive talk about the future - what would you do?

Go hard after Terrelle Pryor. The guy competes. He switches from QB to WR. Gets cut by the Browns. Then was brought back and is on track for a 1200 yard season with an abysmal QB situation. That’s a guy who wants to play football. In an interview he said he’d cut his finger off for the Browns to win. We need THOSE types of guys. Not the types who like to goof around in a golf cart during training camp and almost injure themselves before the season starts. Those types are immature clowns. You don’t win with them.

I do have enormous respect for Pryor. Yeah, I'd be good with him being a FA we bring in.

Jeff Fisher Postgame Press Conference - 12/11

The season has turned into a total train wreck. At this point, there is nothing he can say anymore. It is what it is. I don't doubt everyone is trying. Even the coaches. But at some point you have to realize your best isn't good enough. Its time to make changes and find people who are good enough.

We can analyze this to death. But it could be as simple as the guys you're up against are better. If the team wants to win they need players who are better than the ones they go up against week after week. Either by coaching them up better or replacing them.

Robert Quinn

I think Quinn needs one more year to recover. He just got back surgery and hasn't looked like the same player this year. Although earlier in the season he was a one man wrecking crew. Even Aaron Donald hasn't been as dominate. Jeff Fisher gets ousted, Jim Harbaugh comes in and we go 13-3 and make the playoffs next year while breaking all sorts of sack records.
