John Sullivan

Having a strong game plan where you will primarily run the ball this late in the season, when every player that has started is tired, bruised & fighting injury......will make even old wore down OL'ers get a serious good second wind, it just usually works better. Seems to me I have seen a bunch of Defensive Linemen falling to injury as of late.

An offense that is forced to play & go to a heavy dose of Pass Blocking puts these OL'er in an easier position to fail or be called for holding.....Not the way you want to play this time of the year when you lose you go home. I will be hoping that Wade shuts down the Saints running game completely & force Brees to have to pass....:sneaky:

Are we sure that was really John Sullivan playing center in that Ram Uni last Saturday? :bow:to Sully who gave us his best against the Cowboys DL!I hate to admit this :oops:but I had already written JS off as our 2019 starting center after observing his 2018 performance about the time of the Eagle loss.

We were having discussions here about Brian Allen, Austin Blythe, Aaron Neary & JJ Dielman as our 2019 centers. But as we know wk #16 McVay/Kromer regrouped with a better Ram game plan even with an "in the repair maintenance shop" Gurley. Since wk #16 JS is in the very center of the offense that has averaged 39 pts since:shocked:.

I think it came down to in those few weeks, Gurley was hurting and Brown was out. McVay did not want to over use Gurley and did not trust John Kelly or Justin Davis. So we went a little pass happy and did so against 2 teams that had a great pass rush in Chicago and Philly.

So some bad timing there, but then of course Anderson fell into our laps and it allowed McVay to re-balance the offense.

Sullivan can function well like that with a balance of run and pass, but he can't pass block every play against guys Cox and Hicks.

Malcolm Brown or CJ Anderson

I agree. This year everyone is looking for a McVay clone. Next year: a CJ Anderson clone.

Kamara & Ingram are not bad at all. Throw in Hill & Seam Payton has some nice weapons.

— Snead was against having an extra RB like CJ Anderson during drafts. I think this changes things moving forward how ever that looks.

McVay is always trying to progress his offensive mind.

Hoping you guys win it all

All on board with the Rams. You guys are a classy team. I hope your holding up the Lombardi in just over 2 weeks.

Yes, very classy. As every Packer fan I know.

When I think of football, I think of them as the true Americas Team. Compared to the Cowboys, very few hate on the Packers.

We will all be watching Matt this next year. Hope he brings some of our magic with him brother.

UCF KNIGHTS

I don't want to be a jerk because I respect Heupel and what he's building, but it's an overstatement to say that UGA wanted Dillon Gabriel badly. He was never at the top of their board at QB, and once they flipped Dwan Mathis, he was more or less an afterthought for them (because they still had Plumlee committed). Now, USC might have wanted him badly. I can't speak to their interest. I don't follow their recruiting because they don't come much into conflict with UF.

I hope the Gabriel kid works out for you. I'm a big Milton fan, so I was quite sad to see what happened to him.

The reports I read claimed Georgia was recruiting him hard. It put a smile on my face because my brother is a Georgia Tech grad and we love to see things go bad for the dawgs.

Celebration Thread - Cowboys@Rams

Oh I didn't retire. I couldn't stand that stuff any longer. I left with 10 total years, 7.5 active.

Oh I hear ya. I hit year 14 and I was DONE. Couldn't take it anymore. My wife says "you've only got 6 years more, find something you like and do it." I changed to a non-combat job. A year after getting schooled in the new job I got deployed to Kuwait. Thanks Wife! It actually wasn't that bad and the only people to die were in traffic accidents not combat.

Jared Goff Is Championship Sunday’s Least-Proven Quarterback—and May Also Be Its Most Important

Championship proven, not sure how Mahomes is any more “proven” than Goff If anything Goff is more proven, he hasn’t been playing like it lately but it’s kind of a subjective question. Goff managed to survive the hell that was Fisher’s offense, made it to the playoffs and got humbled and now is back. I’m not trying to downgrade what Mahomes has done but this is his first year starting and first trip to the playoffs. Maybe it won’t matter, I hope not, but I wouldn’t say championship proven.

Peters = Watkins?

If/when Peters becomes a FA who will offer him $9M? I don't think any team will offer him that much so I don't see him having a trade value. We can't 'officially' trade him until the new NFL season at which point the $9M becomes guaranteed. Obviously we could have an unofficial trade agreement but those can be awkward, especially for a low pick. I think the Rams will cut him loose before the new season begins. We'll probably offer him a cheaper 2 year deal before then but I don't see him staying with us.

PFF: Ranking the four conference championship teams at every position group

I don’t follow. I’m saying you can take out Thomas, but then you are leaving another receiving option open, and Brees doesn’t need much time to find the open man.

I'm going to guess the guys you metioned - all combined might not even be 20% of Thomas production on the year.

Yeah I'll cover Curry and Let Draymond shoot all day..

McVay/Phillips/Talib/CJ/Woods/Donald Press Conference: 1/17/19

looks like Todd isn't a fan of doing pressers....

My wife is a huge Bears fan and I remember watching Peanut Tillman doing these early in his career he was downright hostile to the media ..it's an uncomfortable watch...

I like Todd's pressers. He takes his time and thinks about his answers. I like he didn't give a percentage of his health. A little early for a nickname for the RB duo but, that's what we do here. He is honest and not disrespectful.

Extra Day Of Rest Should Help Also

Don't forget, the Rams Played Saturday, and the Saints played Sunday night. An extra day of rest/preparation could be the extra edge we need.

Go Rams!!
I have been watching for this extra day thing for 40+ years...and I think it matters, but I am not sure any team's victory is because of it either--at least directly attributed to that. THE MNF factor, coming of the road game does seem to matter. I tink for Sully and Whit and SAFF it matters...I really, really like when the Rams get that extra day...but, no players really talk about it.

Time to change the colors of the Dome.

Brees is the Key.

The Rams can beat any team many different ways.

The Saints have to have Brees lead the way.

Rams need to bring the heat all day long and I mean Wade has to turn into Greg Williams

Send the house every other down

Maybe.
Brees kills teams with his mind, not so much his arm anymore. There isnt a blitz he won't have an answer for... often the answer is Kamara.
Now forcing Brees to be accurate deep, with pressure up the middle? Thats the ticket imo.

Cheatriots @ Chiefs Matchup

I did enjoy the segment though, particularly Mangina explaining the "Patriot's Way" of putting up failures in broad team meeting type environments. I can see how that works, and I do think it's a big part of why Belichick is so great (aside from his deep grasp of the game).

And then I wonder to what extent the Rams do those things. Seem to remember a report about Kroenke walkin around with the "Patriot's Way" book way back when, think it might have even been towards the end of the STL days.

Can McVay Be a Dog?

Mcvay seems like a really likable guy friendly down to earth the kinda dude youd wanna a few beers with ..
but if you let him down rather than screaming and shouting at you he just lets you know how badly you disapointed him and you end up hating yourself and never want to let him down again

2019 NFL Draft Big Board 3.0: Dwayne Haskins, Jachai Polite Climbing the Rankings

2019 NFL Draft Big Board 3.0: Dwayne Haskins, Jachai Polite Climbing the Rankings
By Kalyn Kahler

https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/01/16/2019-nfl-draft-big-board-rankings-dwayne-haskins-jachai-polite

15. DEXTER LAWRENCE, DT, CLEMSON
Height: 6' 3" | Weight: 350 pounds

Lawrence is probably the best run defender in the draft, and an absolute mountain of a man. So why is he so far down the list, despite being on the national radar since his true freshman season? The feeling is that might be all he is—and, as such, maybe a two-down player. Lawrence failed a drug test that kept him out of Clemson’s run to the College Football Playoff National Title, but that doesn’t concern NFL scouts. Scouts said they need more information about the situation but considering Lawrence’s clean history, and that the banned substance was ostarine, and not a street drug, the suspension shouldn’t affect Lawrence’s draft stock.

19. JACHAI POLITE, DE/OLB, FLORIDA

Height: 6' 2" | Weight: 242 pounds

Polite is an explosive presence coming off the edge, and he has a lot of upside to continue improving his technique in the league. In 13 games for Florida, Polite led the nation with six forced fumbles, had 11 sacks (eighth in the country), and 17.5 tackles for loss.

20. TRAYVON MULLEN, CB, CLEMSON
Height: 6' 1" | Weight: 195 pounds

The Clemson junior reinforced what scouts already knew about him with a defensive MVP performance against Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship game. Six tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception. Mullen has the size and speed to be developed into a top-flight corner
