Rams cuts on the way to 53

I have been thinking the same thing about Cory Littleton being the lone ranger ILB'er......but I may be off in thinking that.....Wade has three new elements in the main defensive mixing batter.... Clay Matthews, Taylor Rapp & Eric Weddle. This trio may radically change things up in Wade's defensive Nickel & dime schemes.

Rapp was the Rams top draft selection for a big reason...to resolve our biggest defensive flaw that was ongoing behind the middle of our DL. Rapp was not drafted to play FS. He is here to get involved around the box in space as a tackler & getting those pass catching RB's & TE's to the ground quickly.

CL was always the main key defender in the Nickel before the new batter mix. Weddle or Matthews can call the defense now & Rapp's dynamic tackling "Rapp Ups" on those short over the middle crossing routes by RB's & TE's may not be as big of a problem as it was the last two seasons We will see this Sunday.

Excellent post, Bonifay.

One thing is very probable. Wade will have tons of fun while tinkering with his available packages this season. The possibilities are almost endless with such talented and intelligent chess pieces.

Might take Wade 6-8 games to find his most effective combos.

Another thing. In the process I expect to see opposing QB’s making lots of false reads and consequent mistakes.

Winners and losers from Rams' 22-10 victory in preseason finale

probably slid due to his performance during his senior season, played with an injury(showed a lo of heart) but was the injury resolved or something permanent.. I have no idea of the reality, but could be the reason for his lasting until round five.
i thint Evans projects more as guard,
train

It is interesting how much work the backup O’line got & how they cross trained. They got game time experience really fast,

Seahawks trade for Jadeveon Clowney

It’ll be interesting.

Wilson is way better than Garappolo. Carroll (as much as I can’t stand his ass) seems a better leader/motivator than Shanny (who’s gotta be feeling the heat at least a little)

But the Seahawks have some serious question marks: Can Wilson survive another year running for his life behind a trash Oline? Can his “throw the ball up for grabs” magic last forever? Who’s catching balls for them anyway? I think their defense and Wilson will be enough for 8-9 wins. But they’re definitely trending downward.

If teams don’t let Seattle run at them with 7 Olinemen, and make Wilson play from the pocket for a damn change. My prediction goes down to 7 wins.

SF...I don’t know. I have a hard time seeing Garappolo leading them to an above-.500 record. Sans Jimmy, they look interesting on paper...but until they prove something... *shrug*

I still don’t see either roster or coaching staff competing with ours for the Division Title.
I give credit to Carroll and Wilson keeping them relevant following their peak and not bottoming out quickly once the talent level dropped. Wilson remains a true MVP in the literal sense IMO. Put an average QB on their more recent squads and they're winning maybe 3 games. I have no doubt of that.

This will be year 3 under Shanny Jr. Maybe the light comes on for their core roster? Idk.
IMO he's done a decent job considering they've had critical injuries and Lynch's talent acquisitions have been ineffective, at least in my view.

I want Laremy Tunsil!

"The Miami Dolphins today announced they have acquired a 2020 first-round pick, a 2021 first-round pick, a 2021 second-round pick, cornerback Johnson Bademosi and tackle Julien Davenport from the Houston Texans in exchange for tackle Laremy Tunsil, wide receiver Kenny Stills, a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2021 sixth-round pick." - Dolphins official website.

So...a 1st for Tunsil...and a 1st, a 2nd, and 2 players for Kenny Stills and 2 low picks. Wow! That's a lot for Kenny Stills!

Just kidding. ;)

Quotes & Notes 8/31: Continuity highlights first 53-man roster of 2019

It's funny how many times in their presser yesterday that Les and Sean emphasized Bones' influence on the bottom of the roster. People might start paying attention to him as a coach other than what Hekker and GZ do.
Even in the Fisher Era this was apparent, guys like Bates, Armstrong, and Chase Reynolds made the team solely on their STs ability.

For those who think cut WRs will make practice squad

I would prefer that they not have a return specialist. There's too much talent on this roster to be cutting really good position players.
He probably means the first attempt against the cowboys. Doesn't matter that he caught the next three in a row.

Some people have their biases and that's that, their minds can't be changed.

.

I did - and that’s a fair assessment (of my take).
I know he’s great on ST, and and and, he just seems to be a “yeah, but” guy.

If we were not so loaded at WR, and his 5th year wasn’t coming up, I’d like him a lot more. He is talented, just seems to miss when he should not.

Rams cap as of today

Well, ... I just looked at TB on Spotrac, and they appear to be almost $3.mil over the Cap, but they are still counting 62 players, so not all the cuts have been applied yet.

You only count the top 51 at this point... Actually will change to 53.

That is why that site makes no sense.

The Mcvay Offensive Genius Narrative

I think it will be up to McVay to decide if he wants to be locked up for the long term. He is videogenic enough that he undoubtedly knows that if he wants to, he will be able to get a lucrative TV deal for big money and less stress. He can do that - and then return to coaching whenever he wants. I'm sure he'll want a few Super Bowl victories first, though. Both for pride reasons, and because he knows they will guarantee him even more money as a commentator.
The NFL world is certainly open for whatever he wants to do. Yes he'd be one of the best analysts ever with his recall and knowledge. But I also think he might want to do some GM work down the road like his grandfather too, who knows.

Either way, make sure it's in horns. Pay that MFer and align everything to keep him around as long as possible.
