2020 Rams position battles: Nickel cornerback

I think the release of "Nickle Only corner" NRC was a smart move when looking at it in its totality.

The Org has positioned itself very well going into the 2020 season @ the Nickle position. They have many DB's signed who have the talent to be better than NRC was last season. I was of the opinion that NRC was slightly overrated by fans.
Personally I’m glad NRC is gone. Still ticked off at him not just for poor play in the NFC championship game but for blathering on and on about it afterwards. Like to see Long step up.

Bleacher Report Names Jalen Ramsey as a Player to Trade

I think we're gonna see a record contract, but with escalators and a gob of guaranteed money.

I could see an avg of $18M with as much as $70M guaranteed, both records.

Byron Jones just signed a 5 yr/ $82.5M contract which comes out to $16.5M/yr with $54M guaranteed.

I think we'll see a contract with Jalen Ramsey of 6 yr/$108M with $68.5M guaranteed. I think it'll be an extension which puts off the bigger cap years off for 2-3 years, but isn't "back loaded" as most people think of it.

I think we'll see a similar contract for Cooper Kupp....which only further illustrates the STEAL that Robert Woods is...

But the only difference I see with Kupp is that he's more likely to go for a 4-5 yr deal than a 6 yr deal.

All this is predicated on the cap not shrinking significantly. If it does, I think players will sign very short deals hoping for a rapid recovery of the cap to pre-COVID levels and beyond.

Damn, I miss football...

Dumbest thing i've read recently

Haven't seen a lot of live shows... but I did see The Time at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd.

They were so much fun live. Morris Day really knows how to play to a crowd.

Saw Stevie Wonder at the Irvine Amphitheater... never again. Stevie was amazing, but the venue had super strict ending times so even though he was feeling the crowd and wanted to go on (felt like it woulda been a long time, too), he had to leave...no encores...nuthin. He didn't seem happy about it, that's for sure.

I saw a couple of concerts at the Greek and all, but one were good. But yeah, one of them was really plain... felt like I was listening to the radio.

When KISS came back, they specifically said that they came back because rock shows around that time sucked... guys phoning it in, no stage presence...

But yeah, the idea that Brian May isn't a creative force is just silly.

Goff's contract

everybody is critical of goff's deal except for half the people in here.

every article i've read that mentions it makes some snide comments about the money the rams paid goff.

it irritates me no end. and i don't even care what those bozos think but it still makes me roll my eyes every time i see it.

.

Do you really think half the posters were critical of Goff's contract? I must have missed that many complaints.

I know some of the media took a negative stance as it makes for ratings and clicks.

I can't imagine if the Rams hadn't resigned Goff at all or waited like Dak and Dallas. We all suffered too long to let the franchise QB slip away. As I posted earlier the Goff contract is a fair market deal for both sides.

79 days until football

Had a very interesting career. 26 year old rookie with the Rams.

Came along after the original Fearsome Foursome broke up. Played five years with the Rams (same as Havenstein) and was really good. I was a huge Deacon Jones fan but at that point, I thought Coy Bacon was the better player.

One year after the Rams disappointed me by trading Deacon to the Chargers (they had some kid named Jack Youngblood they thought might be good), they traded Bacon to the Chargers.

This was after the disappointing 1972 season when the Rams were under five hundred. New coach I never heard of. They traded my favorite player (Roman Gabriel) to Philadelphia and Bacon to San Diego. Just awful for a child.

Did I mention that I was an idiot?

The coach was Chuck Knox (NFL Coach of the Year), they got All Pro WR Harold Jackson from the Eagles, QB John Hadl from the Chargers (1973 MVP) and went 12-2.

Bacon played another 8 or 9 years, and continued to be really good.

Good God you and I could be twins....I feel like I wrote this...With the exception of being an idiot part, I'm not that humble.

2010s Rams All-Decade Team

Hastily written, hastily read. Left out TG's OPOY hardware.
Higbee >>>> Cook
Everett >>> Cook
There's just no question. Doesn't matter what his on-field stats were. He was so often in the wrong place, lined up wrong, flagged, drops, etc. Sure he "produced" here & on the other teams he's been on, but I'd take the guys we have over Cook -- I'd even take Mundt over Cook.
Sadly, he's right about our LB corps, though I'd never say they were "rock solid" against the run, that's just not correct. Though it's hard to fault them when your offense goes 3-and-out almost every series. Those guys were gassed by the 4th Q. For years, Quinn - Brock - Donald - Long were the ONLY reason to watch the Rams.

Rams Dad Day

Just in case you don't know... I'm big time into fishing.

I was in a group text with a bunch of friends yesterday who are all fathers. One of them posted a pic of him and his son jumping into the water and both of them were holding spear guns. Across the top of the pic it said - To all of you fathers who don't fish.

Along the bottom of the pic it said - Happy mother's day.

We have a few non fisherman buddies. LOL
