Ron Rivera draws on lifetime of lessons to face cancer, chaos in Washington

I wish the very best for HC Ron Rivera on his war with squamous cell carcinoma for I know it very well & it's mean, bad & one serious mass killer if not treated on a frequent sometimes a daily basis.

This type of cancer also took my Dad after a decade worth of fighting. I know that we have ROD members who have been battling cancer for long periods & pray for them to continue to have the strength for this ongoing fight. I am very thankful for the many health care professionals that have assisted me in my own ongoing war against this type of cancer! Have great hopes on finding a cure for cancer in our near future for this & all the generations that come after us.

Week 4 Snap Counts

Only 3 plays for Van Jefferson!?!?!
We ran a lot of 2 and 3 TE sets this past week. We even saw Mundt get a catch. I think Jourdan mentione we ran 3 TE 4x our average.
And not many the week before either since the interception where he didn't cut off the db from the ball.

Let's not overlook Josh Reynolds either. He's made the most of his limited opportunities and has shown sticky hands in tight coverage.

Drive Killers - Giants game

No question Rams missed Akers against the Giants. Henderson was beat up from the week before. They need to be able to run outside as well as straight ahead and have a speed threat in the flat for passes as you point out. Rams start to look plodding when Brown is in for 35 snaps and they're going to two tight ends a lot.
more of Calais would have been good
train

What I intend focusing upon vs the Giants...

Dude extending the play yes, like moving and being comfortable in the pocket like Brees or Brady do, moving up and around, hanging in there to buy extra time. Like Goff did on that 3rd down first drive when he completed the pass to Brown on 3rd and 8. He got flustered after that and was literally checking down when there was no pressure on him. And we should still be able to win games without a running game. He shouldn't need 150yards rushing to be successful. Why don't people understand that? You know there will be games against actual good teams when the running game is shut down right?? So we're just going to accept losses in those games lmao? How about go make some plays when coach doesn't scheme people wide open on a silver platter. When hes forced to read a defense and anticipate he just struggles, and there were multiple wide open WRs he missed man. We saw it in the SB clear as day.

Thats why McVay gets all the credit and the talking heads don't give Goff the respect many think he deserves. He has elite arm talent but isnt an elite QB. Reading defenses, throwing accurately under pressure, anticipating people coming open, and playing well in games where you dont have a decisive scheme advantage, he's just not consistent enough. The Bills defense is twice as good yet he plays far worse against the giants. No excuse for his inconsistency IMO.

Not much came to the Rams on a silver platter yesterday as the Giants made them work for everything they got. McVay's scheme is only as good as his players make it look.

Sure it would be nice if Goff could make more on off-schedule plays but that's never been his strength. Assuming his pocket presence will continue to improve as he's still on an upward trajectory. For now, have to accept him as he is. High efficiency passer who communicates with McVay very well and runs his offense the way he wants it to be run.

How Spygate really worked

The whole thing pretty much killed my fandom. I'm a casual fan these days. I basically hope for the best while expecting the worse. The realization that having the best team in the league is less a factor in winning it all than is being your turn in the "parity" rotation. I just can't take the NFL seriously anymore. I'm more invested in Fox's Sunday night "Animation Domination" programs than football. Thanks NFL.

McVay post game presser

Hard to say without an all 22 views.
There were plays where there were open receivers and he checked down.
Nearly everything was short.
Before the long pass to Kupp Goff was at 4.5 yards per attempt, which is terrible.
One thing we know is when Goff gets confused he slows way down in going through his progressions and holds the ball. This means he is often late to his check down.
Don’t know what the issue is and all QBs miss seeing wide open receivers every week.
Next week will be very interesting.
Playing a very good D front on the road.
Was the O performance against the Giants a roadbump or the canary in the coal mine?

Road bump

Worst Oline performance of the season...run game and pass protection

They threw the same route that Kupp scored on earlier in the game...bounced off Kupp's fingers and would have been a 20+ yard gain.

Game Day Menu Thread (GDMT) What's on your Menu for Giants?

I've been on a strict diet and exercise regimen due to health issues. So I got up early and went on our treadmill while watching Face The Nation. I really admire Margaret Brennan; she's an excellent moderator--one of the best in the business. Then had a fruit bowl and a banana and watched the Chargers game just to see Anthony Lynn make a dumb call; he always does. ( Why hand the ball to Josh Kelley? Take a knee for gosh sakes)
Then ate a turkey sandwich delivered from a local deli) while watching the Rams. Dessert: Ram victory and 49er loss!

Giants at Rams

Why the Ram's returned to their outside zone blocking almost exclusively, ignoring the inside zone and gap blocking that has been hugely successful was dumb. You play your game until the opposition forces you to adjust. All McVay did was outsmart himself and handicapped his offense. Hill needs to sit they have Long and Burgess or play 3 safeties. Staley can play man on the boundaries and zone with LBs and 3 safeties for everyone else.

SNF: Eagles at 49’ers

Just an after thought.......

I was measurably happy about our win over the Midgets. (A sincere apologetic feeling to those that are PC sensitive)

But even more happy about the Whiners (Again, a sincere apologetic feeling to those that are PC sensitive) losing to the Beagles (never mind. I love dogs)

I may need help.
