Is LB Troy Reeder the Real Deal?

I'm willing to give Reeder more playing time. As stated, he brings a good thump when he hits and has shown to be strong in the middle in short yardage. His sacks on Smith were mostly created by our other guys, but I did like the shoe string sack. Just Keep in mind that wasn't vs Murray, Wilson or Jackson.

One thing I can't stand is LBers that get washed up in the run game and get pushed back when trying to bring a runner down, Reeder is a breath of fresh air in this way because he brings a guy down and is generally a brick wall that won't get pushed back. These extra yards make 3rd downs easier and having an ILB that can mimimize runs is really important.

But again, I see him as a role player. Short yardage and Known runs yes. Games can be lost in the middle of the field if the Brees and Rodgers of the world can find open players sitting down in the middle. This is where Reeder has to show he can excel. Alternatively, Staley would nee to show he can scheme up covering the middle of the field if he's going to have Reeder as an every down player.

Bruce Ariens Sucks

Personally I don't like Arians but I don't know why. He was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be Peyton's QB coach at Indy from 1998-2000. He was Cleveland's OC and couldn't get the same out of Tim Couch (but who could?). His big break was getting hired by Cowher and staying with a extremely successful franchise for almost a decade. Then he went to Indy and in his first year, took over for Pagano in Luck's rookie year, going 9-3 while he was out fighting cancer. But if you look at the Arizona Cardinals, he had three double digit win seasons for a franchise that hadn't had 2 in a row since Coryell (74-76) and haven't had 1 since, so there's that. So the guy has got to know something. His team is certainly underachieving with the supposed GOAT but that may be because of Brady, as DieterBrock stated. But there's still 3 weeks left in the season and TBay has a cake schedule so we'll see what they do in the postseason, where Brady shines. Hopefully they're one and done.

From the Podium: Rams look ahead to Sunday's game vs. Jets

From the Podium: Rams look ahead to Sunday's game vs. Jets

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay, defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, cornerback Darious Williams and quarterback Jared Goff each held video conferences with local media Wednesday to discuss the challenges the Jets' offense and defense present and the Rams defense's touchdown-scoring streak, among other important topics.

Here are some of the highlights and key takeaways from those virtual conversations:

"(In the event of a possible COVID-19 situation) is the thinking, because those people that are in close proximity (and) if you lost that, because those (specialist roles) are such rare positions." – McVay

With a potential playoff berth in sight, the Rams continue to shore up their COVID-19 contingency plans at key positions. On Tuesday, they signed punter Brandon Wright to their practice squad, and designated him, kicker Austin MacGinnis and recently-signed longsnapper Colin Holba as protected practice squad players this week to prevent other teams from signing them.

In addition to those precautions, McVay also said they're keeping starting quarterback Jared Goff and backup John Wolford at least six feet apart to minimize the risk of one of them getting the virus.

"What Frank (Gore) has been able to accomplish, that consistency and performance at a position that normally doesn't last that long, it's just remarkable." – Staley

Staley is well-aware of Gore and his distinguished career, having coached against him and alongside two of Gore's former coaches (Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell) from his 49ers days.

Recalling the time he coached against him, Staley said he was on the Bears coaching staff two years ago and they were facing the Dolphins, and Gore – at age 35 – ran for 101 yards and a touchdown for Miami against the NFL's number one defense.

"It's kind of crazy, three touchdowns in three weeks, but I feel like that just shows you the type of guys that we have in the locker room. We've got a bunch of guys who can create plays, cause turnovers, and not only that, but take it to the house and create a difference in the game." – Williams

Linebacker Kenny Young's pick-six against the Patriots last week marked the Rams' third straight game with a defensive touchdown.

"We want to be a defense that takes away the ball," Williams said.

"The main thing we focus on every week is how are we going to be at our best? And are we going to run our plays at our best?" – Goff

For Goff and the Rams offense, the main focus is on their own execution, not so much what the Jets may be doing similarly or differently under a new defensive coordinator after letting their previous one go last week.

"You see if there are any differences there, but they have the ability to run anything they ran all year and have the ability to add things this week," Goff said, "but when we're focused on ourselves, when we are executing how we want to execute, it usually falls in place."

You see perfection and I see that it was't as clean and room for improvement.
Good play but could have been better.
Giving only one example is Noteboom did poorly on the transition after the initial block, even thought he guy in the video said did a great job.

Well maybe "relative perfection" might be more accurate, since actual perfection isn't found on any football play ever..

Army Cancels "Shark Attack"

In '91, it was Boot (Orlando), NF ET-A school (Orlando), Nuke school (Orlando) and prototype was Idaho (that was still open) or Charleston, SC.

The stories about prototype in Idaho were... nightmarish... especially if you were there between Jan-Mar... frick. 90 min ride in a yellow school bus with no insulation and you better not miss the bus, b/c even IF you could drive out, there was no on base parking for Nukes. Miss the bus once and it was a serious UA fuck up.

I was one of the few married guys and apparently they gave married guys with good grades preference for Charleston due to housing. I was about to grad ET-A school with honors before it all went to shit.

Also, at that time, married guys had duty preference in assignments and nearly all of them wanted boomers for the regular schedule... which worked out b/c not many of the single guys liked the idea of never seeing another port.

I'd heard stories of "rotten Groton", but I don't think any of my instructors went there, so compared to stories from "Great Mistakes" and Idaho prototype (too much PTSD to make up a nickname, apparently).
I ended up being a conventional field ET and went to a shore duty right out of "C" school(s) at Point Loma (Naval Ocean Systems Center). I worked with engineers making new expensive toys for warfare. Since we supported them, we got every other Friday off because they had them off. We had 14 section duty and all of us lived off base, paid for by Uncle Sam.

Livin' the dream in San Diego at 21 years old....

Cooper Kupp says Rams WRs get most excited about blocking, not catching passes

Sure appears Shorty Head Coach of the Rams has his high skilled offensive stars in the true right frame of mind!

We were wondering why we're seeing so much of WR Reynolds instead of the more highly talented WR Van Jefferson......could be Jefferson was not in the right frame of mind as is Reynolds/ Everett/Kupp/ Woods/Higbee & Mundt.......YET!

He might not have the blocking technique down as well as JR yet. Given his pedigree and the type of guy he's shown himself to be, I'm sure he's willing as a blocker, but probably didn't get a lot of experience doing so in college.

Rams proven right for admitting mistake with Todd Gurley contract

McSnead avoided falling into the sunk cost fallacy by letting Gurley go, and ditto with Cooks. There was a good discussion about how they had to take some short term embarrassment over that in this week's 11 Personnel podcast, but they are looking good on that decision now, especially after Akers' breakout game and Gurley's rather pedestrian numbers in ATL.

The Agony Of De-Cleat

Yes, sir My eyes still catch the Gators colors even when I do not think football. But nothing like being a Ram fan.

I go all the way back to Doug Dickey's years. I have a big mix in my family too. Most of all my family members are gathered around Gainseville Fl or Tallahassee Fl. Does make it very interesting when we have our family reunions during the holidays. I have at times both & that's rare. I live in NWFL as you know & even up here there is a big mixer between the two colleges. I think we have more FSU fans these days as the grandkids grow up.

Hope you & your loved ones have a great healthy safe Holiday season this year Selassie I!

Right back at you Bonifay... and to your family!

It's a pretty even mix of the two fan bases here in Central FL... of course we have a large contingent of UCF fans too (my oldest graduated there).

One of my FSU twins has some friends who play on the football team still for UF. The starting center and the starting long snapper have both been allowed to enter my house. Of course, I had to hit em with the pressure washer 1st. Your ex QB too... the one who looks like a goat because of his beard... he was starting right before Trask. You know who he is. Anyway... They're all good kids. I only had the pressure washer on a low setting. LOL

One of my wife's best friends is a Gator grad and big time fan. They have a standing bet every year... the loser has to pay for dinner at the most expensive steak house in Orlando. Drinks too. There was no winner/loser this year though.

Andrew Whitworth Making Progress In Recovery From Knee Injury

IT would be nice if AW came off the IR beginning Tuesday 12/29/20. Just to get him back in his grove before we hit the playoffs. WEEK 17 · Sun 01/03 would be the last regular-season game against the Cards. That game will have a major impact as to what seed the Rams team will be seated when the playoffs begin.

LT Joseph Noteboom should remain to be the starter but @ some point in the Cards game in LA it would have an impact if AW was to take the field for a series of snaps. I would hope that this would begin the beginning of the LT duo where AW & JN will take alternating offensive series.

The desired outcome of this arrangement is:
#1-To continue to get JN playoff gm snaps experience.
#2-To build an early LT duo (JN/AW) operational program that will be planned for 2021 regular season.
#3-To play it safe in keeping AW fully fresh due to advanced age & recent injury concerns.
#4-To preserve AW in order to have him healthy for the entire 2021 season alternating @ LT.
#5-In order to provide Snead/McVay the needed information for the JN UFA status & upcoming contract talks.
