Rams signed to reserve/futures deals:

Curious how you got to $24M?

From what I see, the Rams get $5.7M of 2021 cap relief by releasing Brockers; and around $7M if they can trade him.
Good catch I was moving fast I should have doubled checked myself. The number I posted was for cost of AW for the 2021/2022 seasons! My bad.

Spotrack has DT Micheal Brockers Cap hits for 2021/2022 seasons @ just under $21 million.
Michael Brockers Contract Breakdowns, Salary Cap Figures, Salaries, Bonuses | Spotrac

OTC has the same numbers.
Michael Brockers Contract Details, Salary Cap Charges, Bonus Money, and Contract History | Over The Cap

Looking deeper on that trade of Brockers pre 6-1-2021 would result in some dead funds.....$1.3 mil in 2021 & $1.3 mil in 2022. So there are some variations.

I am going to go back to my original post & make the needed figure changes.

Rams Hire Raheem Morris as new DC

1 year is a small sample size to assess Williams if he's a great #2 DB; playing opposite of Ramsey certainly has its perks. I wouldn't mind the 2nd rounder if the Rams bite on it since they know much better than we do.

i'm not sure you'd call it perks. he was under the pump the whole year because qbs didn't go ramsey's way. if he wasn't very good he would have been burnt way more than he was. and he made some outstanding plays throughout the season.

the only perk i think he had was having safety help most of the time since ramsey can look after himself. still, easy to get beat if you're not any good.

What’s your success-o meter reading

The offense has regressed the past 2 seasons and was a shell of its 2017-2018 self. The plays were predictable. Who was that on Goff or McVay? We shall see. But many critics insist both were. If you dont think McVay has at least some responsibility then oh well

The short answer is that the Lions and then the Bears in late '18 figured out a way to slow down the Rams.

The Patriots put it all together and just stifled the Rams.

That coupled with a regression of the OL due to losing Saffold and Sullivan meant McVay spent about half the season adjusting.

Schematic adjustments in the NFL are hard. It's not a matter of new plays. It's far more complicated and involved than that. If it weren't, we wouldn't need an off-season and pre-season games.

Things started getting better toward the end of 2019, but not great.

Things improved in 2020. We had a much better run game and the OL improved over 2019. We also improved with respect to schematic adjustments, but Goff continued to regress for a number of reasons. If the issue were solely ball placement, footwork or vision, that would likely not have finalized the divorce. However, the turnovers were the final straw.

I see folks arguing that the "other side" is making these "it's all the other guy's fault" when no one is saying that.

No one is saying it's all Goff's fault or all McVay's fault or all Snead's fault or all Blythe's fault (I mean... it kind of is, but...).

We got to a point and we moved on. It's a shock. Hopefully, parties don't entrench and turn this Goff/McVay thing into Warner/Bulger or Warner/Martz version 2.0... That would be unfortunate... for everyone.

I'm proud/thankful McVay is HC/Snead GM

IMHO McVay is “elite” at what he does.

Marshall was an elite RB. Ike was an elite WR. AD is an elite DT. Ramsey is an elite CB. And McVay is an elite HC.

Do elite guys have bad games? And occasionally make bad decisions? Sure. But don’t ever, ever take these guys for granted.

McVay transformed this franchise from the laughingstock of the NFL into a perennial contender. Took the Offense from worst to first. Had a legit SB run in 2018. Another one coming up.

Every other organization in the NFL recognizes what McVay has to offer, trying to steal away any coach who’s ever worked for him. It’s a shame that some fans here don’t recognize how truly exceptional McVay is.

RIP Dustin Diamond

:unsure:Seems odd. Most prople have more than a few weeks once diagnosed.
My wife said he was so send conscious about going out in public because people trash him so the time that he waited a long ass time before going in. He had a big lump on his neck but wouldn't go in to avoid public scrutiny and the media blowing up his life. I mean, that's exactly what happened when he did go in.

Nobody was mean, but that's because you don't make fun of a dude with stage 4 cancer for two reasons:
1. It's mean as hell, cold hearted
2. Buddy has nothing to lose at that point

Rams Salary Cap Update???

I checked Spotrac earlier today, and the Rams were 31st. Just checked again, they are listed as 30th.

Also just checked Over-the-Cap (those are the two best cap sites as far as I know), and it has the Rams at 27th.

The difference is that Spotrac has the Rams $35 over, while OTC has them at $31M over the projected cap (2021 salary cap has still not been announced).

Not being a wise guy either but I think it makes a huge difference.

Although it’s true that many teams need to create cap space, some teams are in much better position to do so than others.

In the Rams case they have four players with huge 2021 cap hits that have a significant percentage in salary as opposed to bonus. That’s where they can restructure and create cap space by converting salary to bonus.

The four are Donald, Ramsey, Woods and Kupp.

I posted the numbers on other threads. You can see their contracts on Spotrac. Has their 2021 cap hits and the breakdown between salary, bonus and roster bonus.

Beyond those four players the Rams’ Front Office is limited in what it can do unless it extends Stafford, or cut (or trade) players.

I understand all that. I have said for years I don’t like the way the Rams handle the cap. Person I was responding to had fought me on that for a while lol.

At some point I imagine it will catch up to them. They do manage to find ways around it and if they can get Donald and Ramsey to redo and Stafford extended for a year they will actually be in good shape.

The one difference we have them some of the others though is our roster is in pretty good shape. Like most teams there is holes but we potentially could be ok for next year. Beyond that I don’t want to speculate:rolleyes: could get ugly:D

Aikman and Silver going at it

Thats fantastic.. “unlike Michael Silver...”

Shots fired...
I actually think that was a mic drop. As in "this exchange is done."

Everyone knows Silver's a Goff family friend and Cal homer. He's a fan like us (which is why I like him at times) but he's definitely not a fair and unbiased media member. Aikman for all his warts is undoubtedly more fair and unbiased than Silver is, he has to be as a national coverage guy.

Silver is all about the human side. Which again at times I really enjoy. But I don't watch the Rams to root for good human beings. I root for them to win and if they're good human beings on top of that then bonus. Which, for the record, is indeed the case. We have a hell of a nice collection of players in that locker room from not only a talent but also a human perspective. But this game is about winning and we have to be adults here and understand that IMO.

Stedman Bailey Article.

I can't help but wonder how good Stedman would've been in this system. Same with S-Jax.

I'm still mad, but slowly moving to acceptance.
Lord did SJ play behind some pi$$ poor lines.

And Stead got shot right down the street from were I grew up and walked down thousands of time coming from Carol City Sr and Jr High .

Steadman will always be close in my thoughts and Thanks for bringing it Memento .

My new favorite Mic'd Up ever

I hadn’t seen it before also.

That moment is so insanely amazing that it’s been rated as the best mic’ duo moment of all time and it’s the longest unedited NFL Films clip of all time. The NFL Films clip runs 4 mins unedited and without commentary.

I was still coming down from being furious about this trade and I got a bit emotional watching it.

Honestly, it 100% changed my perception of him. I just didn’t know how that about him and confronted with that, I had to lay my misperceptions down and look with fresh eyes.

But yeah, that moment is truly inspiring and an epic moment in football history

Back up to Stafford

Wolford is the next great NFL QB I think I read it somewhere around here! Kidding aside I doubt we do anything else with the QB room.

I concur, Wolford proved he could be a capable backup and you have Perkins too, I don't like the Duck, so I'm not figuring him in. Overall, to this point with the limited draft capital, they have to focus Offensive Line because if they are planning on calling more drop back passes, the Offensive Line is going to have to give the QB more time for those plays to develop.

Four things that need to happen for this trade to work out in 2021

I'm gonna go with one thing.

Stafford has to stay healthy. The guy he's replacing was an iron man in terms of durability. Even if Staff looks fantastic out of the gate it won't mean squat if he gets dinged and starts missing games.

This is a contending playoff team. Ain't nobody got time for a QB who misses snaps or drives or games.

Agree. At the same time, he's started 16 games in 9 of the last 10 years...
