Gerald Everett to the SeaChickens

The Everett pick in the second round always reminded me of the Brian Quick pick . Impressive physical player from a small school that you see some flashes of major talent that you hope can put it all together but for whatever reason it never happens. I do think Everett is the more talented player over Quick but still a major disappointment IMO.
That draft had so many WRs that didn't stay in the NFL long and a few really good ones. Quick was not Jerry Rice (we had hoped he was) and we kept thinking he would get better. T.Y. Hilton, Alshon Jeffrey , Sanu, and Marvin Jones were some of the good ones taken after Quick in that draft.

Buying a Condo Near SoFi

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the neighborhood right near SoFi stadium still seems really crappy. Can get a cheap hotel for $70 or $80 just across the street from the stadium. Weird.

Not at all. But again, people have a lot of misconceptions about neighborhoods in Southern California....and that's honestly one of the reasons why the traffic going to the stadium has been so bad because people are staying on big streets, afraid to use side streets to get to the stadium...which is funny because the neighborhoods you would cut through to get to the stadium has some really expensive and very nice homes...

This has pretty much been our view heading to the stadium the first 2 games....with about his many cars on the street... other than leaving the parking lot for the first game (we parked strategically in our lot for the 2nd game) I've literally not spent a second sitting in traffic.....and again...what jumps out is how nice and well kept the neighborhood is.

Puppy shopping is tough

I kinda want a new pup too, we rescued a border/golden pup about 10 years ago and she passed about 2 months ago. Crushed me like I never thought I could be hurt. Happened super fast playing one day and super lethargic for about a day and a half. Come to find out 60+ percent of goldens die of cancer and she had that golden trait. Herders like the Border are tanks and don't suffer from many ailments.
Only a matter of time for us but Carly will never be matched she was an absolute angel

10 Things with JuJu Hughes

10 Things with JuJu Hughes

1: I got energy, got a lot of energy

Sarina: Who has more energy than [Special Teams Coordinator] Joe DeCamillis?

JuJu: More energy on this team? I don't think anybody has more energy than Joe.

2: I've got a tooth to pick

Sarina: How many toothpicks have you gone through today?

JuJu: Yeah, this might be the third one today. I'm kind of rolling through them today. That's a high number for me.

3: A full Kupp

Sarina: Favorite player to defend on the Rams?

JuJu: My favorite player to defend probably is Cooper Kupp. He's a fun guy to go against. He gives his all every time. He's a great receiver. He's my favorite guy to guard.

4: Bron Bron

Sarina: If you could trade lives with anyone for a week, who would it be?

JuJu: It would probably be with another professional athlete. I'd be an NBA player. I'd be LeBron [James]. He's a real businessman. He has a lot going on. So, like on the court, I'm getting to be Bron Bron and off the court I would get all the benefits that come with that.

5: Speak it into existence

Sarina: What do you envision your first NFL touchdown to be? Is it a pick six?

JuJu: Definitely a pick six. I'm jumping on a little out route, you know, breaking on it. So hopefully, that's coming here soon. Speak it into existence.

6: We hear you JuJu

Sarina: If you ever got mic'd up, what should fans expect out of you?

JuJu: They're gonna hear me talk a lot of ball. I talk to all the guys about everything going on. A little profanity, so excuse my language, haha. Fans excuse my language. I'm hard on myself. But yeah, they'd have to edit out some of the stuff they hear me talk to myself. Definitely talk to myself, because I'm hard on myself while I analyze what I do as I'm doing it.

7: Halftime show

Sarina: Which teammate would you pick if you had to perform at a Super Bowl halftime?

JuJu: Terrell Burgess. He could give me every dance move. He is not a shy dude. So, he would be bouncing out there. He would perform. Steal the show. I'd be the back-up and let him do his thing.

8: Bugging out

Sarina: This defense is scary. But what are you scared of?

JuJu: I don't like bugs and things crawling and spiders and stuff. Not a big fan of things like that. I can go without any of that.

9: Go for variety

Sarina: Tacos versus In-and-Out?

JuJu: I'm gonna go tacos. There's different varieties.

10: All abs

Sarina: Favorite exercise?

JuJu: Core work. Nothing specifically. But you gotta look fresh. All abs.

Ranking every NFL defense from 1 to 32 going into the 2021 season

I tend to oversimplify sometimes, but i feel like AD & Ramsey are the base defense in terms of what the DC is going to run. They're both so dominant that any DC worth his salt will design the attack & coverage around their particular strengths, much like an offensive mind like McV will run an offense based on the strengths of his QB.

It's quite possible that Staley wasn't a defensive genius and was just smart not to try to force his scheme.. knowing that he was blessed with AD & Ramsey. It would help explain the move from a legend like Wade Phillips to a relative unknown in Staley.

Just an oversimplified thought.

Madden 22

Like others I tend to avoid Madden, and really most EA games, especially their sports titles. Maybe I'll pick it up for the PS5 if the gameplay has improved, but I'll probably have to look into it more.

Next up on the docket is the Ghost of Tsushima DLC, and then to finish Horizon Zero dawn now that they have the 60 FPS mode enabled (60 fps has seriously spoiled me, I don't know how I'll be able to go back). By the time I finish, Madden should be able to be picked up cheap though.

Flying Coach Podcast; Peter Schrager, Sean McVay, and Kyle Shanahan

I just now finally listened to this. I gotta say, with vomit in my throat, that Kyle comes off great in that. Very cool and easy to listen to. McVay is actually kind of annoying sounding in this one. Especially when he asks Kyle about the Stafford trade. Ugh, cringy how derpy he sounds laughing about that. Great content in those podcasts though. Really enjoy them.
The rivalry between those two is real. I think McVay has those SF games circled and shit.

Ramsey camp press conference 8/26

As I've said before, I would be the biggest dick to media if I was a pro athlete. I don't have patience for people who waste my time and 98% of post practice media questions are a waste of time and it's probably 50/50 someone just trying to get you to say something they can exploit for a clickbait title.

I'd show respect and answer questions from people like Jourdan because I know they are there for real facts and information but most others I would probably just screw with most of the time or give useless non-answers too.

Matthew Stafford (Inside Cabo) How the trade went down

I think it can't be understated how much Matt Patricia had to do with all this.

After 3 years with Patricia, Stafford was so done that he not only wanted out, but the ONLY team he refused to go to was New England... likely because if Patricia accurately brought the "Patriot Way" to Detroit, Matthew wanted nothing more to do with that whatsoever. I know Patricia was fired. The point was that Stafford wasn't up for taking the chance that another Patricia came in.

Many of us have said that the culture McVay has built is massively attractive to current pros out there and rest assured, word HAS gotten around that playing for McVay is for the most part a good thing. Even Talib is over any grudge he had. Seems the only guy to not be okay with us is Marcus Peters and I think we can all live with that seeing as we have Jalen Ramsey who's been nothing, but the consummate pro and leader.

I'm not saying that this doesn't happen if the last coach weren't more like Wayne Fontes, but Patricia at the very least added a lot of fuel to Stafford's fire to get out if not lighting the fuse directly.
I think the Rams now have the image around the league of a team that knows how to win, knows how to have fun, and takes care of their vets at the same time

A'shawn to go under the knife??

I would expect that primarily that SJD would get an HD increase along with Greg Gaines you also would see the Rookie Bobby Brown absorb some of the duties on that Brockers post.

DE- SJD
NT- Gaines
DT-Donald

The NFL continues the 2021 system where a player can go on the IR for just 3 weeks & return if healthy. This might be the case with Robinson. This timing is not all that bad good chance to take a longer look @ both Jonah Williams & Eric Banks & see which one of them is worth keeping when/if Robinson returns.

Good time to keep an eye out on DT M.Copeland performance in the Denver game this would be his best opportunity to take an MR53 spot. Copeland in college always had bad intentions for any RB he ran into.
Well - yes I like Bobby Brown & Jonah Williams are going to be solid DT/DE.

Not a Copeland fan. My pick is Banks or Hoecht?? One of those 2 now have a lot better chance to make the 53.

5 observations from Rams practice on Thursday

5 observations from Rams practice on Thursday

LA had a live “game like” scrimmage and we’re learning more about the Rams as the season approaches
By JB Scott Aug 26, 2021,

NFL: Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams Joint Practice
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Rams hosted an intra-squad scrimmage on Thursday in order to prepare for the September 12th matchup against the Chicago Bears at Sofi Stadium. LA has held the team’s starters and key role players out of preseason action. Aside from joint practices held with the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders, this figures to be a full game simulation for those who are planning to make the regular season 53-man roster.

The intra-squad scrimmage is closed to the public, but we’ve gathered some tweets and observations to get you up to speed.

Around 35-38 Rams have not participated in the preseason, which, barring any surprise cuts, leaves only 15 or so roster spots up for grabs. Los Angeles will take the field for their final preseason game Saturday night in Denver against the Broncos.

Sony Michel takes the field for first practice as a Rams RB
It seems freshly acquired running back Sony Michel has joined the team in Los Angeles. The Rams reportedly sent a 2022 sixth round draft selection with a 2023 fourth rounder to the New England Patriots in exchange for the veteran. Michel will wear number 14 for LA, which is a unique number choice for a running back. However, there is a possibility players change numbers once final cuts are made.

Rookie CB Robert Rochell is returning to health

After suffering a wrist injury early in training camp, rookie corner Robert Rochell appears to be on the mend. Rochell has had some run with the first team at times, and given his elite athleticism he could play a key role on special teams as well

EDGE Terrell Lewis stands out

While EDGE rushers Chris Garrett and Justin Lawler have both had excellent performances in the preseason, Terrell Lewis did not participate because of a lingering knee issue. With final cuts looming, Lewis has joined his teammates on the practice field and is looking to make the most of his opportunity. The former third round draft selection is a high-end athlete and flashed potential at times last season; however, it remains to be seen if Lewis can remain healthy and become a reliable contributor at OLB.

Notable play-by-play action

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp increasingly seems to be a favorite target of quarterback Matthew Stafford. The two linked up again on a deep pass during the scrimmage. While Kupp has recently been a trusted option on short and intermediate passes, it is encouraging to see him use the full depth of the field.

The most recent reports indicate that Kenny Young is the favorite to take the most snaps at inside linebacker earlier in the season. The starting ILB duo figures to be Young and Troy Reeder, but Reeder will likely be replaced by an extra defensive back in certain sub packages and passing situations. Young is a rangy and athletic linebacker that can play sideline-to-sideline.

Van Jefferson seems to be continuing his streak of solid plays in practice. One of the lingering questions for the Rams on offense will be the target distribution between Jefferson and DeSean Jackson as the third and fourth wide receivers. If Jefferson can play a significant role this season, LA should be able to manage Jackson’s workload to prevent wear and tear.

Stafford also completed a touchdown pass to veteran tight-end Tyler Higbee against what appears to be starting corner Darious Williams who is wearing number 11 this season. Higbee is important to the team as both a blocker and receiver, though it is fair to expect his targets to increase with a new signal caller in town.

A’Shawn Robinson injury news and other post-practice comments & notes

Similar to most fans waking up on the west coast Wednesday morning, news of the trade caught Michel by surprise.

It also seems Michel’s arrival reminds star defensive lineman Aaron Donald of some bad memories from the 2018 Super Bowl. As a rookie, the running back scored the only touchdown in that game.

Head coach Sean McVay also chimed in on the trade news for the first time. Both McVay and general manager Les Snead have complimented Michel’s history of performance in big games. The coach’s comments further support the idea that Darrell Henderson and Michel will work in tandem this season, with young players Jake Funk and Xavier Jones also expected to contribute at times on offense in addition to their roles on special teams.

McVay also shared the unfortunate news that veteran defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson has suffered a knee injury and will miss a few weeks. This puts his availability for Week 1 in question, as we are currently two and a half weeks out.

It also seems another defensive starter could miss some time due to injury. EDGE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo has been reportedly dealing with a shoulder stinger and the team is continuing to monitor the situation.

Dick Vermeil selected as Coach Finalist for Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2022

Ummm, no.
"He also won Super Bowl XV with the Philadelphia Eagles, and won 120 regular season games overall between his time in Philadelphia, St. Louis and Kansas City, winning 10 or more games in a season six times."

Looks like a Gen Z dude wrote this...Must be @CGI_Ram

Im dyslexic and after reading that literally 5 times, I was about to respond. You’re right… the writer couldn’t be too much of a sports fan getting that wrong.
