Jrry32's First Mock Offseason of 2025

Understandable criticism. My belief is that our offense's biggest problem was the lack of continuity on the OL. If our OL stays fairly healthy, I think our offense can do some damage. Plus, I added a couple vertical threats and an explosive HB (who has WR skills in the passing game) to try and make us more explosive.
There's no doubt that Oline continuity was a serious issue for at least the first half the season. And we can do some damage... but, you know, come to think of it... no one is coming after Mike LaFleur. I don't think he's all that & a bag of chips. No one on this board has expressed any kind of worries that we'd lose him this offseason, amirite? The final 2 drives we went into a hurry-up offense (ostensibly run by Stafford) and just killed the iggles. Then once we got there to the 10, went back to huddles & stalled.
So I'm not sure if our lack of production & explosive plays is all on the player talent level. For sure we need upgrades at offensive skill positions; but for 2 drives in that playoff game, we were marching straight down the field.

Dare I Say.. Sign Darnold?

Totally agree.
His 28-0 int/td ratio really gained him significant favor. His running ability was the bonus. And now it appears he can’t pass on the NFL level
It’s not far off from Drew Allar in 2023. He had 398 attempts, 25 tds, 2 INTs. You watched him against Notre Dame. Did he look like he has the mental capacity to play in the NFL?

Hes accurate with his first reads, doesn’t like throwing into tight windows and doesn’t like taking chances. When he throws a pick it’s a bad due to a bad decision. But 25 TDs and 2 INTs in nearly 400 attempts? He has to be good right? :eyeroll:

Memento's Just Coming Off the Loss Mock Offseason.

Great draft, I wouldn't hate it :D Lots of great signings / deals here.
Looking at Judkins, I guess I'm not as impressed with him as I thought I might be. I don't see "elite" in his tape. I gotta see something that makes me go "wow". Throws a nice heavy stiff arm. Maybe it's just this video cut, but I didn't see any other recent highlight vids.

You look at the Ohio State tape or the Ole Miss tape? Honestly, Judkins at Ole Miss was dominant. Nobody wants to tackle him. Physical, violent runner with breakaway speed.

Officials

The only way to fix the penalty mess is to use AI.
Try it in preseason just for holding calls only, and if it works, expand it to the regular season the next year.
If it calls too many penalties one week, dial it back the next week, or vise versa.
Could eventually replace the human bias completely.
Yep. I'd have a lighting system for the teams and crowd and one ref who gets the calls spoken in his earpiece.

Goal is no reviews and unnecessary stoppages. Teams would need to adjust to higher call rates though I'd imagine.

Bears want Aubrey Pleasant to interview for DC job

Maybe and maybe him watching Pleasant fail right in front of him and get fired leaves a sour taste and he's just doing what he has do to. As long as we're throwing maybes out there they're all valid.
Sure.. I’ll give you one more ….
Goff had his 4th worst completion percentage this year and only passed for 217 yards in a game the Lions needed overtime to win.

No idea who he goes with.. the reflexive “Rooney rule” thing just gets my attention. Did last year when people were saying that about Aaron Glenn. I probably listen to too many National podcasts that talk about coaching candidates.

A good interview by Jake Ellenbogen

My take on Jourdan all the way back 2 years ago are her trying to 1 up Mcvay & the Media !!

Yes she had dirt or knowledge about him questioning his career path. What happened last year SUCKED!!!

Sean Mcvay needed the weekend with his family.Raheem needed to know as well ? I get it was a tough decision.

US RAM DANS should be HAPPY MCVAY chose staying The Rams HC ?
She created this BS that IMO is why Sean Mcvay has not addressed us Rams Fans yet.He will wait & give his thoughts on what is NEXT!!

We as Rams Fans need to respect it,but maybe this is a good thing now ?? Taking 3 plus days might not be a Bad thing !

Jared Verse PFF Defensive Rookie of Year

Hitting on a blue chip defender at 19 overall in the season in which your first ballot Hall of Fame 3T retires... That is some crazy shit. Hopefully he is like AD, meaning willing to work his ass to the nines to be great. And judging from his postseason comments I think he will do that.

For this draft we all have favorite players for each round but the most important thing is adding more difference makers. I want a TE at 26 but more important is hitting another grand slam on that player who slides further than he should. And that player may not be the position you want but if you think he's going to be elite take him.

Same deal with FA. I'd rather have one stud addition than a safe choice or even multiple marginal types. This coaching staff is so good that they can get production from young players. So make a run at a difference maker in this FA window. Those are the guys who you know you can count on when everything is on the line in the playoffs and this team feels like it is close to being a legit contender.

Unbelievable almost. Aarond Donald retires. Defense struggles for a few games, then at the end of the season, it looks like the Rams might have the best defensive front in the NFL. Sure, we need some upgrades but this defense is so young that they won't hurt the salary cap for a few years.

WTF happened to (NFL) Kay Adams?

It's hard to watch anything that's on cable or a large audience sports podcast. So often they get away from sports and talk about shit I do not care about. It's also filled with pretentious people who end up knowing nothing about sports but are more-or-less an "influencer" in hopes of capturing a wider audience. While I love the show Between the Horns with JB, Farr and guest, Here's a perfect example of someone who annoys me when they try to talk football...At least she's easy on the eyes...

Ditto.... Jack of all trades... master of none! :eyeroll:
Never knew her - but it is a local connection here.
She attended the same High School my kids went to. Graduated a coupl eof years after our last one did.....

Vikings extend Kevin O'Connell

Good for him. Very good coach, though he will need to win a big game soon or he will start to develop a reputation of choking.

It's hard to win "the big game" without the right QB though. McVay will tell you that. So will Andy Reid.

McVay's coaching tree is absolutely mental for a coach his age. In terms of quantity alone. Then when you consider the quality and how well his former staff members have done.... mind blowing. We are very fortunate.
Ya shoulda been a Sean McVay fabulist since 2018 :laugh1::dizzy:

How much of a difference would Donald have made?

Before AD announced his retirement he was trending to be a passing down specialist on the rush. Rams would have done with him like they ended up doing with Fiske. Which means they wouldn't have needed to move up for Fiske.

Translation is they would have been a little better on pass downs, and had more picks. But they would need to replace 3T this offseason. So it's six one way half dozen the other I'd say.

Rule Change

Yep that’s why coaches don’t teach their players to go helmet to helmet right?

That’s why the NFL doesn’t have refs incentivize 15 yards and an ejection from the game for hits on a defenseless WR?

Does making this illegal stop them?

Yes or no?

This argument is invalid.

Your honor, the plaintiff rests their case.

I should have been a lawyer…. Meh… maybe not then I’d have a know it all attitude then. :laugh4:
I'd argue (your honor) that things like helmet-to-helmet hits have gone WAY DOWN since the rules against them were implemented.

We've all seen the highlight videos of players getting absolutely DESTROYED by H-2-H hits and "defenseless WR" knockout shots. Especially in the 80's and 90's.

Yeah, those crazy shots still happen, but it seems like they've gone down in frequency.
