Van Jefferson

Mackeyser,
I've actually been doing a lot of thinking about this very situation and the scenario I've come up with is not going to be popular with most on this board. I think after the season it's time we say adios to big Whit. I mean I love the guy (what Rams fan doesn't...) but it is time to sign Boom long term and move him into the starting lineup.

Like I said this isn't going to be popular but I don't want to lose Boom and try and find a decent LOT to protect Staff's blind side. Ain't nothing worse than having to reach to try to fill a hole......especially when we've got big Whit's replacement already on the roster.

Look money is going to be tight and we are up against the cap already. Whit's 10 million goes a long way to filling holes and keeping the team in the hunt.
Just sayin'

Yeah, that'd be my ultimate decision, because I'd rather keep Von Miller, OBJ and Sony Michel.

Now, if we could keep them AND Big Whit, I'd be fine, but I gotta feeling that we're gonna be feeling some losses.

WR DeSean Jackson wanted out of LA: After his release, signed with the Raiders

By the time he got released I think McVay had had enough of him for whatever reason. Could he be doing what Van is doing? Why not? But maybe he’s got a better deal with Vegas so good for him.

I think McVay was done with him when he quit on that long pass and didn't fight for the TD. Can you imagine ANY of our other receivers or TEs NOT fighting for that TD?

DJax just wanted shit handed to him and that's not how we roll.

NFL Team's Best Player All-Time

I'll give my vote for Seattle's best to Walter Jones as well. So smooth at pass-protection, and he was a dominant run blocker as well.

As for best Ram? I gotta go with Deacon. No offense meant to any other Ram, Merlin especially, but the Secretary of Defense literally coined a term that we still use today, and he probably owns all of the sack records for both season and career.

Matthew Stafford 50K

I was having a really bad day earlier. Sorry about that. Normally I probably wouldn't say anything. I still think that using someone's biological condition as a description of example negative behavior is making fun of them, but it's not like we don't do that all the time with other "more acceptable" things (example: I've called the refs blind several times).

In any case, have a good day.
No sweat dude. As long as I've been reading your posts I know you're an upstanding dude. I try to never judge anyone based on a small sample size or even an argument here and there. I've had arguments with a lot of folks here and many were my fault. Plus you were right. What I said could be taken wrong. But it's not like I can change some of my tendencies, I mean I'm an old sailor.

Anyway, Merry Xmas and cheers. :clinkingbeer:

Any need to change game plans???

The way the Rams have played over the last three weeks looks like a great plan for the rest of the year and playoff run.

Balanced offense, pound the run game even if there are no long runs, play action, move Stafford a little.

Lots of pressure on opposing QBs, bring some blitzes occasionally, tackles not just hits blowing people up.

Safe ST play, catch the ball on punts, kick offs through the end zone, make field goals.

STAY HEALTHY!!
Didn't see enough play action and moving the pocket as compared to last couple of games.
But I'm thinking that may be because of lack of having our regular guys playing and lack of
practice. Would have like to have seen more of OBJ AND Jefferson, but again that could be
the lack of practice reps.
I'm worried that if we don't spread the ball more, it will take it's toll on Kupp.
Hopefully we will soon get all of our guys back and get back to our normal practice routine.
None of the above things are criticism as much as just observations.
Good thread Bart.

Edit. love our new return guy as well as as our overall D play

So my favorite breakfast place just got better

It used to get used a lot - back when wood stoves were new. :laugh4:

It adds a richness and depth of flavor to sauces and gravies. I don't really use it much. I think the bottle I have is from the 80s.

I Remember it being in the cupboard when I was a kid, but never remember my mother or grandma using it.

You whipper snappers better watch your tongue.

TuNF - Seahawks at Rams

Yes. This is the problem with fans. It was PI. But in real time you won't get that call in every instance. Probably most of the time it's gonna be called but those are usually hit/miss.

Also the refs tend to swallow their whistles in big games. Especially in the secondary where PI makes such a huge impact on the game. And on top of that especially when it's a critical moment in the game where the refs shouldn't be calling something if it's not obvious. Missing a call or gifting a call, both are bad in a big moment.

Fans want to cry and bitch and demand perfection by refs. But the price of that is a million fucking flags, more commercials, and more ref faces determining the outcome of the game. Fuck that. This is why I always say the NFL's product was far better before they started nuking calls and shit. You have old epic missed calls or whatever and ok that's part of the game. It balances out over time. Try to fix that stuff sure but not to the point where you fuck up the product.

That argument has been made with literally every single effort to call the game more accurately.

The problem isn't "the human factor" with occasional mistakes, but rather the WIDE disparity in how games are called.

We have the tech NOW to mitigate most of those mistakes and inconsistencies. The issue is cost as all the stadiums would need to be upgraded as well as all the equipment players wear and the balls would need 12 sensors like RFID tags into the ball at certain spots.

They don't want to do that. I think the least of the issues is money.

I mean, what union of part time players has so much sway that the OWNERS can't so much as verbalize their concern about a questionable call??? That's insane. That doesn't happen in any other sport.

I'll say it again... the ONLY reason they have officials in NY and ANY replay is because the broadcast tech has forced it.

Without it, they'd not have changed anything since the 70s...

TL;dr missed or bad calls are a part of the game in the same way that a cancer is part of the body. As for the "balances over time" stuff, no way. When we were the worst team in the league for a decade, the calls didn't balance even over a decade.

No Dalvin Cook vs Rams

As long as we have the right personnel defending the run we'll be fine. I don't want to see us trot out 2 DT, 2 OLB, a MLB, and 6CBs against a full back and 2 blocking TEs.

Actually thought against Seattle we did better with mixing up coverages, so that should serve to help us as well.

Let's get our backfield at least 25 touches, maybe a sweep or two, and let's bring home the victory!

20 Random Survive to Thrive Thoughts

Serious question around the concern that Stafford hasn't tested positive for COVID yet: Didn't the NFL change the testing protocol so one only has to test IF SYMPTOMATIC when vaxxed (which all but 1 Ram is)?

To me, that's a huge difference, as many players that would have had to submit multiple negative tests thereafter would never test positive to begin with. They're just out there infecting other players, who also may not show symptoms, and progress toward the whole herd immunity goal. Again, this was my potentially incorrect understanding of the situation.

I was hoping we wouldn't have to worry about Stafford or others unless they REALLY get sick with the virus.

Correction: Chris Garrett was the ONLY player unvaxed and he's since been vaxed. So, unless a new addition (there have been so many) is unvaxed, the entire team is vaxed.

That was SUPER important wrt the NFL being willing to reschedule our game to Tuesday.
