Who Were the Ram-Hawks

I thought of KU lover @Memento when I heard of the phrase Ram-Hawk, meaning Los Angeles Ram/Kansas Jayhawk. Aside from the two players in the question, these are the Jayhawks that I know of that played for the Rams after KU.

Aside from former Ram-Hawks John Hadl and Aqb Talib, what two other Ram-Hawks were teammates at both KU and LA? NO GOOGLE, @den-the-coach !!!!

I know you're a closet Mizzou fan, @Loyal especially with the top fifteen recruiting class we had in football this year. :p

Wild Card Sunday: Steelers at Chiefs - 8:15pm ET

I have nothing against Roethlisberger, but Steeler fans or maybe I'm just so envious of them because there so many....One of the areas we vacation is Ocean City Maryland and as we traveled about when we were first there all these bars had Steeler flags and Paraphernalia and I could not understand it.

Yeah there's a shit ton no matter where you go.

Now Ben went to Miami of Ohio so I liked that, but I think the only time I ever root for the Steelers is when they are playing the 49ers, Patriots & maybe the Cowboys and even that is a stretch lately with all the time I'm spending in Texas.

Their luster has gone for me ever since Troy retired. He was my favorite non-Ram player ever. Got really hard to root for them w/ clowns like Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell came on.

BTW one more quesiton, when Bill Cowher was Head Coach of the Steelers, why did every Steeler fan look like him? It was uncanny, I could look at a person and ask them, do you follow football and if they said yes, I would say, let me guess your favorite team and then I would say Pittsburgh and they were always amazed.

Hell with the way I turned out, I wouldn't be surprised if my 3 year old self had a 70s porn stache.

Rams(Mcvay’s -O’Connell) offense ?

Often times the scripted plays exclude 3rd downs since distance to convert is very specific. It is Ironic how teams like KC generally get better once they have surpassed their scripted period.

Well I’m wondering how this effects The Rams. Makes me question Mcvay’s offense a lot more now.
If The Rams lose tonight,I just hope Mcvay doesn’t start blaming himself like he always does.I say that because he does it more often now than not.
I hope more for a Rams victory & they at least do as well as last season.I find it funny how he is more on the defensive when it comes to Stafford.Maybe that was a lesson learned from Raheem Morris.”

Wild Card Saturday: Patriots at Bills - 8:15pm ET

part of why I don't enjoy going to the games as much anymore is because I've gained weight.

due to some medical issues (the details of which are not germane to the discussion), I'm up around 300# give or take a few based on the day.

Bottom line is that the seats are too small, too hard and that would only be exacerbated with the extra layers to withstand the frigid weather.

I actually love the cold. Lived in PA for 4 winters and you'd think as a CA kid, I'd hate it... nope... shoveling and layering didn't bother me and I had two babies in that time and all the extra it takes to take babies out in the freezing cold...again... didn't bother me. We have even considered relocating to Minneapolis from Tampa because we just don't like the heat (wife's literally allergic to the heat and will pass out and/or break out in hives from it) and really miss the seasons that we were spoiled with in eastern PA.

Sure, the outdoor stadiums look great on TV when it's cold, but the TV experience with all the accessible home theater gear (big screen, big sound, big comfy seating...and BATHROOM access), home prepared or catered food and none of the stadium costs ($100 to PARK? I must be a cheap bastard because I'd rather grow wings and fly there than pay that)... all in all, the game day experience just doesn't match up with being at home.

Plus, I'm old and curmudgeonly now. When I was a kid, I skipped school in 1985 to go to the Fabulous Forum and buy two tickets to the Finals (Lakers Celtics... nothing better). That was an experience I'll never forget.

Last couple of times I went to a game here in Tampa (to watch the Rams kick the Bucs ass!), the game experience was...meh. I loved meeting folks from here and I'd do it again if things were in order to do it, but for something so rare... only 17 reg season games... it didn't feel that amazing. I've been just as excited at a Dodger game and they have 81 home games.

Sorry, y'all know me and long posts...

Mcvay can also be befuddling!!!

I was okay running the ball at that point in the game but a play action on one of the downs would have been okay with Stafford eating the sack unless someone was wide open.

That said, I was also puzzled that we completely abandoned any chance to win the game in regulation by letting the clock run out. I know we took a sack but with close to 20 seconds, why not toss one up? Maybe we get a PI or something that gets in range.
I have the same thought in a lot of games. A few seconds left, throw up a deep pass. Maybe you get a penalty and can kick a fg. If they intercept, half is over.

Rams Run Defense

This run defense was looking real good with Jones settling in. Losing him was a big hit. Where we're gonna feel his absence is shit like those irritating swing passes out of the backfield. Or the quick tackles on crossers underneath.

Reeder is capable of having good games, but we're gonna be back to getting mismatched out of the backfield.

Brutal year for rookie class. Bad luck, or…

And Kurt Warner was a free agent.
So what?

We need to do something to upgrade our offensive line.

Especially the interior.
Well, you don't have a pick until the end of the 3rd and I think the secondary is more critical and more likely to be upgraded than the OL with another 3rd/4th round rookie.

If anything I could see them letting one of our guys walk and sign an outside FA for the OL. Someone capable and experienced enough to step in and play.

Who do we want to win this weekend?

Doesn't matter who the Rams play. We can beat any team we face, or we can lose to any team we face. Reality it's the Rams who lose games. Every game I saw this season with a L next to it, I feel the Rams either played like doodoo or McVay came into the game underprepared. JMHO
I think we tend to play like doodoo when we lose the LOS. Other than those types of games McVay tends to win.

There are some games where it seems like teams are sitting all over his route concepts, granted. But I think that happens to every coach. Nobody is so good that they won't have games where the other guy does a better job. McVay in fact seems to be on the top of that list of guys who get the best of most exchanges.

But I'm with you that I don't care who we play. Not gonna lie it would be nice if the 9ers get knocked out, because SF is about as tough a game for the Rams as Green Bay. But then again it would be great to see a third game and the Rams slay that dragon. Bottom line is all these stars are either gonna get it done or they're not gonna get it done. So I'm in the enjoyment stage personally, just soaking in that chance we have a run ahead.

Psychological effect of SF loss

Curious what you guys think here. Is it possible there are any residual effects lingering after that SF loss? A team we had loss to 5 straight at the time. Wanting to win at home, to clinch the division and break the losing streak. Put ourselves as the #2 seed in the NFC and close out the season playing our best football. Instead we completely choked. Blew a 17 point lead to our division rivals who we can't beat. Could not stop the run in the 2nd half when their physicality took over. Without their all pro LT in fact. Knowing we needed one stop, the defense got picked apart in less than a minute and allowed them to tie the game. Then moments later, they win the toss and immediately drive down again unstoppably and win the game.

The fact that we choked in this manner, the way you lose sometimes has a lingering effect that us actually greater than the loss itself. The way the SF fans completely took over SoFi. The way Ramsey called out our defense scheme after the game proving there is some discension in the locker room.

Success and confidence are contagious and breeds more of the same. But the flip-side is also true. Self doubt and hesitation can creep in and cripple a competitor. I'm seriously wondering how a loss like that wont have an effect on us. It takes incredible mental fortitude to brush a loss like that off and come back to play your best football.
I'm much more concerned about the physical effects.
No Fuller and maybe no Rapp.

Something seems to be getting missed

Why can't we do the same thing to other teams? So SF took away the long pass and the short pass? ...and the running game? We need some bread and butter plays in our back pocket...we don't seem to ever have any of those that get us much needed 1st downs.
we could try for sure....

49ners D-line top to bottom is more stout than ours and they have a couple monster lbs that can cover.

Green Bay weather Sunday Jan 23rd

So if both the Eagles and the Niners lose the Rams would travel to Green Bay next weekend. The weather could be good for this time of year.

No snow or rain is forecast, as its should be sunny but very cold. If the Rams play in GB next weekend they could catch a weather break on Sunday. It's forecasted to snow both Saturday and Monday but be sunny (though very cold) on Sunday. Stafford knows how to play in GB. No snow and with only 6 mph winds it would keep the Ram's passing game viable.

So for those who want the Niners and Eagles to lose, then the weather might do the Rams a favor.
