Not Suprising.. Von Miller Was All About The Money

I was asked so I answered honestly. You don't want to believe it that's fine. I was simply being honest about the context. It's also to explain how I know the guy I've mentioned occasionally. I've known him for over 10 years and it was at one of my family gatherings to watch football is how he met his GF.

I used to work at Torrey Pines where a lot of sports celebs go and it's how I've known several including Marshall Faulk who at least back then was a regular.

11 personnel podcast -Wagner

One player who proved to be key in the recruitment of Robinson to Los Angeles? Former Bears teammate Leonard Floyd, whom the Rams initially signed to a one-year deal in 2020 before he earned a multiyear extension after that season. Floyd felt like a new player and person after joining the roster, as he described to me in 2021. He shared his journey with Robinson, who also had a frustrating exit from Chicago after playing on the franchise tag for a year.

Floyd’s four-year, $64 million contract was restructured this offseason to give the Rams about $12 million more in salary-cap flexibility, and Pastoors said that Floyd didn’t bat an eye about the restructure. In fact, Floyd loved being in Los Angeles so much that when he and his representation were in contract talks last spring, he committed to the Rams at his current annual number, which others (including the Giants) tried to top. Floyd turned down the higher numbers in order to stick to his initial commitment.

“Leonard has been awesome to work with,” Pastoors said. “Leonard feels like he’s at home now.”
That's awesome to read! Floyd is silently a star. He's so quiet too. Never thought about the Floyd/Robinson connection.

So awesome to hear he's such a team guy too.

Thanks for sharing!

NFL Quarterbacks Who Are on the Hot Seat in 2022

Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones could be gone early. They both suck. I think Tannehill, Murray and Tua are going to provide enough but who knows? It's time for Tannehill to get that team over the hump but that's a tough ask with the AFC competition. Next year's class is supposed to be much better than 2022. Wentz went to Washington but should still be on this list. He's been called a locker room problem who can't accept hard coaching in 2 places. Will the 3rd be any different? Doubtful. Hurts? Goff? Both have made the playoffs but Goff has a better resume. So he's probably on a hotter seat than Hurts. I think both of them will be in place in 2023.

Pro Football Talk: Rams say 'F the cap (Wagner signing)

In the NFL I think it's more akin to the 49ers under Eddie DeBartolo. They were a coveted destination team for talent. If I remember correctly they won 5 Lombardis in 14 years but were competitive even when they didn't. Over one 10 period, the 49res won more games setting an NFL record.

The Rams have 55 wins from 2017 through 2021, which translates to an 11 regular season average. That isn't bad by any measure. That is just the regular season. They have 7 post-season wins in that time span with 1 Super Bowl win in two appearances. So the grand total is 62 wins over 5 seasons.

Les and Sean have been cooking searching for the right ingredients and now they have the recipe. It's why this is their 5 year window because I'm serious, I think Sean stays as long as Stafford stays. The NFC has been weakened and that includes the Buccaneers.

20 Random 2022 Free Agency and Pre-Draft Thoughts

1. 2021: "All in!"

2. 2022: "All in, all the time!"

3. The plan is working.

4. The first order of business was to, in light of Andrew Whitworth's retirement, ensure that we have reasonable continuity on the OL. By locking in Joe Noteboom and Brian Allen (and, to a lesser extent, Coleman Shelton), mission accomplished.

5. Losing Von Miller was not part of the plan, but neither was adding Bobby Wagner. Sometimes, you have to adjust on the fly. While Wagner does not bring vthe pass rush presence of Miller, his leadership, ability to "quarterback" the defense, and impact on the run defense will be huge.

6. Speaking of the run defense, I think their playoff performance has been largely overlooked. In the four playoff games, the Rams allowed 60.3 rushing yards/game and a YPC average of 3.3. That's impressive... and now we add Wagner.

7. I'm as sorry to see Robert Woods go, but I understand the move. Allen Robinson brings a dimension that we lacked - a guy who can punish smaller CBs and win on 50/50 balls.

8. If we are able to retain OBJ and enter next year's playoffs with a trio of him, Robinson and Cooper Kupp... watch out.

9. I have a never say never attitude when it comes to signing FAs. That said, I'm having a hard time believing we'll land Stephon Gilmore.

10. Jerry Hughes is an attainable target who I think would be a great fit.

11. The Rams are currently built to contend this year, and in 2023. While we'll have a few starters (Havenstein, Edwards, Robinson, Gaines, Scott/Rapp) and some key rotation players (Henderson, Long) to deal with, and likely won't retain all of them, the core is set.

12. Havenstein is a guy I'd love to extend now, if possible.

13. In the draft, I think the Rams will continue to look for depth in positions that could be eroded through FA in 2023.

14. At the EDGE spot, I'm intrigued by Western Kentucky's DeAngelo Moore, a small-school prospect who excelled at the Senior Bowl.

15. At CB, I think that Joshua Williams, another small school guy (Fayetteville State) is worth a look. His measurables (6'3, 193 lbs., 4.53 forty) entice, but I really like his tackling ability.

16. At RB (yes, RB), I really like Brian Robinson from Alabama.

17. I smile every time I see another team's fan post a "how do they keep signing guys" or "doesn't the salary cap apply to them" post.

18. Meanwhile, the 49ers don't know if their intended starting QB is ready, the Packers have lost their best (and third best) WR, and the Bucs are suddenly under a new HC.

19. Speaking of the Bucs, you can't tell me that Arians' departure wasn't a condition of Brady's return. Sure, they've weaved a Kumbaya narrative, but it seems pretty clear to me.

20. Running it back!

5.Miller was The Rams going all in with draft picks.Get a comp pick later for him. —SuperBowl success. The reason was more injuries than players.Lewis,Garrett,& Hollins we’re all injured. — OBo is gone as well. The Rams will look to add.
6. Run defense will have younger players from 2021 in the Brown Bro’s.
Just away The Rams can beef up more.
7.Robinson,but Hopkins & Sko got some serious playoff time successfully.
8. Tutu will be interesting player to watch.
9. Always going to doubt trades.
10.There are some FA’s that are not worth throwing CAP money away for.
The Rams develop there players
11.2023 The Rams will deal with it like they did this off-season.
12.I disagree about Rob Havenstien,he needs to really prove it.He will become the team leader replacing Big Whit w/ the O’Lineman

13. No Brainer
14. 15.16. Yes?
17. The Rams do it by having the Youngest team every season in The NFL. Then wait for the right moment.Develop through preseason.
18. Is just worry about a game at a time, not the decline of other teams.9ers in 2021 is a perfect example.
19.I’ll say it’s just best Arians is in the Front office now. It’s better to pass the torch. Brady likes to do his own thing.
He will need a good QB or OC still though.
20. Sure ,but a RB would be nice. Sony is an example of 17.

Would You Do Something Illegal?

I know it seems that I am a very worldly guy with the finest culinary tastes (Hawaiian Pizza, for example} and my distinctive ability as a connoisseur of fine 40 ozers..... But I'm pretty square. I am no longer in a job where I worry about drug tests, and I believe that a certain substance that is illegal in Kansas is very legal in Colorado might relieve pain better than a prescribed narcotic.

I'm wondering how the border crossing works going from Colorado to Kansas... Does Kansas have agents that follow Kansas license plated vehicles back into the state from the shops in question? Or do they not care and you could be pulling a uhaul full of this substance without worries? Looking at you, @Merlin
hemp is legal, have you tried that yet ? same pricing, the main difference at least for me is that hemp doesnt last as long. it may not even work for you, hard to say, but it is a legal avenue to follow and should be available in your state as well since there are no legality issues involved.

So, what’s left on Snead’s pre-draft ‘to do’ list?

As long as there is value, don't reach on Edge if there is no value as that could be the case, but CB should be plentiful in value.

Let's talk about our role players

Needs are at depth positions where the depth is not very good, or the starters are lacking in certain areas. Also where players will be moving on.

Safety - Scott is more physically gifted than Fuller but switched to safety late in his college career. Fuller is heady but physically limited. As free safeties go neither is great. Scott and Rapp will be free agents. Burgess is small and apparently doesn't have Morris' faith.

Corner - Ramsey is great. Long and Deayon are backup level small guys. Rochelle is unknown due to inexperience. The big issue here is to replace the loss of Williams with a starter level corner. Depth is lacking as is tackling ability. Big need. I'd hope they take two in the draft.

Linebacker - A better edge rusher who is healthy would be great.

Running back - depth/health. Anyone picked here could be starting at some point in the season. I'd prefer they invest in a more durable feature back to share carries. Funk and Michel both have knee issues. Henderson will be a free agent.

Guard/Center - They've got depth here but if Evans is the best of the group then they need to draft someone. Plus Edwards is a free agent next year.

Tight end - They lost Mundt. If Higbee gets injured they need a good backup to take his place. Blanton nor Hopkins are good blocking tight ends. Another potential starter is needed

QB - if they can draft a better backup I'd love it. Does anyone have faith that the backups or run game can carry this team if Stafford gets an injury?

Defensive line - a possibility since Ernest Brown was on the practice squad. If Gaines goes they may want competition for Bobby Brown inside.

So my priorities are
Corner x 2
Tight End
Guard
Running back
Safety
Forgot edge on your list.

Goff 2018 vs Stafford 2021

Only read first page, but Matt won the SB in his first year here and I think he would have won the last SB had he been our qb. The throw Goff made to the open WR in the endzone had way too much air under it. That would have been a rope from Stafford. And Matt would have made better decisions all game. I like Goff but no comparison to Matt
