Niners, Deebo, Agree To Deal

Biggest difference is him getting guys in the right calls and looks. If you're lined up wrong and Wagner tells you to move you'd better listen.

Wags is a sure tackler as well which is another upgrade over Reeder. I mean I appreciated what Reeder brought to the defense but Wagner won't get faked by the RB in the hole. He also tends to stop the runner.

His range still looks pretty good to me. I wouldn't say he's who he used to be, but he's still an upgrade for us. I think his biggest challenge is the pass game but he's a savvy vet who knows how to anticipate routes/tendencies and read QB eyes and all that.

All told he's probably a significant upgrade. I wasn't so sure when we signed him but watching his demeanor and the reactions of the Rams it's hard to think he isn't going to make this unit a lot mentally tougher and physically tougher up the middle.

For those long-time fans of baseball teams....

Probably my all time favorite Dodger ever. It just always seemed he'd come in and provide that big hit. He finished his playing career as a player/coach. He used to be the first base coach. Then occasionally, he'd go to the dugout, grab a bat and walk to the batter's box, slap a single to knock in a runner and back to the coaching box he'd go.
How could I forget about Manny Mota

He was awesome

Greg Gaines and A’Shawn Robinson

I see Hoecht as a backup 3T. He has some natural rush ability to him.
Agree.

For this season anyway right? No need for Mike Hoecht to get reps @ NT with the current 2022 DL roster.

Mentioned it over the last few months that it would be a good idea to groom a reserve 3 tech behind AD. Mike Hoecht might just be "The Guy". :hope:

Ref. the 5 tech post .......Henderson would seem to have numerous DL who have the skills to play that position @ this time might even say it's overloaded.

It will be interesting to hear from our TC reporters to give us some insight on where Coach Henderson is lining up & working DL'ers -Ernest Brown #90/ Jonah Williams #92 & Rookie Elijah Garcia #69.

A few thoughts about Rams’ superb assistant coaches…

I'll tell you what: when Raheem Morris gets poached (and he will have a head coaching job if our defense is good enough), I want us to keep Henderson badly. Make him the DC. Same with Thomas Brown being the OC when Coen gets poached.
Would be well deserved. Though I will say I think McVay prioritizes back end knowledge in his DCs. And if that's true then he might be grooming Shula for the gig once Raheem gets that job.

Some of these guys aren't gonna ever get a coordinator job under McVay. Their best chance will be jumping with that new staff who gets hired away.

Btw it's the same story on the offensive side. Which is why Brown got moved to TE where he can learn the passing game.

CAMP REPORT Day 2 7-30-22

Since the team does this now with tickets you would think they'd know the big influx is coming on Saturday and have some cold beer and water barrels with sellers to cut down on people moving around and standing in line. At the very least the water.

I know camp's come a long way and all too btw. Looks amazing now what they've done to it looking at VRF's photos. But the Rams have had issues before with water and general drink availability going back to the coliseum so you'd think they'd have this figured out by now. At least it wasn't a record breaking heat day.

A few (too early) predictions for the Rams 2022 season…

Stafford should be the favorite for the MVP. He was in the mix for much of last season until that midseason lull pulled him out of the race. Finished strong in the playoffs and won the big game. Now in year two under McVay. Insanely good weapons. Might have a goddamn run game this year too. Might even have a better defense, depending on that secondary and how the pieces settle in.

There isn't a QB who by logic makes more sense than Stafford. If I'm setting odds in Vegas he's a top 3 guy in that running.

Rams were 6th in scoring last year at 27 ppg. They're gonna be in that 30 range this year, might even have an offense of rare potency.

CAMP REPORT -VRF Camp Report Day 1 -

I'm going to assume by 'putting in extra time on something other than their normal position' means working with Special Teams ? Carter was known as something of a Special Teams demon with Georgia State, so I wouldn't find it abnormal for him to be working out with this unit. The long snaps may be something new, that I don't know, but one of the questions coming into camp this season was who might replace Hekker as the holder on field goal attempts, so we may see several players trying out for that duty. jmo.
Nice take!

The 5 things (other than health) that can make the Rams unstoppable in 2022

The RB room needs to be able to replace michel and his type of use from last season. As good as Henderson and Akers are when on the field, michel brought a tougher style that worked better at times.

DL depth. If we want to enjoy a few more dominant seasons from AD, his snap count needs to start coming down.
I think a healthy Akers is powerful enough, tbh.

I'm on the same page when it comes to Donald. He had a career high snap count last year.. I want that down significantly... I'm hoping close to 20% less, to be honest. Let's see Copeland and Hoecht step up.

CAMP REPORT Day 1 Jul 29

According to the LA Times Durant made his impact while playing the star position, as Ramsey is sidelined with a clipboard. Real nice sign there. Here's a quote from the article:

Safety Jordan Fuller said Durant impressed him early, and the cornerback’s play has continued to ascend.

“I knew he was a special talent, and I knew what he was capable of,” Fuller said Friday. “He’s not even scratching the surface of what he could be.”

Durant has made plays from the hybrid “star” position, which requires skills to play as an inside and outside cornerback.

Ramsey, a three-time All-Pro, has redefined the position but other cornerbacks are being groomed for the role.

“There’s a lot of nuances that we ask of that ‘star’ position, and he’s getting more comfortable every day,” McVay said of Durant.
