What's the deal, are we using ARob correctly?

20% route success pretty much matches what I said on this thread or one of the many others about this topic. He never seems to get open or get separation. I was thinking it was because we have him running routes not made to his abilities. Maybe they're too long to develop and Stafford doesn't have time to hit him. Using him for the short fade in the endzone works well. Something fast/simple off the line, not long complex routes. I'm by far not an expert, but from what I see, it makes the most sense.

FEATURE 20 Random Thoughts Under Pressure

I don't need Jourdan to tell me that Elm. But yes I agree that is the problem and I think you and I agree on that. Akers is pissing me off too but we're down to him and Brown. And as much as I like Brown's run style he gets hurt too.

Akers doesn't need to be Gurley to get this offense going. Michel showed that last year. All he needs to do is get the tough yards which he should be capable of. So I'm still holding out hope they can get him to build some confidence before we hit this stretch of tough defenses (9ers, Bucs, Saints, Chiefs).

I saw Akers completely missing holes against Dallas. Achilles injury aside, I don’t see how could miss a big hole with nothing but green on the other side.

How much longer can this go on?

F Them Picks!

I know we've heard some criticism, maybe rightfully so, about using draft capital to get "other" players, while neglecting positions of importance such as O Line. That might be true, but it can be fixed. But horns up brothers, we won't super bowl 56 and ran over the hated whiners to get there. Nothing could have been sweeter than that in my book. Yes, we have some issues now, but it will be addressed. I think the Rams suffered the super bowl curse where injuries are plentiful and we just have to deal with it.

The bright side is that our defense is playing well enough to keep us in games. Had we scored 20 points in each game, we would be 3-2 0r 4-1 (if we didn't give the whiners a defensive TD).

McVay might have to go a bit conservative if our O line struggles but we can still win if we don't turn the ball over and just take what the defense gives up, even if that means less than the big splash plays.

But overall, I don't disagree with giving up a #1 pick to get a proven player. Draft picks are (at times a gamble) whereas a good player who is proven could be worth a #1 pick, except that they usually cost more.

For sure especially when said player is young. Stafford was different and when you look at the QB trades this off-season we got a bargain. Take the whiners we don't really know yet but look what they traded for a possible bust a non proven commodity.

Like if you said we could have Brian Burns tomorrow for a 2024 1st and a 3rd. I'm doing it. But that's why I'm on this forum lol

Should never have let Woods go

When we signed the big time free agent WR I checked some Bear boards and they were not sad to see AR go.

One poster even stated that AR appeared to quit on the team, complete with videos of AR's lackluster play.

I figured "what do DF Bear fans know anyway" since very knowledgeable ROD posters were gushing about the signing

Well, it seems that I am finding out who knew what.

I was definitely gushing over Robinson when we signed him. And I might have been very wrong about him. I'll even admit that I didn't bother to go watch his film with the Bears either, because he was a player I knew and whose game I was very aware of.

But I don't think it's time yet to crown Bears fans. You might want to slow your roll there.
I remember when ARob (the wr) was the Jag's top WR and put up pro bowl level numbers as a very young player. High level 2nd round pick (iirc) and played like one during his time there.

I was quite surprised to see the vitriol from Bear fans after we signed him.

GAME DAY MNF - Raiders at Chiefs

Is that the one where Jones landed with his full body weight onto Carr? That's a roughing call every day of the week. AD used to do that but when they changed the rules he had no problem moving to the side so he didn't land on top of the qb.

.
The call was incorrect. NFL rule 12-2-11b states you cannot put all of your weight on the passer. Jones propped himself up with his left hand on the ground. How was Jones able to get the ball and secure it from his position if most of all of his weight was on Carr? You physically cannot.

I'd also argue Carr was no longer a QB. How can you attempt to pass without possession of the ball? This was a football play, Jones didn't intend to punish Carr.

Further, if he wasn't passing the ball, Carr was a runner. Cheffers blew this call on so many levels. Fortunately, it had no outcome on the game results:

David Edwards out vs 9ers

Edwards was really concerned about his concussion status PRIOR to the Cowboys game. So I can only imagine he must be even more concerned now. Here's a link to an article which includes some of Edwards' thoughts about concussions:

Thanks.

GAME DAY GDT - Cowboys at Rams

I agree with your point, although it should be noted that Akers has also failed to cut right when running left and has been caught behind the line of scrimmage on almost every carry due to his frustrating slowness in getting vertical.

Whether it's due to a mental block with the injury or not, McVay had no business having him out there against Dallas after we'd clawed back to take the lead on Cupp's long TD catch.

The game was winnable. As a contender, the Cowboys don't impress me much, they couldn't move the ball regularly against our D. We were moving against their D in spite of having no running game at all.

Pollard is their only real weapon. Lamb is not a number one receiver and Gallup is mediocre, as is Dak.

If McVay had put Henderson in the game instead of Akers, taken a few more deep shots and moved Robinson to the bench, we could have won that game.
I agree we should have won that game. The Pollard run was just sloppy tackling by everyone.

I was surprised Scott missed that tackle because he is usually really good at tackling people.

Quick thoughts from the tractor cab..

Good Evening you all, the Rams lost, but the world didn't end.

As I sip this Busch Light and jam Zach Bryan from the cab of my Case IH 340 Magnum, I have these throughts...

We're below .500 for the 2nd time in the McVay era. McVay has taken us to 2 Super Bowls and won 1. Had an extraordinary coaching resume. HE DIDN'T FORGET TO COACH OR CALL PLAYS.

Stafford was a baller last year and for his career. HE DIDN'T FORGET HOW TO PLAY. He's been sacked more through the first 5 games this season than ever in his career. What do you expect him to do?

It's quite evident that the lack of a OL has changed how the plays are called. We know McVay loves those medium - deep crossers and deep routes. But when it takes 3-4 seconds to develop a play and only 2 seconds worth of protection.. what do you do? You have to do the short, intermediate, conservative ugly shit to try and protect the QB.

Our running game desperately needs a bruising, mean MOTHERFCKR. We're too soft in every aspect of the offense right now.

This team is decimated on the OL. And that's what we're seeing result wise

The Rams will get healthy, the Rams be fine. Until we lose 7 games, we have hope. It's a long season.

Sean McVay didn't forget how to coach, and Stafford didn't learn how to ball out.

I will say this though, the Rams continually neglecting the OL is why we're in this situation. I hate to beat a dead horse, but what would be more valuable... Creed Humphries or Tutu? Draft decisions like that are why we're where we're at.

We'll be fine.
